Where would it be?
Me: On the amazon fly fishing for huge peacock bass.
El Salto. (is that how you say it?)
Ha. My answer also. Those things look so amazing i cant imagine being in Brazil or whereever reeling one in
i would have to say the amazon too. not just for bass but all the other weird fish too.
kentucky lake
Quotekentucky lake
Exactly
Amazon River
Cuba
Flyfish for trophy smallies in Canada
Lake Fork, Texas
Another vote for South America and peacock bass.
El Salto, I've watched too many fishing shows where they pull out 10 pound plus bass like nothing.
Lake El Salto, Amazon River, and Florida Everglades. Yes I live in Florida, but I haven't had the chance to fish the glades yet. :'(
Belize, do a Google "fishing in belize" you will see why. JMHO
Ronnie
El Salto for bass, Central or South America for Peacocks.
Gans Lake (j/k its a 15 acre lake by my house)
El Salto for me too! ;D
I'll be at Forrest's house
If he's not home, I guess I'll borrow his plane and go join the party you guys will have rolling, down on the Amazon.
I'd love to fish South America for huge exotic catfish and Pacu's. Peacocks (wherever they get biggest) would be fun too.....
But when the poster said, "Bass fishing" I was assuming he meant "Largemouths" and that being the case, their is no place I'd rather fish that right here in Nor Cal. We have "bigger bass" than they do in those Mexican lakes :-)
BTW, when you see videos, and here's stories of El Salto, and other Mexican lakes and "all of the 10 lb'ers" you are only seeing the best of the best. Fact is, for the most part, those lakes kick out lots of 6 to 9's (and even then, not always) but a LOT of people go down there expecting a 10 plus fish or several, and end up disapointed.
All of this said, if I were to go to Mexico, I'd probably pic Baccarac...... The nearly forgotten, original Mexican big bass lake. From what I have heard, it is much tougher than the new, more popular lakes like El Salto. Much lower numbers of fish nowadays, but a much better shot at a really big fish of say 15 to 19 lbs. Even so, for a 20 plus fish, you probably have better odds in Southern California.
Peace,
Fish
I would love to fish in Florida, Texas or California for big bass.
I feel bad though because I live w/in 5 minutes of KY lake (already mentioned twice in this thread) and take it for granted. I can be fishing KY or Barkely in 5-10 minutes. I don't ever do as well as the stories I hear about my homelake so I have never personally seen the potential. I need to try harder I guess.
I would like to fish the lakes and rivers of the BASS circuit with the best guide on each body of water, a week or two in front of the tour. And, as others have mentioned, Brazil fishing for peacock bass, but they are not really "bass".
Any California lake for humongous bass would be good. Lake Fork in Texas and El Salto in Mexico would be fine too.
South of the Border and Mexico.
FOR ME, FROM APRIL THROUGH OCTOBER LAKE ST. CLAIR. NOT JUST BECAUSE I LIVE ON IT BUT BECAUSE IT'S A GREAT FISHING HOLE. (JUST ASK K.V.D.)
THE REST OF THE TIME IT'S A TOSS-UP BETWEEN SOUTHERN CAL, TEXAS, AND FLORIDA.(I'D LIKE TO FISH TOHO AGAIN BECAUSE THE ONLY TIME I FISHED IT WAS AFTER A HORRIBLE COLD FRONT)
Aprox an hour and a half from my house, I can be at some of the greatest fisheries in the state of California. Why would I want to go anywhere else?
Boundary waters of Minn and Canada for smallies. 8-)
No place but Texas for largies!
I'd like to do South America for peacock bass and the Orlando-Central Florida area lakes for LM bass.
Any where from a bass boat. 8-)
Add another for vote for Mexico. El Salto, Baccarac, whatever one is producing the most fun ;D
Like Fish Chris said, the marketing/advertising for those waters is probably over-hyped in terms of DD bass, but hey, "lots of 6-9's" is fine by me!!!
i would like to go here were i live i have everthing i need big bass and nice peacocks
1. Lake Champlain NY/VT
2. Lake Powell UT
3. San Juaquin Delta CA
4. Lake Amistad TX
5. Lake Toho FL
CUBA, for more more than one reason.
Dan
Toss up between the Amazon and El Salto.
If someone came to me today and offered me a trip to either ... I would have to flip a coin.
Frist off it would be tha amzon. But snice iam within of 5 miles of monster smallies so iam set.
Since I have great largemouth fishing close by, I'm going with a big smallmouth producer - Dale Hollow, Pickwick, Lake Champlain.
Alright so we need a group tour....first stops the amazon and then el salto and then all the other good places mentioned here. Im sure we can find a sponsor to pay all of our ways on this tour. And with all of the different lifestyles on here linked by one common obsession to fishing we could make one helluva a video!!!
It's not that difficult...
All you need is six numbers and they don't even need to be in any particular order...
You can buy them for every Wednesday and Saturday drawing...
Good luck!
I would say El Salto, by way of BASS' Monster Bass Chalange.
El Salto, Clearlake, Sam Rayburn, and one of those stocked ponds that Bill Dance fishes on TV.
If I were to pick them easy 6 numbers I would have my own stocked pond that would be WAY better than ole Bill's
If I could bass fish anywhere in the world, I'd bass fish everywhere in the world, and take my time doing it!
Lake Amistad in the spring.
Use to be okeechobee now it is somewhere in Mexico
I would go back to Lake St Clair for smallies. Just awsome. Forget the Largemouth.
1. Lake Guntersville
2. Lake Champlain
3. Lake Amistad
I would like to bass fish in the Grotto at the Playboy mansion. I know I wouldn't catch any bass, but you said anywhere in the world, and there's bound to be hotties lying around...
You said > Aprox an hour and a half from my house, I can be at some of the greatest fisheries in the state of California. Why would I want to go anywhere else? <
....I totally hear you, and I agree...... But didn't you mean to say > best in the 'world' < ? :-) ......for Largemouth bass, anyway.
Peace,
Fish
my vote is for EL SALTO and not just because I have family near by
For Largemouth...I'm just fine right here. I have a nice little lake about 30 minutes from me that is known to hold 15+ pound Largemouth so why would I go anywhere else? Except maybe to take a drive up to Northern California.
But I too would love to fish for Peacocks and other exotic species in South America. Someday...
im glad no one mentioned japan, because like myself, everyone would end up frustrated before finding it enjoyable to fish! not that there arent "big bass" but what we call big bass here are maxed at about 32 inches, maybe 8 pounds most!
so where would i like to fish, back home in the great ole US, less people, more access, less restrictions, cleaner water, oh and bigger fish, they dont have to be 20 lbs but something over the 12 inch average here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i *** all you guys back home, catch em up!
For me it would be smallmouth waters. Anywhere that I could catch 3+ pounders all day.
Anyone knowwhere that is?
Man, that is tough. There are so many guys here that have me wanting to fish a lot of places.
I would have to say it is a three way tie between the Cal Delta, Lake Toho in Florida and whereever RW catches those mutant huge smallies he has in that pic.
Brad
I don't want to fish anywhere where my bait has the potential to come back in two pieces.
El Salto
And if you havent fished in Michigan you must it is after all the Great Lakes State with the largest bodies of fresh water in the United States (I think even the world). There are so many monsters out here of all types, pike, muskee, bass, you name it. Deffinatly has got to be ONE of the very BEST states in the United States to fish.
Michigan? Doesnt it get cold up there???
QuoteMichigan? Doesnt it get cold up there???
Yeah it gets cold up here in the winter. Id say we got good fishing all year round. You can catch fall when it cools off, you can catch spring when there hungry from winter, you can catch summer when there aggitated more, and you can fish winter, id say only about a month and a half you can safely ice fish here. Not to mention we have The 3 Great Lakes; they are the three largest bodies of freshwater i know for sure of in the USA and ive even heard in the world before. This is just getting you started.. there are endless Ponds, Resvoirs, Lakes, Rivers, Streams. ALL water types, from Clear to Muddy, from sandy to muddy, from weedy to well you get the picture. Michigan is a year round Bass both LARGE and small (or about any and/or all fresh water fish) time to fish. Fishing in all types of water under different weather condititions is a fishermans dream IF they want to expierence the different types of fishing through all water conditions. In my opinion a real fish lover wouldnt let weather be a reason why he dont fish.
Thats easy just got home from Lake Simcoe Ont. Canada were it took 73 lbs to win a 3 day and 2 bags over 70 all Smallies. The water is like drinking water can see 20 ft. down. Lots of times you see the fish cast hook and watch the whole show.
Just Heaven.
Garnet
1.guntersville
2.El Salto
3.lanier(my home lake)
4.varner Ive always want to go down there.
Ray Scott's private home lake
Love the Stick Marsh
Some place with really hungry and p**sed-off 5 lbs smallmouth
HEY 405Z06, IF YOU WANT ILL-TEMPERED SMALLMOUTH COME TO MY BACKYARD (LAKE ST. CLAIR). IT'S 475,000 ACRES FILLED WITH BIG, MEAN SMALLMOUTH, JUST ASK GMAN.
KVD SAYS IT'S HIS FAVORITE LAKE ALSO.
I'M UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF PAIN MEDICATION RIGHT NOW OR I'D BE OUT THERE.
I'll just stay right here in Texas. If I was to take a vacation I would go to California to bass fish.
Mine would have to be in one of those private lakes that Bill Dance fishes in for his tv shows
QuoteIn my opinion a real fish lover wouldnt let weather be a reason why he dont fish.
Being a Florida boy, cold weather can stand in the way of ANYTHING. I think the last time it was 40 out I called into work because I would freeze to death just walking to the car. ;D
