Last year I started a contest for the largest bass relative to your state record and it's that time of year again. Most people are starting to thaw out so if you guys are ready then let's get signed up.
If you want to play, then all you have to do is declare your intention to get whipped by us Florida guys this year. :
This contest will run from daylight on April 15th through dark on May 30th. Anyone who has posted to this thread by midnight on April 14th is eligible to play.
Prizes to be determined at a later date.
I'm in again. I'll take the LM of course.
Can you post how to figure the percentages please?
Season in most Wisconsin waters starts first saturday of May. Hard to win a contest when you have less time to do it in.
RULES
1. This is for FUN...
2. Any Black Bass with a state record is eligible. You must have submitted your entry prior to midnight Apr 14, 2009.
3. This contest runs from daybreak on April 15th, 2009 to sunset on May 30, 2009.
4. Artificial bait ONLY. If you are sight fishing, the fish must be hooked inside the mouth. All fish must be caught in PUBLIC fishing areas. No private stocked ponds.
5. Scoring of the fish shall be completed as follows:
Example
FW = fish weight = 10.5 lbs (my pb)
SR = state record Fl = 17.27 lbs
FW / SR x 100 = your score
10.5/17.27x100 = 60.80 rounded to 2 decimals
In order for your fish to count, you must submit a picture, the state record weight for the state the fish was caught in, and an accurate weight of the fish. Your fish must be submitted within one week of being caught. (No sandbagging) You may submit as many fish as you want as long as subsequently caught fish are larger. All fish must be submitted before 7 am on May 31, 2009.
6. You can be disqualified for unsportsmanlike behavior. The definition of "unsportsmanlike" is completely at the discretion of myself and the moderators.
7. Entry Fee - You must post your intention to play on this thread prior to Apr 14th.
Directors Note-----Have fun, catch fish, and post your results......

i'm definitley in, and although i hope it isn't so, i probably won't even place...i was lucky to get 3rd last year
Ok, Im in, sounds like a great contest.
I'm game for Florida. If we fish another state as well can we submit fish for that state as well?
Yea sure start it now after the spawn is practically overOk I'm in
Put me in coach, I'm ready to play!
Here's the target!
A new Kansas state record largemouth bass was caught in a private strip pit in Cherokee County on May 3 2008 and has been certified by the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP). Fourteen-year-old Tyson Hallam, of Scammon, took the trophy fish during the West Mineral Eagles Fishing Tournament using a jig and pig. The monster largemouth weighed 11-pounds, 12.8-ounces, edging the 31-year-old state record of 11 pounds, 12 ounces caught in 1977 by Kenneth Bingham of Topeka.
QuoteI'm game for Florida. If we fish another state as well can we submit fish for that state as well?
You can submit for any state you fish in, but you can only have 1 score for placement. (you can't have a first place score for florida and a second place score for GA. Only your highest score will be counted)
QuoteYea sure start it now after the spawn is practically overOk I'm in
Well, if I started any earlier then those northern guys would be complaining about frozen water and out of season and other cry baby stuff like that. :'(
I'm in, but it's going to be tough to get close to that pig that was caught a (very) few miles from my house. At least the kid has a great t-shirt on.
I'm in. Don't Have anything to lose so why not
This Ohio boy wants to give it a go. I'm in. Not sure how much fishing will get done since im in college but friendly challenges are always fun.

You put us southern boys in the middle of post spawn which is the hardest time of the year to catch big bass.
That's alright I got big shoulders I can handle it.
For those who can't read it

Not you dude. You are guilty by association. "THE" Ohio State fans around me are complete 'holes and have yet to pay up from the first beat down.
PS What does the NIT have to do with football?
I was just playing
I'm in, lets just say that if I had known about this three weeks ago I may have been the winner. :-X
Caught this one last week. Not too big but I took a picture of her. I think already beat Dave ;D
Count me in, another Buckeye on board! FL/TX/CA guys- you get to catch Hawgs almost year-round, that is better than winning this or any contest!
Im in for Florida..

I'm in for Missouri and Kansas.
I am in. I am going to get a new PB smallie this year
In!
I'm in, although I wish we were doing it for the smallest or least amount of fish. I would take you old salts to school in that contest.
I guess I'll play again this year... even tho I smoked you guys last year.
Count me in. Sounds like the perfect challenge!
So the fish has to be bigger than the state record or what? If not how big does the fish need to be possibly with your state regulations right?
Im soooooooooooooo in!!!! NEW YORK. and its a good thing you guys didnt start any sooner considering its stinking FLURRYING with this white stupid stuff >
trav.
maybe we should do a team competition as well. maybe pair up guys in different states? thatd be kinda kool too. just a thought
I'll give it a shot for North Cakalaky.
count me in for Florida. On the off chance that I catch something other than a dink, I will post it up!!

I don't fish very often in Kansas, but just in case, I included it.
Y'all just stay up there around KC and stay away from SE Kansas. There isn't much water around here anyway. Kinda like western Ks. 8-)

BTW: I'm in, live in SD but do a lot of fishing in IA. Look out hawkeyes!!!!!

lol. the place #1 on my list no longer has a road to the boat ramp so i think kansas fishermen other than myself will be holding the big fish this year.

What good is its jaw, if the fish is dead, LOL?
I'll play for NY.
I'm in for Illinois.
The fish was and still is alive. I would never kill a bass. I was fishing from shore and when I pulled it up it hit the ground and got some sand and dirt on it.
Im in for NC
I am in from CA
I'll give it a whirl for Pa.
Probably don't have a chance in hell but I'm in for Maine.
Just to make sure I have this right; both smallies and largies are competing for the same weight? They are not going to be separate?

You are competing against your own state records, smallies and largies should have separate records:

I'm talking about the Kansas state record. Here is a link to the application. It seems like a tall order to keep a fish alive for that length of time for all the proper certifications to happen: http://www.kdwp.state.ks.us/news/content/download/16395/110860/file/Official%20KS%20Fish%20Record%20App.pdf
Add to that, the kid is holding the fish up in his front yard, and I think I can infer the rest of the story. Not for nothing, if I caught a state record, its probably going in the cooler.
I'm in for CT.
I'll join in too for CT

I'm in for smallies and largemouth for the states of Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota.
Count me in for WI.
Ok i'll play too we do have big bass in CT i've proved it already. I've seen even bigger bass than my 10lber that i caught too seeing this in this northern state has me thinking every state has to have bigger bass too. There not being caught because there smart, thats how they got to be that big in the first place. I'm fishing from shore too were i can be very stealthy thats the key to hooking one of the larger pigs. Just hit the shore at 4am. when these bigger bass are ambushing the baitfish in the shallows.
If the smaller places that i fish have big bass than the larger places that i fish have to have big bass too. Which also makes me think its not the 3, 4, 5, or 6lbers making all these baby bass too keeping these places stocked with bass its the big porkers doing it. Just make sure you return them to continue the bass population.
So lets post all our bigger fish(the best ones)????
I been hunting for a new state record anyway. I just took off a few years and now i'm chomping on the bit to get back at it. I fish everyday till i get burned out. I know a new state record is out there i've seen them already. Then move in and out like ghosts they just appear in the water. Make sure you wear polarized glasses all the time and look in the water constantly when reeling in a fish. They follow the smaller fish sometimes. They also eat bluegills and sunfish, they want a meal not a snack. (hint)
I'm feeling lucky, count me in for team hillbilly.
Put me in First place for Tennessee
