Aside from snagless hooks, unbreakable rods that are sensitive air knotless braid, what would you like to see developed/invented.
How about a jerk bait with a spring mechanism inside that would set in place and vibrate or shake for 2 or 3 seconds. It would recharge each time it was jerked.
Maybe live fishing advice from a pro.
Your on a lake having a tough time so you ring up a pro, give him the location, conditions, pan a live shot of the area with your camera and he gives advice on the next move to try. Sound far fetched?
I doubt I would use the service.
How about rod companies start putting rod tips on that don`t have the external brace that braid ties knots around.I know they are now available so why not use them.
A tackle box that would refuse to close if you put to much weight in it.
We all know of Hot Hands . Put them into true glove form, fingers and all,not just a pouch.
Spool charts to tell how much mono fill to put under braid

braid that is invisible like fluorocarbon so i could have the best of both worlds

would be awesome but braid would still get eaten up by rocks :/
I am actually working on something for my senior mechanical engineering design project that is fishing related, but I can't spill it. If for some reason it works well it would be patent-able.

Not unless it was a hybrid between the two.
It has the invisibility and abrasion resistance of fluoro and the memory, strength, sensitivity, and low diameter of braid.
The challenge would be to keep it under $50 a spool
A Bait monkey vaccine. A credit card that would "refuse" any purchases from a fishing tackle company. A line that would really live up to all the hype and really preform like it is promoted. A few lure manufactures that sell lures under $10.00 that you don't have to replace the hooks on because they are too d**n cheap to use good ones. A guide that doesn't think that you paid him $350 (plus tip) for him to fish. A lure company that doesn't discontinue your favorite color or lure. A hook that doesn't get dull. A GYBC senko that lasts more than 1-2 fish. Winter in the north country where we have to wait 6 months between outings. A cabin on a good southern lake like Guntersville for less than $1200 a week. Do you want more? Did I mention the bait monkey? God, I love bass fishing.
A drone..
A lure retriever with a 100% success rate.
Clam shell package on Hudds.
A blade bait for shallow water (If spro could put a treble on the tail of their 2.5" shad that would do the job).

How about a lipless? A good one is the Sebile FlattShad in the 1/4oz size.
I've used the smallest size Cordell Gay Blade and it works great, but, is a pretty small bait. Fine for smallies though.
Braided line with the same refractive index as water

I have experimented with different blades and lipless, so far a 1/8oz blade and the 2.5" bbz shad get bit the most. Someone needs to produce a blade with a big profile but small weight.
super accurate and detailed lake maps... Rods that are stronger, more sensitive and lighter weight that do not conduct electricity...

A line that can stand up to zebra mussels.

How about 'monel'?
I'm content right now.
If I find the fish I'm going to catch them most of time, don't see it any more complicated that that.
Nohow catches fish, not magic lures.
I need a way to stay cool. Those handkerchiefs that are soaked in water are suffocating in high humidity.
A line with the density of fluoro and the handling characteristics of braid would be very useful.
A self cleaning reel. Kind of like an oven. When you use it all the gunk that builds up in is forced out.
A Soft Plastic material that has the durability of Pork yet retains the action of todays baits.
For Stick baits, Craws & swim baits in particular.

I'd love to have crankbaits that remained perfectly balanced , straight up and down but tailed left or right.
A website that knows what I meant to order, and warns me when I select the wrong thing... "Ooops, you know those Large Replacement Pages won't fit your Jumbo Worm Binder, right?"
something to measure and implement industry standards on power and action of rods
I want a drone sub swimbait video game app.
Cast it out, whip out the smartphone while it dives and then drive that sucker around like a mini sub bass-seeking video game. When you see a bass, hit the A for a twitch, B for a wiggle, turbo button for an erratic "escape attempt" etc...
It would ruin fishing but it would be a blast.

This wins because it's the most legit complaint across the industry today IMO.
Reel warmers. up here in New England your reels get cold when the weather is cold and you loose ALL feeling in your hands. it would be nice to be able to fish comfortably in the winter. ALSO my friend and I both have Revos anti-reverse bums out when they get cold so a warmer may also benefit the reel as well as your hands

Ill roll along these lines and say guide warmers/heated guides too, keep that ice from building up.
This is an interesting thread. None of mine are particularly industry-changing like clear braid or anything, but that would be on my wishlist too.
Maybe
Teflon-coated line guides
Soft plastics that employ a more dense soft plastic in one area and a less dense plastic in other areas to create a sort of embedded ballast. I can think flukes might benefit from this. Like a bottom that is more dense to provide a keel to keep it upright, or a craw style bait with a more dense nose to have a nose-down effect without the weight (even though it'd sink slow - might be nice to have)
A braid that has different colored fibers inside so that you could easily tell which part of the line has too much/risky wear - kind of like tires have wear indicators
Also Im with most, a perfect line would be nice, braid+fluorocarbon best of both worlds. Oh and clicking drag on low pro baitcasters, like spinning reels have...
I'd love to get my hands on some tree-repellant for my lures. Not the wet trees, I'm fine with getting into the submerged trees.....I'm wanting something that will keep my lures from flying into the overhanging branches that have some sort of tractor beams tuned to my tackle.
Wiggle Warts to go back to the old mold and rattles.
As long as we're dreaming, I want a device which targets and fries mosquitoes, deer flies, and ticks BEFORE they can inflict any damage upon my person. I want an "umbrella" which hovers several feet over me (so as to not obstruct my casting), senses the suns position (relative to me) and then shades me comfortably. I want a water cooling machine which provides a nice cool (and pleasantly scented) mist of water over me on hot days. I want a very thin and comfortable electric body suit which not only makes me appear more muscular than I am but which also pulsates warmth on those nasty cold days. I want a trolling motor which reads my thoughts (even before I think them) and positions the boat perfectly for each and every cast. I want a battery which weighs less than 1 lb which will keep me trolling happily on an extended fishing trip AND provides enough power to grill numerous ham and cheese sandwiches. I want a fish finder which is so senstive and accurate that it will even do an ultrasound of the fish to see what they have been eating lately. I also want the images from the transducer to be displayed neatly on a heads up display on my sunglasses. I want a little remote control boat which can carry my baits quickly, quietly, and accurately under and/or around docks and overhanging trees, etc. I want little tazer device which I can use on my fishing partner when he (or she) is late at the dock, front boats me, or catches more fish than I do (especially if they have the poor discretion of broadcasting said discrepancy).

Yes on the rod standards and I would like to add hook sizes too
A test lab that would certify line sizes and tensile strength.
Heated gloves that are powered by generators in your boots. A little foot action to warm up the feet and hands
Motorized plug that could swim back under docks and tree branches
Rather B ,that is some funny stuff ,thanks
Im gonna agree with the guys that say a braid thats as clear as flouro or mono, but anything that makes fishing easier would probaly take the fun out of it. We all love those days we go out and get on a school of giants that will bite anything we throw at them and can catch 50 in an hour but if we didnt have those days that were tough that took all day to get 1 bite i probaly wouldnt be into fishing. Its the challenge that keeps me interested, also why i spend thousands on tackle and gear.
A low profile foot pedal for a cable steer trolling motor.
I'll also add that'd it'd be nice to have the option to plug in a foot pedal on transom-mount trolling motors. I know Motorguide has the Bulldog and there's the hotly criticized ProControll doo-dad, I'm still on the fence about it. But it'd be sweet if MK and MG would make an optional plug on their motors to add a basic foot pedal.

I was referring to their Fluoro-Braid. It has the sinking properties of FC apparently. Looking to try that this spring.
As for the Invisi-Braid ... It might be clearer but it's not fluoro.

something that keeps metal from burning up on the boat latches. I swear every time I kneel down I got burned.
Like mentioned, a line that has a mix of the good qualities of braid, fluoro, and nylon. Strength, abrasion resistance, invisibility, low memory, and manages/handles well.

Just messing with you. I fish barefoot and by noon I have to put my sandals on.
I have been saying it for years. Somebody needs to invent a super strong super sharp CLEAR hook. like a ridged fluorocarbon material made into a hook. When/if somebody invents that they will be very rich.

A true automatic shallow water anchor that a working man can afford.... You can get a 70" flat screen HD tv now for less than a bracket on these things.

I have always wondered that about the hudds
A bait with a micro camera in it that is connected to my depth finder. That way I can watch everything happening out there and see a fish swim up to take a bite!
I'd love to see someone come out with a 'stupidity canceling' pill and make it mandatory that anyone operating any form of watercraft take it prior to launching.
The other alternative would be an explosive device on jet skis that would detonate if the craft came within casting distance of my boat. It would totally ruin the jet ski and leave the operator unharmed.
Braid that sinks like fluorocarbon. 832 claims to do this but I can't see a difference.
More good quality 2 piece casting rods.
Crankbaits that swim back to my boat after i lose them...
Oh how I want a air conditioner built into the front deck that blows cold air right up my shorts and cools of all the vitals, during those unbearable summers in Florida. It would not get any better then that!!!!!!
They should add an addendum to the Family and Medical Leave Act, renaming it the Family, Fishing, and Medical Leave Act. I need 6 weeks of paid fishing leave from work, in addition to my normal PTO.

I've got one of those. A DT-6 in molting blue craw -- I've broken it off twice and it came back to me....once from the mouth of a rather large catfish that I couldn't land....that time it came back a ways down the shoreline and a good many minutes later....and once from some submerged timber...popped up well after I'd given up hope of seeing it again...not very often they come back after lodging in branches like that
I don't want anything really new, but have always wanted a fishing caddy, Much like a gillie in England. The caddy will be stationed in the back of the boat. If I bust off a jig, I could say, "how bout tying on a 3/4 football, green pumpkin and purple please, trim the weed guard a bit, and let's try it on the heavy Powell with 17 fluoro, I'll just munch on this sandwich and stare at the graph for awhile". Oh yeah, I want to hire one of the Tackle Tour models for my caddy.
That Matuka was great. A dream within a dream
1) Soft plastic baits that have a much firmer compound just at the head so it won't slide down from the hook eye -- for T-rigging or on a spring keep, or on a jig's trailer keep. This really sounds doable.
2) Also, in order to keep T-rigged plastic baits from sliding down the hook, there ought to be a tiny mechanical rivet gun that snaps a tiny plastic peg through the hook eye and plastic bait but is short enough to stay just inside the bait (or else protuberances would pick up green yuck). This could be easy too.
3) Develop a hook with a quick and easy (and light and cheap) way to detach or compress the hook barb to enable painless and injury free hook removal from fish or man (or angry girlfriend). This is not an easy one.
4) A good mechanism to hold my second rod when I'm bank fishing. Sounds feasible.
5) A holder to securely hold my iPhone on my head to make it a helmet cam. (There's probably something like that out there somewhere. Yes, I know, I know I'll look stupid wearing it.
6) And I really want one of those drone subs to see what's down there. I know those Florida summer bass are hiding somewhere! (Eventually my drone's going to drag a bait, too! - Ha! Of course by then they'll have a law against drone fishing.)

I believe the Arizona guys feel your pain.
We were in Phoenix in August because apparently my wife believes Southern California isn't hot enough that time of the year. It is a different type of heat, less thick, but when you are in the 110's, being a dry heat doesn't really make much of a difference. When the low for the day is in the 90's, the sweat just pours off you even before sunrise.
I want an auto plug for my boat so I never have to worry about it again.
I love the idea of industry standards for rods.
I would like the fishing industry to put in FDA like standards so manufacturers can't just run around making silly claims about their lures.
I want a shallow water anchor that works and costs around $300.00.
Oh and a law that if you unpack all your crap at the boat ramp, your boat gets taken away.
Yeah deffinetly a different heat, but both for sure are too hot for comfort. Florida really isn't that hot humidity is ridiculous. On 2/9/2015 at 7:03 AM, RSM789 said:I believe the Arizona guys feel your pain.

I sweat all night long night fishing in Kansas. We get the best of both worlds, sub zero temps in the winter, and triple digits with near 100% humidity in the summer time. Plenty of nights I'm out it never drops below 90 with so much humidity that everything in the boat is soaked by morning.
I'd like to see a document invented that says "If you want to patent a product it must use the highest quality components available at all times in order for the patent to be active". That would be Z best thing ever .
