Which do you prefer while fishing? I stand most of the time for most techniques except when I'm using worms. I find it hard to stand and fish slow.
Stand always, but an occasional sit to rest.

always stand even if i do sit its on the edge of my seat
The only time I sit is to rest or if I'm fishing from a kayak.

same. i almost always sit when fishing plastics, unless i'm pitching into cover.
I sit. Boat's too small. :-[
I used to sit when I fished in a canoe but now I can stand in my other boat, so I stand all the time. I feel like I can't fish as well when I am sitting.
Both but with major back problems it's sitting more
I stand . My boat came with a seat for the front , but it is in a closet.

Exactly what i do! I tried a hard hook set with a t-rig while sitting once and almost fell out of the boat!!!
Sit and I prefer lower seats as to decked/high pedestals
Stand,I find it awkward sitting down trying to set the hook.I fell off a rock once doing that. :-[
Why did you have a rock in the boat in the first place???
I always stand......
During the day, I always stand.
At night I always sit unless I am throwing swimbaits. Dont know why I always sit while night fishing, but I always have.
More standing than sitting...but still plenty of sitting.
always stand.
unless im out fishing for more than 3+ hours , OR if some buddies are around and drinks/BSing is involved.
Usually standing or on the leaning post.
i lean against the butt seat
I stand always. No seat on the front deck. I would be opposite of the posters above if I did sit, I would be throwing something that had treble hooks on it. I pretty much use my whole body to set the hook using plastics. It usually starts with a step back.
i do both, but probably stand more than sit.
If I can (depending on who is in the boat and how wake is), I will stand. Get a better view of what is going on and I have much more control while casting.
That being said I do my fair share of sitting, and can be effective that way as well. The new rig I want to buy in the spring, that will be a standing rig.
I stand for as long as I'm able to, but sit frequently. These old bones can't take it standing all day any more!
Its easier for me to set the hook while I am standing. The only times I sit are when I am changing baits or eating.
Since I don't do any break dancing on the front deck (Ike style), I have either a sit down or stand up seat up front. For flipping and pitching, I prefer the stand up seat for everything else, especially deep cranking, I prefer a sit down. I have lower back issues so some type of sitting/leaning is better for me.
Sit. Have no choice in my smaller canoe. I can stand in my wider, semi-vee canoe, but still sit.
I have stood and cast recently, and the perspective is dramatically different.
After sitting while fishing for many hours over the last year, when I stood, it seemed like I was about 12 feet tall.
Sitting in the canoe makes me feel like a part of the pond.
Can't beat it for handling the fish when you get them to the boat.
99.9% of the time I stand.
I'm shore bound/wading bound. So, I'm always standing.
I stand when casting artificals for bass & crappie, sit when bait fishing for stripers or catfish.
I normally stand unless there are larger boats or a jet ski zooming by!

Stand I only sit if I have to tram with the trolling motor to another spot, it it is close by. I do sit once in a while because of back aches.
I stand as much as my knees and back will allow. I feel like I have more control standing then I do sitting.
Later,
I stand all the time, even at tournaments. It doesn't feel I'm giving it my all if I'm sitting.

i stand always mainly cause im using a jon boat and my seat is just mounted on existing frame seat.
I stand to fish everything but soft plastics. I just can not seem to slow down enough with out sitting down.
Matt
Both. Depending on how I feel.
I always stand.....But with SML's constant boat traffic and huge wakes you are forced to "lean" against the butt seat alot.
If it were not for the constant beating you take on that lake I would not even have the butt seat.
I fish the same way I pee.
QuoteI fish the same way I pee.
How can you set the hook while sitting down though, LOL!!!!
Just kidding man!!!
i use a leaning seat when im on the trolling motor, when im in the back i sit when troughing slow baits and stand when cranking, top water, and other faster baits.
I try to get to highest point on my boat for best vision.
Mostly stand
"Why stand when you can sit?" - Winston Churchill
I try to stand as much as possible. I fish out of an 8' Pond Prowler and it took me some time to get used to standing in it. I have found they are pretty steady on the water. I feel I have way more control of my casts when I stand but I do alright sitting too.
Always stand except to run the boat to a new location.
I stand all the time. I get more distance on my casts, and better hook sets, while standing. When I used to walleye fish, I sat all the time while trolling.
Falcon
When I owned a small open boat with "bench seats", I had to do everything from a seated position.
Today, I always fish from a standing position, and about the only time I sit is to re-rig or relocate.

I AGREE! 8-)
I'd love to be able to stand but with a 12' jon I'm stuck in the seat 99% of the time. It's got to be some very calm water in order for me to be able to stand...even then its not a "steady" comfortable way of fishing.
Both.
Majority of my fishing is bank, surf or pier and I stand 100% of the time.
I off shore fish once a week and probably sit maybe 25% of the time.
I stand most of the time until back starts to hurt then sit for a few minutes
I fish from the banks of the ponds here in my neighborhood so i stand 90-100 percent of the time only time i sit is if i get a sore back from fishing to long then i sit on my takle box or ground for 5 or so min and back to the feet.
almost always stand

I have the 9' one and rarely stand although the boat is pretty stable. I just go with Churchill's statement of 'Why stand when you can sit?'.
I usually stand an d lean against my butt seal. When the legs and back are tired I'll sit.
