Who is starting to see fall fishing patterns already?
LOL! No even close! Still in the upper 90s & 6" of rain over 3 days!

Same here in SW Fla...
Mike
Nights & mornings are cool, but daytime temps are still in the 70+ range out here in Mass. My 'regular' reservoir is still pretty slow.
Yes, and yes. And that's all I am saying.
No.
Autumn is tomorrow.
It was a bit nippy this morning.
It's Starting
Yes. Water in the mid 60's already. Soon it will be ice.
not quite air temps are in the 80's for the last few days but the bite is still summerish
Definitely up here in northern Ontario. Bite has been more difficult of late and I'm in a tournament tomorrow morning where I imagine it won't be any better.

Haven't been out for 3 weeks now, but I have a feeling we were/are going through the transition (Southern Ontario). Only reason I took some time off, my wrist and middle finger, ring finger and pinky has been sore. Still not fully healed, but I can't just let the season just roll by. My hand can rest after the season is up.
Low of 73 this morning. I need to find my winter gear soon.
It's been 30 degrees the last few nights here in north Wisconsin. By all means it's fall!
Those are great nights for a good bonfire with family and friends. On 9/22/2013 at 10:41 PM, The Young Gun said:It's been 30 degrees the last few nights here in north Wisconsin. By all means it's fall!
I love being on the water in the Autumn, even if the fishing sucks. It is POSITIVELY my favorite time of the year.

Not me ! actually it´s been raining cats and dogs for the past two weeks, you can´t go fishing with this weather.
Here in Northern California, we had rain pouring so hard on the first day of the fall. The air temp is in mid 70's. It feels like fall. I'm heading out soon so hopefully the bite is good.
I wish it was fall around here was out today and fishing is still slow.
Ohhhh yea...... yesssssir I love it..............
Not yet but it's getting there. Water temp was 71 today. I can't wait to start throwing my lipless cranks for those bass chasing the shad.
Last Sunday water temp was between 82 and 83F and no action. Today the water temp was between 73 and 74F and was catching a few bass on crankbaits so fall is approaching and the way the water temp is dropping fish should be on fall pattern next week or the week after at the latest. Can not wait until fall pattern takes over and fishing starts getting better.

Haha, I agree for us New Yorkers.
Here in South East Texas, we just had some blessings in form of a Cold Front/Rain Storm. 60F this morning. 58F forecasted for tonight. Shallow bite is getting better by the day. Still plenty of Bass Deep too. Swimbait and Crankbait Time!
I am... water temp on my favorite lake dropped eight degrees down into the mid 70's after two days of torrential downpour. Absolutely destroyed them on squarebills today.
It has started here. We went from highs of 95 to highs of 75 in about 3 days.
Well, we just had our first day where the temp didnt start with a "9" since May. However, mid week is back up to mid 90's......
No fall yet for the Houston area.
Finally got a little break! Temps mid-upper 80s for highs, with mid 70s @ night, & clear skies.
But it's only gonna last a day or 2
Leaves are fallin in east tenn. Getting close....so want to head out.
Fall patterns are swinging in here in NE Ohio! I have a love/hate relationship with fall... It signals the end of the fishing season, but at the same time the fishing can be great given the right conditions
fall here in wisco. Frost on cars in the morning and salmon run is hot hot

You don't get any fall footballs?? Idk if I'm reading it right that fishing sucks for you or even if the fishing is bad for a few days its still.your favorite.
its been a hell of a week literally. over 100 degrees every day this week here in Puerto Rico. It has been worse than july. Very tough bite.
You wouldn't know it by waling outside, September can be the most humid and uncomfortable moth here. I haven't considered bass fishing in a few months except 30 minutes of casting in my community ponds.
Nights in the 50's and even a couple in the 40's have made the water temps drop like a rock. They went from low 80's to low 70's in a week at one of the lakes I fish often. The first couple days after the cold weather was a little tough but now that they're getting acclimated it's starting to fire up!

I don't understand about the footballs, but what I meant, is when I am catching fish, it's GREAT! But even if they are not, I still enjoy the cool fall mornings, the colors of the leaves, and the foggy mist usually hovering over my favorite lake. Man, is that poetry or what...lol.
Bass shaped like footballs they are so fat!
Water temps were 62 this morning and got up to 67 in some areas I fished.
It's getting cooler out: 50's @ night, higher 60's during the day. Can't say for sure, but I know the fish have disappeared from my usual pond. I've thrown Senkos, Zoom baits, spinner baits, and crank baits with nothing more than a Sunfish.
Too bad hand grenades are illegal... That'd catch something .
I think it is so awesome on here reading everyone's posts because they vary so much depending on where you live.
It is cloudy, cool and windy here in Northern Illinois. The fishing has definitely been very tough.
Hopefully I can get another 4-6 weeks of fishing in before I have to put the boat away for winter.
Here in Maryland LAST weekend, water temps in the upper 60's. We killed them on hollow body frogs, even with a 68 degree water temperature. Night time air temps in the 40's with days in the 70's. All this past week, air temps in the upper 80's to 90 degrees. Today the water temperature was 76 degrees. An eight degree increase since last week. I thought just maybe, fishing would continue to be good. I was wrong. By 11 AM, the creek was a ghost town. By 1:30 PM, we called it a day.
surface temp at my favorite lake yesterday was 58.5 degrees... wasn't able to find anything biting!!!!
Update from Puerto Rico... I went last week, it was great, a great bite and a lot of fish, I saw a lot of leaves from the trees in the road and the lake had this cool breeze that I always associate with Xmas. In a week of two the fishing is going to rock!!!
Yelp 57
Went out saturday and water temps were low 70's and it looked like the lake had a late algea bloom that blanketed most of the lake i think that helped cool the water off quite a bit and apparently made the fish hungry first 30+ fish day I've had in a very long time not many big girls but a few nice 3 lbers its starting to feel like fall finally cool nights in the 50's and mid 70's at midday the leaves are falling and the fog on the water first thing in the morning makes me think there's something magical goin on out there as i cast my spook around that first blowdown of the day.
Our temps took a big downward dip this week.
Last week we hit almost 80 twice and this week we have lows around 33 and the high today was 53.
Hopefully it doesn't kill the bite for me.
We are in transition and man its rough
Just got back from a week in Northern Wisconsin. Water temps were in the high 50's and the largemouth were very active on shallow weedy flats on natural lakes. Spinner baits and jerkbaits took fish consistently all week.

I am in northern Illinois and the patterns are similar.
Last week I was lighting them up on a Lucky Craft Bevy Shad and Siebert Outdoors swim jig with a Swim Senko trailer.
Hopefully it is still going strong on Friday when the air temps are in the 30's when I hit the water.
I'm in NC, and they're feeding nicely.....plastics have treated me well lately.....I've also caught several on cranks
Friday of last week water temperature on Toledo Bend in Louisiana/Texas was in the low 80's upper 70's, so right on the cusp of fall. Not much action going on in a small friendly tournament we had: fished for 4 hours, placed 3rd out of 10 and caught one keeper at 2 pounds 8 oz, fished weed lines and docks near creeks, so maybe they are not that shallow yet??? Just had a pretty dramatic cold front come through yesterday/today dropping air temperatures by 20 degrees here in Louisiana. That ought to cool the water and hopefully get some activity into the solid fall patterns. The Red River/Sabine will usually runs 2-4 degrees cooler in my area than local lakes so chances are we are just starting to see a transition in the non-flowing water bodies....
I am heading out in the morning and the windchill is supposed to be 29 degrees at 7am.
The afternoon high is supposed to be somewhere around 50 degrees.
I just got some new Lucky Craft SKT crankbaits (Medium and Deep) today and plan
on putting them into the mouths of some Bass first thing in the morning.
Our water is in the mid 60's and we are going look for schooling fish that are chasing shad tomorrow. It's hard for me to rely on my electronics so much but that's how you learn.
39* when I launched this morning.
Not quite here yet, but the fish know it's close. We've had a couple of cold fronts with lows in the 50's - the first morning when they've hit has been some really hot fishing, but then it slows down real quick, and stays slow thru the next low pressure.
Overall though, it's been a heckuva a lot better over the last month than the summer... whew!
I have to tell you guys the Lucky Craft S.K.T. MR in MS American Shad is one of the best crankbaits that I have ever used. The fish were absolutely crushing it.
I caught so many fish on it that every time I got it hung up I was worried I would lose it because I only have 1.
47° sunny
This weekend water temperatures in a Reservoir in Central Louisiana was 70 degrees even (bigger drop than I expected). Got out at about 10:00 on Sunday (Infant kept me up all night, got to sleep occasionally), caught one on a spinner bait (probably 1 pound) and the rest of the time not much bass action. Friend went out early in the day and caught 4 in 4 hours.
I will know when the top water bite picks up it's been kinda slow wit random good days/hours
In 6 days we have gone from transition to cold supposed to be 32 in the am Friday
Here in the Chicago area, we skipped fall and went straight to winter. It was snowing here today.

Same for MN, it's felt like winter the past 5 days. We had snow over the weekend.

Same here. It snowed all day yesterday.
Finally! Tomorrow has a forecast low of 57. That will be the first time since March that we have been below 60.
