Those pictures on the hawg gallery. That guy looks mighty familiar!
Awesome product. Been testing for months for them. Got to say, it makes a difference in handling the fish, and looks great too. GET SOME!
Looks nice but is it priced to move? If it costs almost as much as another reel, id rather buy another reel.
I agree with Diggy. If these cost more than about $50, I wont purchase one.
I can always order a Carbon Fiber handle from a BPS reel for a fraction of what one costs from Japan. Heck, the REVO store will have them available soon. The only reason I could see spending over $50 bucks would be the cork handles, but even then, I wouldn;t go over $75
where is it made?
I had a chance to check this reel handle out this past April.
Dwight was fishing one, it's pretty sweet.
I think I even took a couple of those photos on the site.

DIggy/BASSclary,
The Hawg Handle will sell for $79.
RobertBG,
The handles are built in our shop in South Florida.
Matt/A-Jay,
Thanks for the encouraging words. I think you will find the latest production material to be even better.
Sure you could buy another reel for the $, but what are you going to get? Junk? These handles are designed for added performance, and that they do add. Other handles buy these companies are just that, "other handles". Same dimentions as stock, but just carbon fiber. I can tell you that not only are these handles made with the best carbon fiber you can get, and its pure, not plastic carbon fiber like what comes on the Lews reels, but they are longer than stock to give you more power. These are made for the serious fisherman, and those are the ones who will mostly understand the true importance of a great product like this. For the $, its a great product.

Decent price if you if you ask me,especialy considering it is made in the US
We think we're competitively priced at $79. The only other handle out there that I would consider a serious competitor is the ZPI handle...and that is selling for $149, last time I checked.
ZPI makes a nice product....we ordered one long ago when we were evaluating our first prototypes. I am confident that we stack up at least as well as they do from a quality/performance standpoint, at ~half the price.

I wouldn't exactly say junk, The price of the handle is more than I paid for my(all new) PQ/revo sx/citica e/carbon black/carbon lite
The price is more than I'm willing to spend but the fact its made in the USA, it looks awesome, it can make a nice upgrade to a reel is great and its cheaper than the JDM offerings for those that are willing to pay for something like this.

I thought that was him. You guys must have had fun on that trip.
What about weight? Any comparisons to stock Shimano handles? I am interested!
Jeff
Does the weight of the handle include the nut, screw and sleeve that goes over the nut? I'm ready for a new, longer handle on my Calcutta (if yours will fit). My Calcutta handle is 29.2g and 32.9 with the hardware.
Are you going to offer a swept handle? I'd be willing to put a swept on on my Fuego and 50E for 79.
Also, a really cool small edition would be to have an option for black an silver for the nut, but to have the nut ring available in several anodized colors to match your reel. The black and black is kinda bland. If you did that i'd be all over them.

Jeff,
A couple Shimano reels for comparison...
Curado 200E handle: 84mm long, 34.5grams
Curado 200G handle: 84mm long, 32.6grams
Hawg Handle: 94mm long, 25grams

Doug,
No, the 25g weight does not include the mounting hardware. The nut/screw/retainer should be about a wash. I will check it and get back to you....

Shhhhh.....you're giving away the 2013 business plan...
Seriously though, there is something in the works pretty similiar to what you described. We are definately considering a special edition "Calcutta" version which has gold anodized nut retainer, gold screw and gold accents on the cork knob carriers.
Keep the good ideas coming...
No worry. I was just curious. Calcuttas weigh enough without having to add a heavier handle.I was hoping to shave a 1/4 ounce, haha. I need one asap if they'll fit. Longer handle of equal/less weight is a win in my book.
Haha, we hit the enter button at the same time.
And don't listen to BassClary, he can't even ride a scooter without breaking it :laugh5:
I'm all over it. Let me know when they are available

2013!!! I dont know if I can wait that long... If you have any prototypes for em' I'll give them a real nice workout
Hello all,
Mike and I decided to partner up to form a business centered around our favorite hobby bass fishing! As you can imagine we tossed around many ideas we believe we found a niche with our handles. I am a tackle junky like many of you and have tried many reels, from hard to find JDM reels to the latest offerings for our American bass market. I have also tried aftermarket reel handles from Japan such as ZPI and Bass Art, and have been impressed with their performance over stock/factory handles, but the price seemed high even to an enthusiast like me. Nevertheless, these experiences as well as fishing with the equipment 2-3 days/week helped us in our product design. I believe that if fished on a consistent basis side by side you will notice that our Hawg Handle is more comfortable with its larger custom made cork knobs, stronger due to carbon fiber thickness and knob spidle design, and offers more leverage without being too long and cumbersome. I have been fishing prototypes for some time now and can tell you that when I pick up reels without the handle on it I can't wait to change it out. Lastly, I would like to not only thank bass resource for providing a venue to share knowledge about fishing, but fellow forum members for helping with feedback in the development and field testing of our handle.
Tight lines to all and thanks for your support!
Signing out from the Keys going to try fishing for blackfin tuna this morning and land a HAWG using my Hawg Handle equiped Daiwa Pluton!
Will there be a Hawg Handle for the Lew's line of reels? I've got several that would look really good with Hawg Handles!

fishhook,
Yes, the Hawg Handle is universal (two basic mounting sizes to account for crankshaft diameter) and will fit virtually all baitcast reels.
And, yes, the Hawg Handle DOES look good on a Lews...

While the price of your handles is more than my budget allows, it looks like you guys have a real winner. Fortunately my budget is not representative of most folks. I may start saving my pennies to have the coolest PQ on the block though. I wish you both great success. Just remember us little people when you hit the big time!
Glad to see things moving along Mike and Robert. Well done you two. Wish you guys all the success in the world. Loved hearing everything about ICAST when I spoke to you last time, Mike. Just awesome.
Should have said you were down in the Keys, Robert. I just came back with the boat loaded with lobster and fish. Lots of stuff to get caught down there right now. Been a good week.
Mike, stop catching all the big fish out at Lox.

K_Mac,
We appreciate the well wishes. It may not be in your budget right now, but stand by....I am going to post a sweepstakes in a couple minutes which will give the chance for BR members to win a free Hawg Handle.

Good way to get product promotion out, you've got something really cool here.
