I haven't..... but will get it today.
I think their might be a few states in which your license are good for 1 year from the date of purchse, huh ? Here in Cali though, it's Jan. 1st to Dec. 31st. Meaning, if you buy your license on Dec. 15th, it's only good for 2 weeks !
Speaking of fishing license, how much do your states charge ? Here in Cali, if you buy the main license, plus the enhancement stamps (two rod and bay delta) it's like $45....... which is a lot for somebody who only fishes a few times a year. But for me, it's an absolute steal of a deal ! The best money I spend all year :-) Works out to like .30 cents a trip :-)
Peace,
Fish
PS, Just don't let it get past you ! A no license ticket in Cali will cost $400 to $600 !!!
Just Texas, not RI yet,lol.
Virginia just went to a 12 month license, good for 12 months from the date of purchase, this past summer. Costs for '07 are $34.00 per year for both freshwater and stocked trout waters, not including saltwater. To add in saltwater is another $12.00 annually.
Hillbilly
In GA it is a year from when you bought it. I turned 16 in Feb. and i think i bought my license at the beginning of March. I will probably buy this year's license the day after my birthday so i can remember when I bought it. In GA, a year, resident fishing license is only $9.
On Toledo Bend a Texas or Louisiana license is acceptable; my state of resident's on my drivers, contractors, hunting, and fishing license is Louisiana.
Louisiana Fishing Basic Fishing License $9.50
Salt Water License $5.50
Total: $15.00
i have a Kansas lifetime liscence.. it was around 880 for a fish hunt combo. a regular fishing liscense here is around 23 i think... it goes from january 1 through december 31, but if you buy one after Dec. 15th then it carries over to the next year...
I'm with playmaker47, got my Lifetime hunting/fishing liscense no more worry about forgetting to buy one. ;D
You with the lifetime licenses, what happens if you lose it, whats the replacement costs?
I normally fish in Minnesota and Wisconsin. I think our resident license in Minnesota is around $18 but for a non-resident license for Wisconsin is $50. What a rip-off that is. Get to fish around 6-7 productive months a year. They should have seperate seasons up here. A Open water fishing license and a frozen water license for ice fishing. I get screwed cuz I don't ice fish. Oh well, nothing is ever fair.
the lifetime liscenses are a card like a credit card or your BASS membership card. all the information is saved on the Department of Wildlife and Parks computers so you just have to go in a get a new card if you lose yours. i think it might be 5 or 10 bucks to get a new card.
NJ basic fishing = 22.50 add 10.50 for a trout stamp. Although someone introduces legislation every year to start salt water licensing, so far, it's been shot down every time.
I have to wait until next week to get a new one, if I bought it today it would expire tomorrow 12/31/2006. LOL

I'm sure you could say you want a '07 license and they would print it up for you.
Here in Michigan, our license will expire on March 31,07.
I know our license fee is going to increase, but i'm not sure how much. The old fee was $15.00 and $15.00 for Trout and Salmon stamp.
Falcon
In PA the fishing year is the Calendar year Jan. to Jan. My local baitshop didn't receive their allocation yet. I noticed that when I got a NY license that their's runs like from Oct. to Oct. I don't do any ice fishing so I can wait a few months.
Chow
Here in Nebraska its from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31. $20 takes care of everything. Fishing License $15 and Stamp $5.
Our fishing season ends March 31, 2007 for the '06 season. I think mid-march is when the ice houses need to be off the lakes.
I fish in TN and KY. Both states expire the end of February. In February I'll be buying those and one for TX for the Fork trip.....does the bait monkey have something to do with this?????? ;D ;D
Ohio license don't expire until the end of Feb. and it's 19.00 unless they raise it.
utah is 27 dollars and an extra fifteen if you wanna use 2 poles license is good for 365 from date of purchase

Cabela10,
I'm sure you are right, I can probably get a new license today. I guess you missed the LOL at the end of my post. It was a lame joke. HAPPY NEW YEAR!

one of the good things about being 14 in NJ is that you dont need a lisence intil you are 16.
Another good thing is that land owners are more likely to let a couple of youngsters fish their ponds than some dude with a bass boat.
$64 good from aug 31 - aug 31. includes freshwater fishing, saltwater, migratory gamebird, upland gamebird, and 5 deer tags.
In Illinois our license expire March 31st. The cost is $13 for a normal fishing license.

kb here in indiana there free
if you are 65 or older kb
I was at a tackle shop last weekend and they were selling the 07 fishing licenses. In Pa a resident fishing license is $21.00, but because 99% of the lakes around where I live are stocked with trout, I have to buy a trout/salmon stamp also which is $8.00. In addition I have to buy a Lake Erie stamp so I can fish in Erie which is also $8.00. But you can buy a combination trout/Erie stamp and the state shaves a little bit off the price, both together cost $14.00.
So the total for a Pa fishing license is $35.00.
I forgot to add that the license is good from January 1 through December 31. So if you buy the current year's license on Dec 1, it would only be good for 31 days.
I was wondering if the guys who fish the big circuts have to buy fishing licenses in each state that they fish in?
Florida is 13.50 year and is good for 12 months at time of purchase. (add 2.25 if you purchase from internet)
I dont know about Elite tour and such but most other tours, events require you to have a license for that state. I heard someone talking once about a national license. I dont know if there was validity behind the talk, but it would be cool if it existed.
Nope here in rocky top I don't have to have one til Im 13 ;)
Im with bucketmouth, not quite old nuff for a license yet:) hehehe
North Carolina adult basic statewide freshwater is $15. Starting Jan.1, Saltwater license is another $15 or you can purchase a salt/fresh water license for $35. Good for a period of one year from time of purchase. Freshwater trout stamps are extra. You can bring as many rods as you can fit in the boat. a . For 2007 NC is also doing away with allowing people fishing in their county of residence with natural bait for free.
New York is $19.00 a year. Good from Oct 1 to Sept. 30. Seems there is always a tournament or 2 in the fall and you have to remember to renew it.
I don't know of any state fish and game law that says "Elite tour fisherman are exempt from needing a license" Wouldn't that be cute if it happened and the word got out.
Reminds me of the George Orwell classic novel "1984"
"Everyone is equal, except some people are more equal than others"
QuoteI was wondering if the guys who fish the big circuts have to buy fishing licenses in each state that they fish in?
They are not special. They all need to purchase state fishing licenses for the lakes they are on. Usually thats in the rules saying you must have a state fishing license on your possession.
In the state of MO our licenses are good until the end of February. So the one I have now is still good. But you can bet come March 1st I'll be at my local Walmart renewing my license for another year. It only costs $12. Lot's better than getting nailed by a game warden without one. The license covers MOST general fishing...I think if you are trout fishing to have to have a trout stamp. They run $7.00.
kb here is it the same way it was in texas if you had a texas lic. it was good in any state that touched texas kb
I thought you just get your license after you've had your old one for a full year. Is it supposed to be done at the first of the year even if you haven't had your other license for a year? I live in Florida.
My resident Missouri comes due the end of Feb. They are $11.00. I also get Illinois non-res ($24.50) and Kentucky non-res ($35.00, but heard they were going to $50). Believe the Ky expires the end of Feb also, with the Illinois the end of March. Get the non-res on the internet, that way I don't have to drive around looking for a place that isn't sold out of them, or hasn't received their allotment. That has happened a couple of times.
finally got around to getting my Cali license today, and it was more than I had heard.... $54.65 to be exact, (total for license, plus enhancement stamps).
I believe this might be the most expensive fishing license in the US, huh ? None the less, as I said before, it's still the best money I spend all year.
Peace,
Fish
In Ky they expire at the end of feb and the costs of the 06 license for residents was I beleve $15 but the license for 07 season are going up for residents and non residents http://www.kdfwr.state.ky.us/licensefees.asp?lid=621&NavPath=C128C199C295
just a quick thanks to FishChris for this post.
For some reason, I thought that my license expired each year on my birthday.
But I decided to check and saw that my license expires tomorrow.
Then I remembered in NY i used to get my license each year on my birthday.
It's funny how as you get older things that happened 10 years seem like yesterday, but things that happened yesterday like when I ............um.........wait a second.............don't tell me.............
Well anyway I'm here today, so SOMETHING happened yesterday

Fish was that with the 2 rod stamp? We do have the most exspencive licance in the U.S.
Here in PA there good from Jan 1 to Dec 31.
These are always the wifes no brainer Xmas gift for me.
Hey Chris I'm just glad that some of the money we spend on licences in California goes to trout planting.(a.k.a. bass bait) ;D ;D ;D
Got mine on new years eve. This is what I got away with.
2007 California Resident Sport Fishing License = $37.30
2007 Ocean Enhancement Stamp = $4.20 (I'm going to start playing in the surf this year 8-))
Total = $41.50
Cost of the look on your buddies face when you stick a pig = PRICELESS!!
I never have 2 lines out at once so I didn't get a second rod stamp.
California has a lifetime fishing license for $681.75 for a person my age. I will probably get one next year. It makes total sense in the long run.
Yes.In MS the license is from June 30,2006-June 30,2007.I'll have to buy one right before the Forth of July.
Wow California charges extra for each line in the water or are you only allowed two in anyway. Here in Ky if you can get out 100 you can do it no extra charge
Yeah, I'm surprised we don't need a stamp to attach a reel to a rod. :
Not sure how many lines total you are allowed to have in the water at once. I should know though...
IN license is good for 1 year from date of purchase. I just turned 18 and i will have to buy my second fishing license ever as you have to be 17 to need one in IN. I think they are 17.00 for regular plus 12.00 for trout stamp if I remember right.
I really like the way VA changed our licenses to run a year from the date of purchase. Now if only TN would do that (wanted to fish TN last year after I got my boat, didn't want to spend $40 on a license that I would only use two or three times).
I'm looking at
$17 state resident
$17 state resident trout
$3 national forest stamp
$12 local reservoir license
$41 TN non-resident license
$90 + the $51 for the VA hunting licenses. Costs me a good little bit every year for the 'priviledge' of hunting and fishing.
compared 2 the amound of money we spend on fishing tackle every year, the license is the cheapest thing
i got my license yesterday
i ll let the bass rest for another 40 days or so ;D
I gotta re-up Feb. 18th! I live right on the state line so I gotta get KY. and TN. licenses...
Here in PA a fishing license is good for 13 months. Jan 1 to Dec 31 of the current year and the December of the previous year. So you can buy a 2007 license on Dec 1, 2006 and it will be good until Dec 31, 2007.
http://sites.state.pa.us/PA_Exec/Fish_Boat/faqlice.htm#4
A resident license is $22.00, $9.00 for a trout stamp, $9.00 for a lake Erie permit. if you buy both it is only $15.00.
http://sites.state.pa.us/PA_Exec/Fish_Boat/faqlice.htm#3
I mostly fish Illinois and Wisconson, both expire at the end of March, at least I think that Il still expires on3/31 but not compleetely sure about that because I haven't had to have one for the past 5 years, But Wisconsin really hurts at $50 bucks for non resident and this year I will have to pay them even more for a family license so the wife can come with.
QuoteNot sure how many lines total you are allowed to have in the water at once. I should know though...
No more than two total in fresh water.
I believe you can have more in salt water.
correct me if im wrong but i thought many states sold 3 day or 1 week fishing passes so you dont have to pay full price for a couple trips a year
Got my VA license on-line yesterday.
Lifetime, baby!
Found out a fringe benefit though might not work all the time....
Last time out, we were checked at the ramp for licenses and boat regs. We weren't the first that they checked. When they came to us, he asked for licenses and I pulled out my lifetime. The GW said, "A true Texas sportsman." Didn't even bother to check the boat.
Forgot to mention that in MS the freshwater license is $9.85.The saltwater license license is $5.85.You can buy both for $15.70.
in NH the License is good from Jan 1st - Dec 31st. I bought mine 2 days ago I plan on getting out on some cold water this weekend. $35.00 for a NH Resident Fishing License.
super combo in Texas is $64.00 but i htink next year im gonna forget the hunting part and just get the fishing licsense i think its like 28 unless it goes up again valid through 8/30/06 to 8/31/07
I am from New York, and like another guy said our license is $19 and good for 1 year (Oct1-Sept31) what surprises me is how much LESS our NY license is than alot of other states, New York tradtionaly taxes and over charges it residants through the nose, I guess my license is a bargin.
