Road Trip 2014? 2024

fishing user avatarFishinDaddy reply :

Can you at least tease us with sketchy, inaccurate info?

fishing user avatarFishing Rhino reply :

The off season is fast approaching up here.  I'll need something to look forward to, even if it's only the countdown 'til I pull out of the driveway and head for the gathering.

fishing user avatarroadwarrior reply :

Coming up shortly...Promise!

fishing user avatarBig Jon reply :

I might actually be able to swing the trip this year if my house sells. I hope I can. This would be the first of many I hope.

fishing user avatarLong Mike reply :

Teaser?  You want a teaser?  OK, here are three.  There will be a Road Trip.  It will be held on a lake that might be one of the TVA chain of lakes.  It will probably take place in April, May, or June.  How's that for teasers? :eyebrows:

fishing user avatar00 mod reply :

Fish will be caught. Lies will be told. Money will be raised for a good charity. How is that for a teaser?   :woman:

Well that's sketchy, as is the author.

fishing user avatarroadwarrior reply :

Well, I can assure you we will all need to bring our rain suits.

fishing user avatar.ghoti. reply :

Here's a hint. We'll have a Saturday Night Wine & Cheese Soiree, but it probably won't be on Saturday night.

Rain suit?  C'mon man, it's "foul weather gear".  Rain suit sounds so...................so..............dainty.

Nothing you said was heard after we seen the picture of Jessica Rabbit. Matter of fact I don't think I'm evening typing this lol.

As long as its not between Jan 17-29 I may be interested.

fishing user avatarMike L reply :

Ever since I signed on here, and read about it, I wished I was able to go to one.

Well since I'm retiring in 8 months and 1 day I'll finally be able too!!

Looking forward to it.

Mike

fishing user avatarCRANKSTER reply :

Hoping to make this one.  Been trying for years.

fishing user avatarjessejames556 reply :

I'm fairly new around here but I'm definitely planning on going. Looking forward to finding out where it will be.

fishing user avatarKyakR reply :

I'm new here too but I'm going! I cant cast through the ice up here. Rain? Tennessee?

fishing user avatarKyakR reply :

Ky Lake?

fishing user avatarroadwarrior reply :

We have had 2 at Lake Fork, 2 on Kentucky Lake, 2 at Pickwick and 2 on Guntersville.

Dates have been switched around for just about every trip, but the timing will probably

be late April to early May. We have had some great fishing on these trips, but it's going

to rain that time of year. Last year, as a group, we averaged 25-50 fish per day, per person.

Last year was an awesome trip.   My thumbs took several weeks to heal up.

I think I hold the Drum Trophy now also.  I hope I can surrender that to someone else on the next trip.  I'm hoping to one of the mods.  :)

fishing user avatarbassin is addicting reply :

last year was awesome...

every day fishing with someone different....and fishing a different way..

jigs one day.. 1st fish on a jig...25-30 that day...thanks Needham.. and that led to Mike making jigs that night using the light of a cell phone in his truck....talk about customer service...  :)

frogs the next day... 4lb'ers...need I say more?

then shakey head.... 1/2 oz shakey head in 25ft of water with current... that was awesome Gene..

that trip sure did spoil me....

fishing user avatargallowaypt reply :

Do you need your own boat to attend?

Nope.  We always have enough boaters with empty seats who are more than willing to share.

No sir.  It is almost split 50/50 boaters to non boaters.  Everyone gets to fish on a boat, no one is left behind!

Jeff

fishing user avatarLong Mike reply :

Just a note.  ALL members are welcome to attend; newbies and old timers; experienced or not.

fishing user avatargallowaypt reply :

Awesome, thanks guys. I should've known with y'all's generosity sharing information, y'all would have no problem sharing a seat!

fishing user avatarFishinDaddy reply :

Last year was awesome...

The day I fished with Keri we caught 5 different species on the same sandbar on the same crankbait in about 20 casts.  Large, small, spotted, drum and a huge blue gill.

fishing user avatarBoomer_bassin reply :

Gonna do my best to have a boat in time for the trip next year (my first).. So I'll have a seat for someone!

fishing user avatarMr_Scrogg reply :

I think a Table Rock Road Trip might need to be in order. ;)

fishing user avatarroadwarrior reply :

Might be a little too expensive for our group:  http://www.bigcedar.com/default.aspx

fishing user avatarBuckMaxx reply :

I have a connection at Indian point Resort that would LOVE to house us...if it is at TR I am all in... I would say April for the fat sallies sitting on Beds.

fishing user avatartate reply :

I'm hoping to make it this year and plan on bringing my boat.  Made a deal with the wife that she will head to Fla to visit a friend that week.

fishing user avatarinrll reply :

Bull Shoals?

fishing user avatarClint C. reply :

This would be my first year attending! Can't wait.

You're crazy. LOL

Your location puts you in the state with arguably the best fishery in the country, KY/Barkley Lakes. I'd be pulling for that one if it were that close.

haha yeah I know but if there were already 2 get togethers there I didn't think people would want to go again. Just figured it was centrally located. If I could pick anywhere though it would be St Clair. Hands down the best bass fishing trip I've ever taken was there.

No, why would anybody want to go to arguably the best fishery in the United States more than once?

fishing user avatarinrll reply :

Good point! Y'all come on out to Kentucky! :Home1:

fishing user avatarBig Jon reply :

I've only traveled through Kentucky. I wouldn't mind a trip to visit (and fish).

fishing user avatarbighed reply :

Bull Shoals would be cool!

fishing user avatarBrian Needham reply :

where is the the Road trip Video? anyone got a link or teaser on that?

how I missed this thread I don't know, but yes last year was awesome.

Not going to happen.  It is to hard for them yankees to catch Florida Strain LM.

Plus it's not centrally located.

Apparently "southern hospitality" doesn't apply to the bass y'all.

fishing user avatarLong Mike reply :

OK, for all you armchair quarterbacks, the following are the criteria we are looking for when we are looking for a site for the Road Trip.

1.  It must be geographically accessible for the majority of our members.  If you don't know where the majority of our members are located, take a look at the Members Map.

2.  It must have hotel/motel accommodations for couples or singles.  Couples or singles cannot afford to rent a cabin for themselves alone

3.  It must have cabins for groups on a budget who want to share accommodations.

4.  It must have internet access.

5.  It must have a central meeting and banquette location, out of the weather,  that can accommodate all of the attendees.  Figure 25 to 50 attendees.

6.  It must have electrical hook-ups for the boats.

7.  It must have locations nearby that can accommodate RV'ers and tenters.

All of the above are MUST's.  If any of you members have a location in mind that meets ALL of the above criteria, I would very much like to hear from you via PM.  No need to clutter this forum with further speculation.

fishing user avatarBluebasser86 reply :

Bring it to Table Rock, Lake of the Ozarks, Grand Lake, Eufala, Texoma, Bull Shoals, Beaver, any of those centrally located lakes and I'll be there!

fishing user avatarBoomer_bassin reply :

Eufala would be cool...it would take me back home for a bit :)

fishing user avatardreamertino reply :

Im going to try with everything I have to make it

fishing user avatarBrian Needham reply :

can anybody provide info on the '14 trip? Glenn, mods, coordinators?

must admit, I am a planner and a dreamer so I  like to look forward to it.

I remember when I decided to go on last years trip, my first.

I watched ALL the old roadtrip videos several times and read the old roadtrip threads..... I was so pumped to go and was really glad I did!

Cant wait for the announcement and to see how the video turned out!!! See yall there!!!!

fishing user avatarbassin is addicting reply :

c'mon Needham....tell the truth...you just want to know when it is so you can count down the days when we room together again..  lol...

last year's trip was awesome!!  can't wait for next years'

fishing user avatarbasshole8190 reply :

Eufala would be a blast or my homelake westpoint highland marina has all the needed ammenities.

fishing user avatarFishinDaddy reply :

Highland is nice.  Nicole and I had our honeymoon there and we have been back several times.

fishing user avatarMike L reply :

I really don't care...

By that time I should be retired and living full time in a motor coach...That's the idea!!! :respect-059:  :respect-059:

Mike

fishing user avatarLoop_Dad reply :

I had no idea what the road trip was, I thought it was some sort of trade show :)  Never been to that part of the country. This might be perfect way to use my airline mileage (I had a tread about that). How much of advanced notice do you usually give?

fishing user avatar00 mod reply :

The announcement will be made with plenty of time for travel arrangements(before the end of the year).  Hope to see you there!

Jeff

fishing user avatarLoop_Dad reply :

Thanks, Jeff. I hope I ended up going there!

BTW: The Member Map section is not working, at least for me. I didn't see myself, so I tried the Add Your Location button, but I got an error message saying something about google location problem. I tried entering my city, nearest major city, full street address...all go the same error.

fishing user avatar00 mod reply :

I will get that addressed. Thanks.

Jeff

fishing user avatarFishinDaddy reply :

Come on guys, at least give us some dates.  My schedule is booked through Feb now and I need to know what week to block out before I sign anymore contracts.

fishing user avatarFishing Rhino reply :

The troops are getting restless.

X2, our schedules are set at work a year at a time. I'm quickly running out of time to be able to request time off without having to find people to work for me.
