Saw this at BPS tonight, and it looks sweet. Anyone have any info on if they are worth it.
not too many of us northern anglers have tried em yet but I also picked up a couple of em. Now I want to try the live target cranks.
awesome frog, great action and the hooks are sharp. it is a pretty durable bait also.
I still have one problem with this frog. There is no option when it comes to the color of the belly of the bait. That's the part of the lure that the bass see. Why wouldn't they have different belly colors? Untill they come out with something other than white I will concider that these lures are painted to catch fishermen not bass.

This subject came up another site *cough* that I visit. I said the same thing re: the painting, as opposed to the spro frog. I saw these at the Fred Hall show, and while they look tempting, I couldn't justify the 12.00 price tag, compared to other frogs.
They sure look good from the topside though. I bought one of their frogs over the winter and was amazed at the detail, but then I thought to myself "how much of that nice detail can the fish even see"? When they fill a little with water and sag into the water I suppose the fish see some.
I also picked up one of those cranks. That also looks incredibly good. Looks good to us(fishermen). We'll see if they will catch fish.
Right now I don't think they'll work very well on the ice. ;D
I checked out the frogs at Cabelas as one of the salesmen recommended it as well as the cranks and the lipless crawdad trap. I didn't get the frog but did get a couple of the cranks in the gloss paint job after reading up on them on tackle tour. Seems they had more success with the matt finish in clearer water and the gloss finish in stained water. Most places I fish are stained so trying the gloss cranks when I can get out.
In clear water a white belly might be just the ticket. I have thrown them some this year but it's not quite time. The sit well in the water kind of like the Boze Sumo.
Im not too worried about a white Belly. Ive caught more fish on my albino Spro frog than any of the other colors. i kinda want to try the koppers, but i will wait until some of my frogs i have now get beaten up too bad.
They sit well in the water, and hook up nicely as well.Soft, and come's to life when adding Daulberg legg's.
Most live frogs have a white or just off-white belly. And the bass, unless coming from 90 degrees directly under, will be getting a partial profile view of the bait, so the detailing on the sides helps to a degree. I have one in yellow, can't wait to find one in the bullfrog pattern.
Belly color for frogs is definitely an issue. You have to think "Fish Eye View" instead of human perspective.
If that fish is looking up from underneath a pad bed and you're pulling a white-bellied frog through on an overcast day, it is very difficult for them to target the bait cause the belly matches the clouds.
On days like this it's better to have a darker color black, brown etc belly where they can easily see a silhouette of the frog against the white clouds.
anybody ever thought of puting spike-it or jjs on the belly to change the color
I believe most Bass are not under the bait but on the side and then come in for the attack..so the side body colors will be seen...most frogs have a white to creme colored belly...and the movement will also attract them...
I use all black spooks at night and they see it and hear it....

It's pretty easy to add color, or texture, to a frog with a Sharpie. I usually replicate the lines that the RI Bullfrog Swamp Donkey had on it's belly.

9.99 at ***. Just bought one, along with a few other things.
Now if the ice up here would just go away.......................................
$9.99 at ****'s Sporting Goods too. Same price as Spro Bronzeyes. Can't wait to side by side test the two out. I'm nearly in the same boat as Lou... Too cold to fish still, especially with frogs.

I see the profanity filter has starred out the name of the store I shop at. LOL.
The store name would be the nickname for 'Richard's'...
They prefom like no other frog the way it move's in the water.Shape size, and acttion is nice to.I like it because of it's look's,and being soft.Have fun with your frog's,I am.
I just got mine and took it out of the package to check it out. The body is very pliable compared to the Spro's I have. Speaking of which, have any of you guys that use Spro's noticed some inconsistency in the softness or lack of in the bodies? I have a couple that are harder than others. Just wondering
I like the action of these frogs better than that of a spro frog. Every live bullfrog I've ever noticed had a white belly.

Some of the best topwater fishing is done in low light. Like when the sky is overcast. But a white bellied frog can't be seen with the backdrop of a white sky. This is why you need different colors.
Have two and like them, I would have to rank it right up there with the Spro. The detail is amazing and if that instills confidence in you great, but I think its there to catch fisherman more than fish.
I bought one to try out. The hooks were horrible on it. Thankfully I got refunded, but it left a sour taste in my mouth. The detail on the body was just amazing, but I don't see that getting you any extra bites.

I had that problem with a senko once, but it was salty, not sour. I dont think we are supposed to eat the lures.
I purchased a koppers frog a few days ago. Looking forward to trying it out.

What exactly was wrong with the hooks? Was it a defect particular to that lure itself? My frog has some great looking wickedly sharp hooks.
The frog bite is on here. I have been using Koppers to check them out. I have used them on bright & cloudy days with good results. I do not think the white bottom mattered. What gracefuldad had to say made a lot of sense. Once I had the fish hooked it stayed buttoned up. I did set the hook to early more than once.

I couldn't tell you whether or not it was fluke manufacturing defect, but the hooks that came on mine were dull and flexed very easily. Not exactly what you want in a hook. If I run across them on sale somewhere, I may give them a second try, otherwise I'll stick with the frogs that I've used previously and haven't had problems with. You can't deny that the paint job on those frogs is great. Unfortunately, it doesn't get seen by the fish.
Maybe you got a bad one? My two have hooks that are thicker and sturdier than either of my Spro Frog hooks. I don't know if they are gammy hooks or what, but mine aren't dull either.
The paint job is gorgeous, and while a bass will not see the top, it will definitely see the sides depending on the angle. The detail on the sides, the prominent eyes, the ear drum and the legs, I think, will only help you get strikes. I haven't gotten anywhere close to topwater temperatures yet, but I can't wait to put this up against my Spros and see who comes out on top.

Same here.
One of the hooks on my Koppers Green/Yellow is not sharp at all. I can run my index finger over it and the hook wont grab at all. The hook on the other side is a bit better but not great. The hooks on the Brown/Black frog are noticeably sharper but still not as sharp (not far behind) as the hooks on my used SPRO frog. The SPRO frog hooks will grab my skin with a light touch to them, with the Koppers it takes just a slight bit more pressure. I would say the hooks on my Scumfrogs are sharper than the Koppers as well.
