fishing user avatarflbassmaster reply :

Hey everyone,

I am looking for a pair of pants for fishing that are breathable and comfortable. I live in Florida and that is a must due to the hot weather. If anyone has any good suggestions please drop them below. thanks!

Wrangler Outdoor trousers are great for fishing

Locally - it's a bit cooler climate and HUK Trawler pants are the deal.

I wear quick dry cargo pants in the cooler weather, the colder it is the thicker the layer underneath. I wear cargo shorts in the warmer weather.  I like having the cargo pockets.

nice!

fishing user avatarTBAG reply :

For summer I usually wear the Columbia PFG zip off pants.

fishing user avatarHawkeye21 reply :

I've got a variety of fishing pants and while most are comfortable there is certainly a difference between them.  I have some Columbia ones and I find them to be a little restrictive in the crotch area.  I especially notice it because I fish from a kayak and am sitting a lot.

My most comfortable pair of pants also happens to be the least expensive I own.  The brand is White Sierra and I found them on sale on Amazon for $11.  I ended up buying a second pair for a few dollars more later.

fishing user avatarDwight Hottle reply :

These work great for hot climates. SPF 50. I like to call them PB pants.

fishing user avatartxchaser reply :

This summer I fished all day in Texas heat lots of times, and so I was very serious about finding more good pants for it.

My favorite pair are Mountain Hardwear that aren't made anymore.

The columbia blood and guts are pretty good.

The simms lightweight are not good for real heat. Maybe colorado mountain summer, but muggy and hot in Texas sun, no way.

My advice is load up a range of them from amazon and try them all on as they fit differently, and see which ones are actually light enough to give you some airflow. Same deal on shirts too - not all fishing shirts are made the same, and only certain models of the typical brands really have good airflow and/or cooling dots.

You didn't ask, but the undies make a big difference too. Ex Officio won hands down.

fishing user avatarNHBull reply :

Columbia blood n guts.

Simms tropical weight

Mountain Khaki lighweight

fishing user avatarKdizzle reply :

Levi's slim fit boot cut jeans of course

fishing user avatarMN Fisher reply :

Wrangler cargo pants in a light color...I use ALL the pockets.

fishing user avatarwalleyecrazy reply :

I generally wear a pair of Columbia convertible pants that I have. They are actually meant for hiking but they are very similar to the PFG stuff. They are very light and breathable, and work perfect for fishing out of my kayak so I don't get sunburn on my legs.

fishing user avatarAlex from GA reply :

Wrangler cargo pants in the boat.  Columbia or knockoffs zip off pants in the kayak.

fishing user avatarFordsnFishin reply :

Pants? Why wear em

Just wear your favorite pair of skibbys. You'll breath easier, flip further, and just down right catch more fish.

Or, be arrested and sent to jail.

fishing user avatarFishes in trees reply :

Not a fan of long pants, unless I got to wear them because of a rain suit or something like that while fishing.   Summer time, I wear shorts, generally shorts with many pockets.  Should I be fishing and need to be a little warmer I prefer long underwear underneath the shorts.   I'm a big fan of long underwear & shorts.  If I didn't need the pockets I wouldn't wear the shorts.

fishing user avatarTizi reply :

I wear Kuhl and REI convertible pants.

I bought a pair of these this summer at Walmart believe it or not, and they are great! They are super comfortable and breathable. They are very light weight without being too thin - it still feels like I'm wearing pants, unlike my other pairs of hiking pants which are paper thin nylon which isn't very comfortable at all.

I wear my pair literally every time I take my kayak out fishing to protect my legs from the sun. As an added bonus, my wife says I look good in them! ????????

They are pretty cheap too at around 20-25 bucks. The one downside about them is that the sizings don't fir everyone the same. They tend to run long, and when I was trying them on in the store, I could tell that 2 pairs of the exact same size fit slightly different around the waist, so there may be consistency issues.

Totally worth a look though, I want another pair or two for myself.

Brett Favre and Dale Jr approve this message :)

I just bought a pair of Columbia PFG's to try out, but I may give these Wranglers a look. I usually just wear a pair of jeans but it really sucks getting them wet, especially when it's cold. LOL

Are these pants thin enough to wear in the heat of summer to protect from the sun?

fishing user avatarRichF reply :

These are discontinued so get them before they're all gone.  These are the nicest pair of fishing pants I've  ever worn.

Depends on how hot you get in the sun I guess, I prefer a pair of pants to protect me from the sun over shorts almost always. But to answer your question I think most people would say yes, as they are still light weight, moisture wicky type material, just a little bit more to them than the really really thin ones.

I also like the Columbia blood and guts pants, specifically the ones that do not zip off.  They are more if a slim fit if that matters at all to you.

Every time I see the title of this thread all I can think of is the "Monty Capuletti, regular guy look" pants.

As far as fishing I wear old, comfortable jeans. I might get lighter material cargo pants for this year though.

fishing user avatarLargeMarge reply :

I really like the Marmot Arch Rock pants. Nice and thin but also pretty durable.
