Hello, has anybody here bought any lures from Ali-Express? And if you have how are they?
[If you don't know what AliExpress is:] Aliexpress is basically a company in China that sells everything, they sell a ton of fishing lures and equipment at very low prices.

Part of a review of AliExpress https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/safe-shop-aliexpress/
"Unlike Amazon, all of the sellers on AliExpress are a third party: AliExpress itself does not sell anything. They just provide the marketplace."
"The second possibility for an item being extremely cheap is that its either counterfeit or fraudulent (or semi-fraudulent, as in the case of the GooPhone I5). China is known as a hotbed of counterfeit production, and AliExpress is no exception."
I'd rather buy from TW, TD, FishUSA, or Amazon and pay a bit more and insure what I'm getting is the real thing rather than a 'mislabled' knockoff.
Never bought from them, but funny thing...I was looking at them just last night for the first time...I had an image in my head of a certain soft bait that I'd never seen. After googling for a while, I came across these on Ali and then couldn't find anything remotely similar from US mfrs or retailers.
So, I guess, @MN Fisher, there may be reasons to shop there beyond buying cheaper knockoffs.
But I'd prefer to buy American if anyone knows of a source.
Aliexpress is a reasonable and safe site so long as you use some common sense. Don't by name brand stuff for pennies on the dollar and have realistic expectations about what you are going to get for your money. There is some the amazing fishing stuff available on there, the Kuying Teton line of of UL/SUL rod are insanity good for the money and Aliexpress is the cheapest place to buy the various DIY/Ray's Studio spools and other reel parts.
I buy lure making supplies from them and have never have any issues.
I bought a reel, took some time to get. But it was the real deal.

If that's what you're looking for then check out the Kalins Sizmic Toad, available on TW.
Thanks, @Vilas15. I've heard of them, but never seen one. I always assumed they were a topwater toad. I'll look into them.

Product description says they are, but with a slow sink if you pause it. I only know them from seeing Joe Bucher use it as a swim jig trailer on TV. If it does what you want then it really doesn't matter. Adding a second paddle tail on a swimbait doesn't make a topwater in my eyes ????

I wanna say that there is a panfish plastic sold in the US with that profile. What is the size on those?

I get that. I don't care what its called, or what it is marketed to do. But, I am not certain that a 4.5 inch bulky plastic is what I was envisioning. It may work, though. I'm picturing maybe 3 inches long on a darter head or weighted hook....maybe a shakey head. (Admittedly, also thinking it would be killer for walleyes, too.)
Buy Merican' ????????

I only buy my japanese-branded korean-made reels and chinese-made crankbaits on auction sites headquartered in the US ????
I have purchased various fishing items from Aliexpress. Other than the wait time I got everything I purchased and it was as advertised.
I used to like purchasing Kastking goods from them that are not available in the states yet.
I’ve bought some unique Crappie jig heads, a TSURINOYA XF-50 Baitcasting Reel, some Meredith Larva lures, and a KUYING Teton L 1.98m 6'6'' Baitcasting rod. Takes a while to get the stuff but it all came through as described....and very inexpensive for the quality. Also bought some mini. Crankbaits

If you guys know of a panfish bait smaller in profile, I would appreciate it. I saw that the Kalins on TW were 3”.
Look up Kalins Crappie Scrubs. That may not be the exact name since I'm going from memory but I believe that's it. It has a similar profile as the picture.
Not sure about buying them online, i got mine from the local Farm and Fleet.
Edit: read the post a little better. The picture does look like a Kalins Crappie Scrub but I dont recall seeing 3" or large enough to fish on a shakey head etc. Then again I've never really looked either.

Now, we're talking. Kalins Scrubs. 3" long and almost same look as the Ali tails above.
They look outstanding. Thanks, all.
It depends on what you buy. Bootleg stuff is not usually as good as the real thing. But there’s a lot of good discount items there. I like the copper T-Rig weights and DIY finesse spools. The carbon fiber reel handles are one of the Best Buy’s on earth. It’s totally hit or miss, though, but can be addictive because it’s only $2.31 for this and $1.74 for that. All I’m going to say is, they don’t make everything in China because China doesn’t know how to make things.
I've been buying Crankbaits for years. I found some incredible baits too. A few clunkers, but at $1.50 ea or less it's no problem. These I have pictured are all amazing from .65ea to $1.75ea. All of them are incredible fish catchers.
Some sellers give you a good discount if you buy more than 2 or 3 too. Only thing is you have to allow about 4-6 weeks for delivery. I've also had great luck getting tungsten Neko and bullet weights.
Also the Kuying Teton 6'6" rod for $60.00 is probably the best light/ultra light rod you can get.Fetching info...
I have two!
Is there a helpful resource in identifying what spool size/model a reel takes? I have a Daiwa Tatula 100h that I bought in 2015. Was looking to see if there was a cheap extra spool on AliExpress.
Been eying the Kuying Tornado (round reel) from Ali for well over a year now, anyone try it?
I've bought metal spoons, square bill cranks, jig skirts, and a reel from Ali and have been very happy with the quality of the lures but not the reel. Piscifun Phanthom reel had problems so they refunded my money and let me keep the reel.

Check out the Creme Frisky Frogs, they're 1.5".

just don’t expect to throw finesse with it, unless you upgrade the spool bearings.
I have about 70 orders I have placed and have gotten every one of them. Takes a lot of time for shipping - sometimes up to 2 months but the orders always come. I usually buy unique looking stuff there and super cheap whopper ploppers I give away
I see alot of knockoff dark sleepers, ploppers there but if you are looking for small baits (like for panfish) I have never their selection can't be beat.
As for unique items I like their swim jigs (the hook is on a split ring) like this one:
Some new topwater wake bait?

Looks like a Mikey copy. $18 bait that looks great swimming, makes an interesting noise. Never caught anything on it though.

Z-Man makes something like that. It is in the latest BP catalog.
