I just would like to know what you all think is the best Buzz Bait and why? :-/
I really like the booyah buzz bait with the clicker. I like how loud it is and how well it cast for a buzz bait. This buzz bait is so loud me and my buddy cant even talk when iam working these buzz baits. They seem to wrok real well slow or fast. Its also very easy to get it on top after a cast.
who has the best buzzbait? I most likely have the best buzzbait There is not really a best of buzzbait , just one that works for you.
Megabass!
I do and you aint getting it 8-)
Properly tuned lunker lures can't be beat.
Hands down, and not even close IMHO, it's the Cavitron 1/4 oz.
They are disigned to plane out quickly, and they can be reeled extremely slowly.
Also have holes in the blads to make a bubble trail.
Only knock on them is they tend t ride over to one side, so you have to tinker with the adjustment a bit.
The Cavitron is a fish catching fool. I have caught a lot of nice bass on this bait, both green and brown. I would have to say the white 1/4oz has done the best for me.
I have been using calvatron but I have just purchased a few booyahs and am looking forward to trying them. I to was drawn to them because of the clacker on them I think noise is important for buzzbaits.
Cavitron....hands down the best buzzbait I have ever used
I was really diggin the Strike King Double Take Buzzbait with 2 blades last year. Can reel it very slow and keep it on top. I just bought a few Booyah buzzbaits with the clacker to try out this year. Hope they do well.
Jason
I like the cavitrons as well but my best producer is one off the rack at dicks for like $1.50 I think its a strike king and I caught more fish on it last year than any other lure in my box. Most of the paint is chipped off, the barb on the hook is gone and half the strands on the skirt have been torn off but it still catches fish. Its a single blade with a black skirt and i think the blade is tin, it seems to make a certain sound the bass around me cant resist. I go through a lot of cheap buzzbaits throwing them under tree limbs and into tight spots and every once in a while I get one that produces like that.
This is going to sound ridiculous because well............it is.
But I can't seem to own a cavitron.
I have bought one on three separate occasions and each time the bait never came home with me.
It's like one of those famous fishing jinx's.
I had one break off on a cast, one in bass' jaw, and one in some thick cover. I don't fish them any different than I do a booyah but the cavitron is one of "avids famous disappearing lures"
Wierd ain't it?
the one that broke off on the cast was really cool. It was a half once white and man it sailed!!!
It was like the propeller was motor driven. It was really cool watching it fly half way down the lake. Untill I saw it land in the water.
they sink :-/
LOL Avid. You didn't pi** off a gypsy sometime during your life did you? She might have put the evil " You will never own a Cavitron " eye on you.
i love booyah buzzbaits because of the extra noise. I purchased buzzbaits from BPS in the cheap looking packages that come like 5 on one cardboard back thing and they have a curved wire to the blade, i can't remember what they are called but i've caught three 8 lbs.+ bass on them.
I really like the bps brand buzzbaits, its design keeps the line from tangling around the buzzbait, they have really sharp good hooks and they seem to catch me bass so thats my vote
I know they are cheep, but I always seem to catch more fish on strike king ones. I also like War eagles.
I bought some cheep strike king ones on slae at Dicks a few year back. I think I paid $.50 for each, bought about 20 and gave away most of them to the guys I go fishing with in Canada. They all loved them. I still have few left and they catch fish.
I am a big fan of double bladed buzz biats. I had some that a guy made custon for me, but those are all gone now. I do like the strike king double take, and the Skeet duble buzz.
The worst buzz bait I have ever used is the leverage brand. never, never again
The more I fish the more I find that the mass-produced baits are rarely the "best" because there is always some guy in a garage that spends his time thinking of ways to fix the problems or irritations that the mass-produced baits cause each of us. Maybe they sink too quick, a sharper hook would be nice, they squeek too much, they don't squeek enough, they don't track right, etc....
I've dug through as many of the "little guys" as I can stand and the best buzzbaits I've found come from D&M baits. These guys make their baits with super-sharp owner hooks, single blades, double blades, with or without clackers, a ridiculous number of color, size, and weight variations. My personal favorite is the longest version of the Double blade/double clacker in the 1/2 oz size. That bait is a solid 7" long! You wouldn't believe the fish that will come out of the wood work to smack a BIG buzzbait!

That is the link to their ebay store.
Matt
War Eagles are the best Buzzbait I have used. They come with a Gamakatsu hook, the wire is ground under the blade to give it good noise, it casts well, stays on top, leaves a nice bubble trail, and best of all it catches tons of fish.
That being said, I also like Persuaders and Reaction Inovations.
Booyah and terminator
Here an off the wall Buzzbait...It cost a little cash to make. This one for you bait tinkers...
Daiwa TD Buzzmax
Vision Honey Buzz
Calvtron Buzzbait
I combine all 3 features of these Buzzbaits.
Bend the wire back and take the blade off the Daiwa TD Buzzmax. Put the Calvtron blade on Daiwa TD Buzzmax and the rivet of the Vision Honey Buzz on Daiwa TD Buzzmax. Bend Wire back. You will have one sweet Tweek up Daiwa TD Buzzbait...
Joe
OL Nelle regular and broke-back(split-ring) buzzers are only one's I will use. The wire on the booyahs, war eagles are way to thick and the angle from the back of the buzzer to hook tip is too wide and allows them to get hung-up more.Might have something to do with where i use them though. I also like the way they run straight instead of at an angle. Not only do i like the added vibration of a lighter wire, but it has more give when fighting a fish as long as you are not really pulling on them you will not lose a fish or break the bait.
I don't know if it's the best, but I've caught my share of nice sized bass on a Strike King white bleeding bait series. Also use Chartreuse and black.
I like the Buckeye DH2 and their Single and Double Bladed buzzbaits. The DH2 is one of the best throwing buzzbaits and can retrieved very slow. The 2 blades on the sided keep it up at the slowest speeds.
http://www.buckeyelures.com/dh2_buzz_bait.shtml
booyah with a clacker.the quality is unsurpassed and they catch fish.
That's a Honeybuzz Buzzbait designed and made by Vision Lures. Note how they have a hinged hook. Makes for more sure hookups. They also come with an already rusty rivet for great squeaking noise.
They will put a big grin on your face!
Dan
Nobody has mentioned the original Lunker Lure buzzer. I like their jigs too. Their buzzers get better with age. My 2 cents.
The only one I can get to work is a Lunker lure one in white that I found about 3 years ago. I have a SK, Glamour shad and a couple others but the only one that seems to work is a white Lunker lure one that squeaks so bad it hurts my ears!
Allen
Hands down the the persuader double buzz baits..This is if you are after big fish
My cavitron swims at a 45. Any tips on how to tune it?
i like the booyah
I've tried quite a few. War Eagle, Cavitron, Booyah, and some others.
I do like the Booyah clacker.
However, the Cavitrons are hands down the best. Amazing.
Bravo. 10 year old thread, back to life like Lazarus. FWIW, cavitron or bust.
Cavitron or Crock-O-Gator

my advise is to buy another brand. my cavitrons all run severly off course and i dont find them to come up on plane or run slower than the competitive brands.
they are way overhyped on this site like some of the other sponsored products.

There is a sad update to my post from a decade ago. My favorite Lunker Lure buzzbait fell victim to a savage Tiger Musky attack and was destroyed.

Tuning buzzbaits is a skill I've yet acquired . I just straighten the wires out the best I can and take advantage of the direction they run . Cavitrons have thin wire and have to constantly be bent back into shape . Bump them into everything . On a good buzzbait bite I like to have a left and right runner tied on .
Out of the Buzz baits i use. i like the 3 bladed Booyah. the wire is strong for the tuff stuff that you get into. also i like the three blade due to the fact you can really slow it down. if you are a burner then i would go with the 1/2 oz double blade white on sunny days and black on dark days. i will do more burning on sunny days that on cloudy days. i have wanted to use the strike king swivel head series but i just cant seem to just pull the trigger and get one. i look at it and tell my self do it but i just cant.
i hope this helps and gives you insight.
I don't know about best, but the Strike King catches more fish for me than any other I've tried, and I've tried a bunch, including all the ones mentioned above.
Crock o gator for me.
I've used a lot of buzz baits budda snooze alarm, booyah buzz bait, strike king swinging sugar buzz, revenge baits buzz bait, Picasso Dinner bell buzz bait, war eagle, single blade, double blade, clacker, non clacker.
The only one that's still in the tackle box and not hanging on the wall in the man/fishing cave as decoration is the Cavitron. I've black, white, white/Chartreuse all in the different blade color combos (black, red, gold)

The bps later eye 1/4 oz has a different sound and has accounted for a many a bass in my weigh in bag.... they're not too noisy and not too subtle... they're just right... and reasonably priced
I use some that a local guy here on Table rock makes . If I have use a store bought it's war eagle or crock o gator.
Calvtron Buzzbait in black..

Do you get them to swim upright?
Prefer to use SK. Just catch more fish with this book zzz bait than others ans very durable as well

Ha! I didn't even notice the dates. Haven't been here in about a week, and as I was looking through the first page I kept thinking, Hmmm... lots of new posters and people I don't recognize, did they all pop up this week?
Anyway... one more vote for the Cavitron. It's really the only buzzbait I fish anymore.
Same-o, same-o...Cavitron for me, black on black.
I like the Pepers Custom Baits Commando buzz bait
So I just started using buzzbait and still wondering which one is better? Sooo many to choose from and when would you wanna use a clacker or one with holes or no holes etc? And best weight for use?
https://www.facebook.com/MegaChompLureCo/
I've been using lures from these guys lately. A lot of color choices, and I'm happy with them so far.
I found a Castaic Duckett buzzbait early in the year and it brought me some real quality hogs.
always swam straight and i will be picking up more.
also on ebay theres a seller named hunter creek that makes a very nice buzz bait that will ship it to your door for under $5. caught plenty of big bass including a 5lber a few days ago.
For all of you guys that are stating that the cavitron tracks off to the side or swims on a 45-HERE IS THE ISSUE -you are fishing it too fast-just slow it down PERIOD THE END-
I think I've just about tried them all and have come to the conclusion that there's no reason for me to own any buzzbait that isn't a Cavitron.
Just go fishing and enjoy . It's the most exciting way I find to catch bass. Fall is coming and it's turning on go play my friends
I use the Cavitron and the booyah myself. I have however had a couple of the booyahs skirts fall off after a fish or two. That has never happened on the Cavitron.

Cavitrons are my my favorite followed by Booyahs.
....however, I've stopped using buzzbaits and use Whopper Ploppers now in size 90 and 110, almost always 110.
If there are any weeds I use the weedless Whopper Plopper, the Teckel Sprinker Frog.
Does field and stream carry the mega strikes ?
I just can't get a cavitron to run straight. If I reel any slower it goes under. I only have two of them and they both run off to the left right out of the package.
A bait that runs left or right still catches fish . I like to have two rigged up that run both ways . The Original Lunker Lure runs a different direction than most other baits . Keep a Lunker Lure and Cavitron rigged and bump those stump.
For you buzzbait fans try the Eco Pro Tungsten http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Eco_Pro_Tungsten_War_Cry_Buzzbaits/descpage-EPWC.html

Most anglers fish buzzbaits way to fast ?

Agreed. I fish near locks that have long walls that jut out into the river. Sometimes I will bend the wire to deliberately run left of right so they will bang up against the wall all the way down.
These are most of my buzzers . I have more scattered around . No reason to have this many when I find a good one then use it until its wore out .
As others have said, my favorite is the cavitron. Don't have to burn it to keep it on top.

Weird. Between my friends and I we've bought a ton of Cavitrons and never had any issues.
If you contact the guy who sells them he'll probably help you out. He was really helpful to me when I had a problem.
Also, try a Whopper Plopper and stop using buzzbaits all together.
Nearly all single blade buzzbaits run off to one side/direction or the other to varying degrees. It is the physics behind rotating blades and the torque produced. Weight of the bait, size of the blade, amount of drag from skirt and trailers, speed of retrieve and other things all play a part, as does any "tuning" you do to try and counteract this. There is nothing wrong with them.
Booyah Buzz 3/8 Oz. in White/Chartreuse Shad and Strike King Swinging Sugar 3/8 Oz. in Super Chartreuse...
Find the one that squeaks the loudest, that will the best buzzbait you have.
I've got this old Lunker Lure buzzbait that squeaks like nothing I've ever heard, and that thing is deadly! It's weird because they just don't all squeak the same, and although there are some tricks to making one squeak louder, sometimes you'll find one that's just in a league of it's own. That's when you've really got something.
anyone needing help just call 732-780-7383 -NO ONE BUT NO ONE throws the Cavitron more than I so i have seen every scenario there could possibly be

I see that they have a new Clacker Cavitron. If I was using buzzbaits still I'd definitely get one of those!
They (clacker models) are available exclusively at Tackle Warehouse
