Just curious to what brand hooks everyone out there uses. Thanks.
any name brand should be good.
I have Owner, trokar, Gamakatsu, VMC, Eagle Claw, and daiichi, mustad, and decoy.
I have not ben disappointed by any of them. (the decoy hooks are new to me as they were on sale at TW)

Trokar, Gamakatsu and Owner are my favorites, but anything will do in a pinch or financial bind.
Vmc or Gami. Like the owner misqueto hooks for dropshotting though.
if trokars weren't so expensive that's all i would fish. owners are nice, but again expensive. gamakatsu is a nice medium price, but good quality hook. on a budget, vmc are good for me.
Owner, VMC, trokar, Gamakatsu, Eagle Claw, Mustad.... I'll buy some academy H2O hooks every now and again too.
Mainly Gami's for me.
Mustad 1x2x short, Owner, for trebles.....
Mustad , Owner,& Decoy, some Trokar.
Also not a hook?<But i really like Owners CPS,in different sizes.Buy in bigger packs at TW, much cheaper.
Owner and Gamakatsu ...is there any other brand?
Gamakatsu, except for tubes. Those get the Trokar tube hook.
Hootie
Eagle Claw and Gamu
Gamakatsu for darn near everything...

Gammy
Owner.
I've switched over to Trokars for just about everything. I still use the VMC Spin Shots for drop shotting, but now with the release of the helix drop shot hook I'll probably be switching that over as well.
Owner for twist locks and weighted hooks.
Gammy for all others
Mike
VMC for single hooks. I really like the "bang for the buck" aspect of there "Ike approved" lineup. I switched to these from Gamakatsu, and on top of saving a few $'s I have not had any issues with them. I also really like the spin and power shot dropshot hooks.
Mustad KVD Elite 2x short, 1x strong for trebles. I replace every stock hook on every hard bait with these.
Gammy, Owner, and VMC are my go to's.
Gamakatsu for fresh water, Mustad for Salt water. Owner and VMC make nice hooks as well.

None that I can remember.
Owner.. Well ok, gammy too..
Gami's and Owner's mostly.
Gamakatsu
Depends on the application. There are different characteristics with each brand and the style of the hook.
Generally for most days I use Gammy and Mustad. But I have tried Trokar, Owner and even BPS's line. None of them have failed me.
Gamakatsu and Owner.
Whatever I can get a decent deal on I have gammys, owners, mustads, Vmc's, trokar's and BPS. All of them are good hooks. By the way does anyone know who makes the BPS hooks?
Tight lines

I was a victim of the bargain Bass Pro hooks. I bought a bunch on sale and have been working through those as quickly as possible.
I'm moving to VMC. Fantastic hooks and better prices. The Ike Approved line is good. I bought some flipping hooks in the Ike and Heavy Duty versions and I wouldn't hesitate to get the extra hook for the same money on the Ike. Their EWG and other standards are fine as well.
Eagle Claw has some flipping hooks that I'd like to try. I think they're about the same deal as with the VMC, maybe cheaper.
For standard wire worm hooks it's Gamakatsu
For Beefier Worm hooks it's Owner & Trokar
Drop shots are VMC & Owner
Trebles are Mustad & Gamakatsu
A-Jay
I use the pointy ones...............Only !
Mostly Gamakatsu.
Also used, Owner, BPS, Daiichi, other brands.
Fav. Gamakatsu.
I use mainly Owner and Gamakatsu trebles. Gotten to where I use the H2O EWGs for all my worm fishing. Plenty sharp and for $5 for a 20 pack it doesn't hurt when I lose one.

Over time I probably use them all. Some of my favorites though...
Mustad KVD Triple grips on my crankbaits, squarebills, rattletraps, and cranks with a lip.
Gamakatsu round bends I use on my topwaters and ripbaits
Owner Mosquito hook for my weightless and wacky baits
Gamakatsu splitshot/dropshot
Gamakatsu heavy cover flippin (glue the bait keeper)
and some Gamakatsu EWG
30 years ago, you had to be very picky about the hooks you selected. And I remember hand honing each and every hook every time I tied one on. These days however, I do not believe there is a significant variation in quality control amongst the major hook manufacturers. If there was, they would not be in business long these days! Competition in the angling community is intense, especially on the tournament circuits.
I am still a fan of the Gamakatsu brand. Have never had them fail me and the sharpness is just fine. Day in and day out, they get the job done. Trokars are suppose to be "really" sharp. If you say so! I've tried them and cannot see the difference myself - especially at twice or three times the cost of a Gammy! I guess I'll stick with my Gammys that have served me so well, over many, many years of hard angling.

Apparently, like lots of different guys here, I fish lots of different brands. On those occasions when I lose a fish, which happens more than I would like, I don't think that it is the fault of whatever hook I happen to be using at the time. I blame it on operator error, if I must have a separate culprit, I blame it on barley pop, which occasionally slows my reaction time..
I only use Owner hooks , My favorite are the cutting point hooks - ST41's (treble hooks) , rig'n hooks (wide gap hooks) . Beast hooks( swimbait hooks) . And the oversize worm hooks for 10"+ worms .
VMC
I'm an Owner fan. I do use gamakatsu, Mustad, and a few others but I'll choose Owner first.
Used Owner and VMC for years but I found Moaner hooks and I have to say they are the best hooks I have used in a long time--only use Matt's hooks now--good heavy sharp flipping hooks and weighted hooks--you might want to check them out--checked Moaner Hooks out and I have not looked back--fast and very fair shipping cost and a great hook--check them out and I think you will be as sold as I am--Disclaimer--I have no association with Moaner Hooks except as a customer
I really like the bass pro hooks $7 for 25 ain't bad, and imo they're good quality.
I was a big gammy fan and then academy came to town. Lol.
Its kind of silly, but day in day out ....I use the H2o brand hooks and for tournements I use Gammy. Its a mental thing and makes no real sense. I have never had the first issue with the academy hooks and can't even one time think of a time I missed a fish and felt it was the hooks faul. Like I said- its a mental confidence thing. Like I'm "stepping up" because its game time- even though Im not sure I could point out a reason the gammy is "better" than the h2o.
For flippin- trokar on game day- vmc everyday. Same deal.
I'm weird.
Gamakatsu form me although all the others are fine.
Gamma
Eagle Claw
Owner
Vmc
I have about 3lbs of hooks. Every hook ever made even have forged hooks.you could say im a hook collector.this tackle store went out of business 5 yrs ago had owners on sale for 50 cents to 75 cents i bought all 70 packs i think i added up the retail price and it was like 800 $ And also some place i cant remeber had VMC barbarian hooks in a kit marked $1.50 i bought all them also about 8 kits .anyone need hooks???
Owner. Their trebles are the best. I like all their hooks, the twistlocks with CPS work great for rigging. Love the bulk pack Mosquito hooks as well... Great deal on DS hooks.
Gamakatsu, VMC, Trokar.
Owner!
When buying a lure, we rarely have a hook choice. But when buying loose hooks,
I only purchase premium brand hooks such as Owner, Gamakatsu and Trokar.
When comparing premium brand hooks, my attention turns to 'point style', which IMO
is more important than zooming in on a specific brand. Given a choice, I'll always opt
for a 'knife-edge' point (triangular point) over a 'needle point' (conical point).
As a conical point penetrates, the pressure increases until penetration reaches the full diameter of the wire,
but that's not the case with a knife-edge point. When a triangular cut-edge point begins to penetrate,
membrane is severed with a cleaving action that generates little or no pressure buildup (like a knife).
