Bored so I figured it was a good time to post this. For anyone who has asked for a bait and I stated I have one but need to find it this is why. My fishing tackle would qualify me for a hoarders episode.

How many years did it take to accumulate all that?
Looking at those pictures gives me anxiety
(Shudders) I don't think I'd ever get to that point
Everything I have - pan-fish and bass - fits in a single Cabela's Advanced Angler's Tackle Bag - 3600 size.
I got that one because it fits 6 boxes in the main compartment and 1 more in the front compartment.
And some of the boxes still have empty spots in them.
This is why when someone asks if I have bait XYZ and I say I need to find it takes 3 months. On the good side my OCD has been cured! I would take pictures of the rest of the stuff but it is too dangerous to walk around my basement right now.

Looks pretty organized to me! ????
Wow, this makes me feel better about my mess.
If I could offer a suggestion, I would suggest you go buy a bunch of big transparent storage containers - usually on sale after xmas. Just rake everything off the top of that desk into a container. Don't worry about sorting stuff or labeling it yet, just get it in containers. You'll feel so much better when you can move around in there.
Thats alot easier to fix than cleaning up a actual hoarders house. Atleast it fishin tackle.
I would love to rummage thru that mess!

Sad part is I have 14 66quart containers full of baits as well.

(faints dead away)
Admitting you have a problem is the first step.

My Left eye started to twitch - uncontrollably

All the dress right dress I learned in the Army has been lost when it comes to fishing tackle.

Neither but my wife says the basement is scary so she rarely goes down there.

Have you thought about selling any of that stuff?
Maybe this could help.
Allen, I invite you to join me in an acquisition freeze. Blasphemy, yes, but hear me out. Starting today, root through one container at a time with the thought that you are going to donate some of your tackle to a rural high school fishing club. A worthwhile process that will put equipment into deserving, less fortunate young hands and take some of your unfished yet valuable tackle off yours.
I donated half a dozen trays of hard baits, a ton of plastics, and a bunch of reels last year. If we can help even one kid steer to the local pond and clear of trouble, it will be worth parting with some old stock—then maybe you will have to replace an item or two!
What about it team? Anyone else care to join Allen and me?

I was thinking Allen needs to find some OCD kid to organize his mess, and pay the kid by giving them a rod, reel and bunch of lures and some fishing lessons. I don't know how you go about finding an OCD kid, but they would do a heck of a job. Maybe call the local school. I had an OCD guy do some work for me, and his work was perfect.
If I lived closer I'd jump at the chance!
I dont have OCD but for fishing tackle I can organize just about anything ????
"We're gonna need a bigger basement."
Would have a blast organizing that. I have to keep my stuff organized since it is in our walk in closet. Maybe when my daughter moves out I will be able to use her room as my tackle/fly tying room.
They have reality shows based on guys like you. ????
It looks like somebody dropped a bait shop in your basement. It's actually quite impressive.

Do you have about two weeks to spare? I have a bunch more stuff in my garage, dining room, as well as two 66quart tubs currently stashed in my daughters club house that my wife hasn't noticed yet.
On a side note is I die for some reason you guys should rush to my house asap. My wife says she is selling all the lures $1 each in a fire sale.

My OCD is in overdrive looking at that, may I suggest a Grainger store or catalog with your journey????

If I only lived closer. I did learn helping my Dad it can get tricky with too many cooks in the kitchen, because there was stuff he didn’t see where we stored it and I got a phone call lol.
I did see a video Ike did and he had the 10 or 18 gallon containers labeled with what was in them, say spinnerbaits, etc and stored the bulk and old stuff that way. Still could be stuff just tossed in, and looked like you had stuff still in the package which this would work great for.
We we have used the shelves from Menards for 20 years, and 3 houses, they stow the 18 gallon totes perfectly. Just need the frames and boards and you are good to go.
