Just picked up two of these jigs at walmart, one in brown and one in black/blue. How do you like these jigs and most importantly do they catch fish??
I like them, especially the Bitsy Flip. I catch plenty of fish on them, big ones too. Are they the best, prettiest, most finely crafted jigs out there? Nope, far from it. But they are cheap, and available every where, and for me, since I don't make my own jigs, they are hard to beat for less than $2. I lose dozens of them a year with no tears shed. When the skirt falls apart.....I throw them away. When the hook gets dull..............I throw them away. That's even if I have them long enough for that to happen. If your not putting a jig where your going to lose it, your not putting it where the bass are. Some one would have a real hard time trying to convince me that a $4 jig, while it might be better built, have a prettier skirt, and paint job on the head, with the best of the best components is going to catch me one single fish more than I catch on the bitsy flips. I am not anti-spending money on jigs either, I have boxes full of more expensive jigs, but 9 time out of 10, when I am faced with a tough bite, and need a small flipping jig, it's a bitsy flip tied on.
I tie my own jigs and have for some time now,but I still use bitsy bugs from time to time. If you bought the regular Bitsy,I throw them on 6-10lb test med light spinning gear. The bitsy flip has a much better hook and you can throw it on whatever you want. I like the Bitsy craw trailer or the tiny Paca craw to tip these bad boys.

Thanks i didnt know what trailer to put on them! cause there pretty small! haha. I got the the regular bitsy bug not the flip i mite pick up the flip tomorrow!
Don't like em one bit. SK jigs are not high quality..... not even close. I bought a bitsy flip once. The head was malformed, the weedguard was not even in front of the hook point, the point was dull, and the skirt had barely any action. Stick with seibert and northstar. The extra quality and performance is worth it in the long run IMHO.

I like Zoom super chunk jr's, or GYCB fat baby craws with the "worm" part of the craw trimmed down to fit the jig.

I have owned HUNDREDS of Bitsy Flips/Bugs over the last 15 years, I can recall two................TWO..........that were junk out of the package, and the only problem with them was the weed guards were not glued in, no big deal, a dab of super glue on them, and they were back in business. Not bad for a $1.75 jig. To the OP, By all means, support the sponsors of this sight, they make great jigs too. Just because CPBassFishing got one bad one, doesn't mean they are junk. I have been using them since he was in diapers. Like I said, they are NOT as nice as a Northstar/etc......but that's not what catches fish. And I sleep a whole better at night knowing that every dock post, stump, laydown, rock pile, and who knows what else I have snagged them on has a collection of sub $2 jigs resting in peace on them than $4 jigs.

So your saying you got one bad jig and they now suck? I've always wondered where the bad reviews on websites come from??
I see your only 16. Let me give you some free advice. Before you trash a product online thats known for good products, give it more than a 10 second thought. True NSCB jigs are better quality. Doesn't mean SK, jigs are crap.
I have been using bits bugs jigs for years, for the money they can't be beat.I have caught some big bass on these little jigs.

CPBass, I see nothing wrong with your post, the OP asked for your opinion and you gave it with back-up information. Nothing to be ashamed in what you did.
I see that you are fairly new here and may not have viewed the many posts about defective SK lures that have been purchased and have been replaced by the fine customer service folks at Strike King. They are probably the most user friendly folks in the industry, so if you have a defective product, give them a call, there are reports that they not only replace the product, but also ship extras at no charge.
Now if you don't like a product that's fine too, but IMHO, give them another whirl, maybe your opinion might change.
One other thing, there is a rep from SK who is a member here, he doesn't sign on a lot, but he his a member.
I don't understand CP's problem. If the jig was really as bad as he says, anyone could have seen how bad it was while on the shelf/hangar and still in the package. Why buy one that looks that bad unless all you want is an excuse to sound off about something.
The only fish I've ever caught on a jig have been on the watermelon green Bitsy Bugs, so what's that tell ya? If you said "You need to fish jigs more often", then you might be right.
I have not used them, but they are on my "to get" list for when I need a small jig.
I have 25 bitsy flips in my box right now....great little jigs especially for the price
and I know I will lose 80% of them this season lol
The bitsy bug with a paca chunk Jr is one of my favorites when doing some river fishing for smallies!
Like stated before you don't get so mad when you lose one to a snag.
Last year, I bought 6 jigs which were a 50/50 mix of Strike King Bitsy Bugs and Booyah somethingorothers. From what I saw, they were fine and worked fine - especially for the budget price I was able to get them. I didn't see any of the massive QC issues that other posters have raised.
I think you'll do fine with these.
I will add, however, that this year I bought a dozen jigs from Siebert Outdoors. I bought some of the Zenith series jigs which were (are?) on sale. They were only marginally more per jig than something like the SK or Booyahs and there is a marked increase in quality. So, when you lose your Bitsy Bugs you might want to consider that when you go to replace them.
I like them during cold front conditions when most guys are using finess gear. I'll opt for a BitsyBug with a good sized trailer that will give me a really slow fall and get it up against some form of cover as it falls. Also, in the fall, I'll swim a white jig with a shad style trailer through the upper water column with some bone jaring results.
i started getting into jig fishing this year. bought a black, watermellon and a green pumpkin. with net bait paca chunk trailors. so far the black is all iv caught fish on. but the water is pretty murky around here
I use them on my NRX 852/ Ci 2500 stradic w/ 10# nanofil. Fun combo
I like the way the way the trailer stays on them. Personally I'm not a fan of jig fishing for bass, that said for about 2 months straight this year I used nothing but, my catch rate was excellent both size and numbers. In all honestly I did not see much of difference between brand of jigs or type of trailer I was using, I even used ordinary bucktails with trailers when I was out of stock of bass jigs, they worked good too.

x2. These jigs with a paca craw trailer are killer. The SK bitsy bug craw trailers are ok too, though they don't last as long as the pacas and they're harder to thread onto the hook.
They are the best value out there. At $1-2.00 ea. it's hard to beat.

I love fishing bucktails for bass, and they seem to be as effective (or more so at times) without a trailer.

Some of the saltwater flats jigs have weed guards on the them, with or without a trailer I like they way they move.
I have used bitsy bugs, and flips for years without any problems. They are cheap enough so that I don't kick myself when I lose one.
Big fish like small jigs under certain circumstances. I personally use small jigs almost all the time because I like the fall rate. I get most of my bites on the fall, so I want to maximize the fall time per flip. the SK bitsy flip is a great jig for this purpose, not the best but I have cought plenty of 4-6 lb bass on them.

I have used the Bitsy Bugs a lot and have had good luck with them. My favorite trailers for them are the 3" Crazy Leg Chigger Craw or a Tiny Zoom Brush Hog. Makes for a nice little presentation for a finicky bass.

Try the small reaction innovations flirt worm as a trailer!
I like to fish them at a local pond. I have owned 3 with no issues so far.
I think the bitsy jigs makes great finesse jigs in my opinion. But to each there own. Ive fished these for years and have had great success on the little fella. There great for a beginner fisherman. Thats what i uswd when i started and thats bought the only jig i throw .
5 year old thread. The Bill Dance era Bitzy bug jig had cheap hooks, newer versions the hook has improved from bronze to black nickle. A jig is only as good as it's hook and Bitzy bugs have marginal hooks. Check the point, if it doesn't easily scratch your thumb nail sharpen it! This goes for any jig regardless of the price.
Tom
Very good finesse presentation. I like 1/16 and 1/8oz on a spinning rod with 6 or 8lb test with a tiny paca chunk as a trailer. The bitsy flip is good too, it has a beefier hook but I’ve never had an issue with the standard hooks using light line and the correct drag setting
I have picked up a few of these for stream smallies

This is my experience with them also. I’ve really only fished them for river smallies. I like the smaller size. And I’ve tipped them with a variety of soft plastics. The paca being a favorite along with Power Grubs. I fish them on spinning gear. I suppose they can be fished on lighter casting but my my gear suspect is too heavy.
In these late fall/early winter months I don't like trailers that have appendages with a lot of action. In really cold water situations I use a 3" Yum Dinger as a Bitsy Bug trailer.
As others above have stated, spinning gear is the way to go with these lightweight jigs.
Anyone know how the Bitsy Bug compares to the Siebert 1/8 Dredge Arky? Obviously the heads are different and the Siebert skirts look a bit longer but they could be easily trimmed. But with Siebert you get such a better selection of skirt colors. Was looking to get some for river smallies.
I prefer the "Bitsy Bug Flip" because of the heavier hook & weedguard.
I'll throw em mostly during winter & around wood.
I use the Swimmin Chunk from Zoom for a trailer.
Never had a single issue with the hooks.
I love them. I use the 1/16 and 1/8oz sizes in the Bitsy Bug jig with 8-10lb Power Pro with a 8lb leader.
They are not the best in very thick cover because the weed guard on them is on the thin side, but will bounce through less thick stuff pretty well. They are light so they sink slowly and don't plow into cover, I try to bounce them through stuff. They catch tons of fish and are an excellent small size for shallow water and certain situations. I also like the Bitsy Flip a lot, and use it in the thick stuff.
In that style I like the 1/4-3/8oz size. I like to tinker so, I always modify both by re-tying the skirts with wire because the skirts will fall off after some fish with the the rubber band that come on them. Using the wire also makes the skirts flare out more. Another trick I have used with the Bisty Bug (not the flip) is to stiffen the weed guard. I put a touch of Crazy Glue by the base of the weed guard, let it dry for 2-3min. If you made it too stiff you can still pull it apart to make is less stiff again. For me they are worth it to tinker with because they are so cheaply priced, and I catch tons of fish on them. That's my 2 cents
I've never once caught a fish against Cypress trees on a 1/4 oz bitsy flip with a speed craw trailer. They're a waste send them all to me and I'll properly dispose of them cause I'm such a nice guy
I use Strike King Bitsy Bug jigs (not Bitsy Flip) for river smallmouth. I lose a lot of jigs to the rocky snaggy bottom of my river and the Bitsy Bug is my #1 jig choice because of their price. They can be found online for $1.79 each. The hook is a 2/0 bronze (not black nickel) but usually sharp out of the package and easily sharpened if not. It won't bend out if you match your rod and line size accordingly.
I fish the 3/16 ounce with a SK Baby Rage craw trailer (usually shortened by two segments) on a ML casting rod rated 1/8-1/2 ounce and 10# FC line.

You will obviously get a better quality hook with Siebert. And more choices for skirt color. And a wire tie if you want it. I've used Siebert's Sniper jig for river smallies and it's a really nice jig! And if it cost $1.79 that's the only jig I would use. But it costs $3.35.
This year my fishing opportunities were severely limited because of repeated river flooding and I still lost 23 jigs to the snaggy bottom. I'm not convinced a better quality jig would help me catch more river smallmouth so I save some $$ by using Bitsy Bug jigs.
Another good about these jigs is their availability, every Wally World has em!
Use them in the River all the time,Baby Rage Menace or Baby Rage Craw for trailers.Smallies and Spots tear em up.
I've done good on the Bitsy Bug jig too. Black/blue with a small Zoom chunk trailer. Years ago, this jig taught me to slow down. It's easy to work a lightweight jig too fast. I've tried the Eakins finesse jig also, and really couldn't say it caught more or better size than the Bitsy Bug.
One of the jigs I learned to fish jigs with was a Bitsy bug. The hooks are terrible though which brought me to making my own version eventually. 1/4oz Snootie jig with a much better quality hook.
