Senko question 2024

fishing user avatarairborne_angler reply :

I have been reading all about Senkos and wanted to try them. Here where I live They arent available, but I was able to find a 5"KINAMI FLASH made by KINAMI BAITS which is part of YAMAMOTO ENTERPRISES.

They look just like the SENKOS,do they work as well? Thanks in advance

fishing user avatarChris reply :

sure they work ;D

fishing user avatardodgeguy reply :

same thing.try yum dingers also.they have a slightly different fall rate and they last longer.sometimes they work when a senko won't and vice versa.

fishing user avatarShad_Master reply :

The kinami's are made by Gary Yamamoto's son.  The story is that he gave his son access to the molds, but not the formula.  There are a lot of "knock offs" of Senko's that work just as well.  Last week in a tournament, my partner (boater) took second place using "Trick Sticks" from Wolftackle.com.  People using Senko's and Kinami's didn't do as well.  Was it the bait or was it that we found fish when others didn't.  I would suggest it was some of both.

fishing user avatarNick_Barr reply :

same thing, different texture. They work.

fishing user avatarBD reply :

Yes they work. ;)

Yami's son makes that brand you mentioned.

Be patient with the senko, it will pay off.

Anything else you want to know, ask us. ;D

fishing user avatarjcrazy reply :

Which stick bait came out first? Senko, Slug-go, Yum Dinger, and the list goes on..

fishing user avatarGobbleDog reply :

The only types of Senkos I use are the one that STINK to high hell.  And so far, I only know of two brands that have that characteristic:

Tiki Sticks and Chompers. They catch more fish than you can shake a stick at.

fishing user avatarMuddpuppy reply :

Have you checked the online Dealer list.  I know I never could find more than a few Senkos around here, after looking on it I hit the "Yamamato Mother Load"  It may not be like that there, but you may be able to find a few of the popular ones.  I think Bass Pro Shops are starting to carry them also and they can be ordered direct from GYCB.

fishing user avatarJ-Heywood reply :

any of you guys have any luck trying the 3x zeros, i use them a lot but have a problem with them floating. after a while of using them they seem to wanna sink, do i need to let them dry out or what

Two different lure categories here. Slug-Go was the first soft jerkbait, while I believe Senko was the first soft stickbait. The Yum Dinger is one of the million or so Senko knockoffs.

fishing user avatarBen reply :

You can always go on line and order them directly from GYCB.   They are definetly worth getting.  I've been using them about six years with great results.  They also were great when the summer bite is slow fished carolina rigged off main points,  not  just as a shallow water soft jerk.

fishing user avatarAOY reply :

I use TIKI STIKS which look just like SENKOS which look just like FLASH which look just like.....

TIKI sticks have been GREAT to me.  I like licorice so sometimes I eat them myself--not really, but the fish do!

fishing user avatarskeeterman reply :

to me they work better than the senko in certain colors like the watermelon pepper.

fishing user avatarRaul reply :

JT Bagwell said that they are the same Shadmaster.

Why bother in locating a dealer and purchasing only what he has in stock if you can have access to the entire line of baits and also get some pretty good deals that GYCB has ? www.baits.com .

fishing user avatarfishingrulz reply :

is Wave Worm the only brand that makes TIKI-STIKS???

Yes,that is just their version of the senko.

fishing user avatarPond-Pro reply :

Kinami Flash : Yamamoto Senko

Same bait or not? Does any one know?

fishing user avatarDyas reply :

I havent found much difference between the two..........

fishing user avatarbass master reply :

I dont see the difference between the two. Ive caught the same on either worm.  BPS stik worms are not the same. Dont be fooled by the cost.

fishing user avatarGeorge Welcome reply :

Let's get it straight:

Senko - Kinami

Only the packaging is different!

fishing user avatarfisherman_54 reply :

I use all different kinds of senkos and senko knockoffs. Its probably the easiest bait to use. I use them all year. I have tried Dingers, GYCB Senkos, Kinami Flash, Wave Worm, Culprit Stingers, and I have always had the best luck on Wave Worms. I like those the best. My favorite colors are the Baby Bass and Junebug colors. Also Magic Shad is what i believe its called is a good color. Tye on some of those and give them a shot

fishing user avatarRoLo reply :

I read where Yamamoto Senko and Kinami Flash are identical,

that the only difference is their marketing venue.

I am not positive however.

fishing user avatarBrad_Coovert reply :

Yes, RoLo, they are the same.

i must say that ive fished quite a few different kinds of senkos. ive liked about every one except gulp sinking minnows. ive had the worst luck with those. gulp just doesnt produce results like they advertise. Ive had better luck with about anything other than gulp. gulp just seems to affect the fish around here negatively

I agree...gulp sinking minnow seems to have too stiff an action compared to more traditional senko type baits. Could be the bag I had though. And they stink!

fishing user avatarSneakySnook reply :

I use the Yum dinger in watermelon they work great for me. But I have to say that the best would be the tiki worm in the watermelon with red flakes. The bass would tear them apart.

fishing user avatarAnthonyB reply :

I use the kinami flash in black with blue flake and they seem to work better for me than the Yamamoto brand (maybe its just a mind thing) but if i ever was to set a bait that would guarentee me a fish it would be the flash
