Most expensive lure you own 2024

fishing user avatarrowyourboat reply :

Just curious- what’s the most expensive lure you have.  Mine would have to just be some 20-25 dollar ranger jerkbaits.

Any of you boys and girls high rollers? Maybe chucking a Roman mother or something? Haha

fishing user avatarbillmac reply :

I'm super cheap and am pretty skeptical of really expensive lures.  My most expensive lures are undoubtedly some Rapala jerkbaits, most likely in the $7-ish range.

fishing user avatarBird reply :

Like above, I rarely spend much on a lure, something easily lost.

I go for baits that look and act like the best but at a fraction of the price....they exist.

Now overall money spent on fishing is totally different, boats, rods and reels, trips, gets into the thousands.

fishing user avatarVolFan reply :

I have a few swimbaits in the $150-200 range, and a bunch in the $50-100 range. I used to think it was ridiculous, but then i got on a Slammer bite.

fishing user avatarKsam1234 reply :

About 45$ but 55$ with shipping and handling , it’s the shellcracker G2

fishing user avatarrowyourboat reply :

I forgot to add - post some pics of you can!!! Would love to see some of these

fishing user avatarTnRiver46 reply :

I was gifted a whopper plopper, sprinker frog, and expensive looking chatterbait by a fellow bass resource member.  The most expensive one I have personally purchased would probably be a rapala x rap and shadow rap at about $9. I was also gifted an Alabama rig when they first came out that was probably $40 worth of gear all together but I no longer own it. Capt Neptune took it from me on the second cast.

fishing user avatarMN Fisher reply :

Most expensive owned? WP-110 that was gifted to me

Most expensive purchased? Toss up between one of my Rapalas or my Super Spooks.

fishing user avatarBrett's_daddy reply :

I went on a Megabass spending spree this summer...gulp...lol. Seriously the most expensive is a $25 I-Jack and a few $20 Pop-Max.

fishing user avatarDSTN reply :

Currently nothing too fancy, a whopper plopper would be the priciest I've ventured so far. Any day now though I'm going to finally cave and get a White Python Pop Max.

fishing user avatarswhit140 reply :

Probably less than $15.00, I sure wouldn't buy anything over $20.00. I don't feel there is any advantage of spending high dollar for lures.  I can go fish with a $2-$6 lure/baits and catch 10-20 fish a majority time I go fish for a day.

fishing user avatarFishTank reply :

Megabass Slide.

I have several Megabass baits but this one is so cool looking, it just sits in the box.

fishing user avatarBassjam2000 reply :

Toxic Baits wake n crank, $120.00 after shipping. I’d include a pic but I’m busy practicing knots ????

I think my most expensive is around $60. 6" Bull Shad.

Sounds more like a man lure than a fish lure.

Got Hinkle’s, DEPS 250s, some Romans and others ... it’s honestly embarrassing to think how much I’ve spent on some of these baits. But they get fished and the only one I have yet to catch a fish on is a DEPS 250.

fishing user avatarmoguy1973 reply :

Mine is a Black Dog Shellcracker G2 wake bait.  I think I paid $19.99 for it a few years ago but it seems their price has gone up a bit since then.

fishing user avatarscaleface reply :

Nine bucks . I plan on never spending 10 dollars on a fishing lure .

fishing user avatarjbsoonerfan reply :

I think an S Song is the most expensive bait I have, but I have spent more money on Megabass stuff than I care to think about. Most of the Pop Max's I just look at.

fishing user avatarOCdockskipper reply :

The top 4 or 5 most expensive lures I own are lures I didn't buy, but rather lures I found while out fishing.

We have some pampered kids who sneak in to fish our lake and when they snag their big swimbaits on a boat cover, they just break the line rather than risk getting caught trying to retrieve them.  No loss to them, they just ask their parents for more cash to buy some replacements.

I own somewhere between 0 and 48 $100 & under swimbaits. I'm gonna get 5 or 6 $100+ swimbaits then I'm done buying them.???? If I ever own a Mother it'll be homemade.

A SU edition toxic wade hogs but that one was gifted to me as a get better present from my accident last year.

purchased probably the 3 phoney shads($130 a piece) I bought when I was still in the mindset that swimbaits are like all baits need several and every color should break in off haha my bank account quickly reminded me that’s not the case with swimbaits lol.

fishing user avatarRB 77 reply :

Triple Trout. I never throw the thing. I should change that. haha

fishing user avatarGoldstar225 reply :

Probably $7-$8.  No way that I'm going to spend big bucks on a single lure.

fishing user avatarDogBone_384 reply :

Kittery Trading Post had a sale on MegaBass before Christmas.  I bought four Vision 110’s.

fishing user avatarthe reel ess reply :

SPRO Rat or Savage Gear Glide. I also have a Livingston Walking Boss in the Amazon cart, waiting to pull the trigger. They're all about the same cost. I have a pain threshold, but I'll break it one day. The Rat has actually worked for me. When I was young and broke, I bought all my lures at WalMart and had a $5 limit I imposed on myself for a single bait. They had some exclusive deals that made baits cheaper that you could only get there. It really hurt to have a crankbait hung up and have to break it off. It's funny, now that I'm at a point in life where I have enough money to buy whatever I want (within reason, of course), I don't want that much stuff.

fishing user avatarJermination reply :

several old zoom squarebills(11 to be exact), my pappaw gave them to me years ago long before they were 50+ bucks a pop on ebay

fishing user avatarHook2Jaw reply :

KTP is an excellent source for Megabass lures (and a lot of other lure brands as well). Their customer service is exceptional and their ship times aren't too bad either. If you sign up for their newsletter (it's free) they give you free shipping on every order $20 or more.

fishing user avatarsoflabasser reply :

The most expensive lures I own are the swimbaits I made. Building materials to make swimbaits and time invested to make these lures is not cheap but it is worth it.

fishing user avatarbillmac reply :

You guys who have $100+ lures: How do you dare throw them?  Call me naive but I had no idea there even were such lures.  I'd use 100lb braid and electric fence wire as a leader.  I'd keep a mask and snorkel in the boat to make sure I never lost one to a snag.

Some years ago, when I was working, making good $$$, I had about 1500.00 worth of custom 3:16 baits, which ran from about $90.00 to 250.00..I was throwing the 250.00 trout on 25 lb Big Game mono..Never lost one of those lures, wound up selling all of them when I stopped fishing. Now I wish I had kept them..Most expensive lure I have now are my Huddelstons.

fishing user avatarLog Catcher reply :

My most expensive lures are Lucky Craft Pointers and Sammys. I will never spend any more than that for a lure.

fishing user avatarDanielG reply :

Over $200

My most expensive lure is the first one I made. After much thought and study I sprung for about $200+ in equipment and consumables to gear up to make lures. This is the first one. I made everything except the hooks. Granted, now that I've made it, all of the others will cost me about 60 cents each so It will be cost effective if I make enough of them, not to mention the fun and satisfaction to do this.

I'm not a big swimbait fisherman so I've steered clear of the really high dollar stuff.  But I have more Vision 110's than I'd care to account for...Actually more $25 class baits in general, I shouldn't tally them up ????.

The most valuable baits I have are probably several from this box...Some of these could probably bring a high price if I were to sell them.

I've had great luck with the Spro rats. I found that I do the best on them when I slow them way down. I use a very slow retrieve so that they are doing a slow wobble on the surface usually parallel to shore.

It's a tie at $19.99 between the Megabass Pop Max or Megabass S-crank. Since I don't yet own a boat (someday), I never fish larger swimbaits, but that's something I hope to get into someday.

&68 custom swim bait I got for Christmas. I’ve bout a couple of the spro rats 304/ sizes a handful of pop Max’s and some jackhammers.  The jack hammers I might as well buy 3 go to the lake take the first two out of the package and just throw them in the lake and fish the third one till I loose it. I’m cursed with them. Either snag them or cast them off right away.

Supposed to be $68 swim bait and 30/40 size rats.

Realistically the money Spent on the same exact soft plastic over and over again Trumps hard bait purchases in most of us I’m sure

Well the lure I would hate to lose the most is one I made myself. It doesn't have very good action, it's a popper that's too heavy - oops! But I'd rather any other bait than this little guy.

I've only tried it once, it cost practically nothing to make, but it's the most valuable to me ;)

My homemade crank bait spins like a top as you reel it in (totally worthless), but I'd hate to lose that one too.
