Anyone seen or used any of the copy cat whopper Ploppers?
I have some of the KO blanks that I've had painted. Actually had one guide trip the guy in the back of the boat was catching all the fish on a KO behind a 110 and 90 R2S plopper. Not sure if he was doing something different but he spanked everyone with the KO bait.

Is the resource for the KO blanks shareable?
Google search whopper plopper blanks and you'll find plenty.
Nope. Use the real Whopper Ploppers.
Lost two in one day on the Chickahominy River.

I hear you, I have several and have good luck on most of them. I like the powder and T1000 colors and use them a lot. Just thought it might be fun to paint some custom colors.

Berkley is selling em now!
No honor among thieves
I’ve heard the Berkley model solves a lot of the running problems the WP 110 has, so I’ve been wanting to try it pretty bad. Especially at the price they sell for. It’s a great bait, but if I can get it cheaper than $15, I’m gonna do it.

I haven't heard of any issues with the 110s? The running issues with the 90 are mostly user error IMO too. I use the 90 mostly in wind, waves, and around weeds, catches tons of fish. The Berkleys seem nice too, unfortunately they came out too late in the season and I didn't get to use any of mine before the water got too cold.

Idk why I have a problem with this, but I will always matter-of-factly recite the wrong numbers.
You’re correct, I meant the 90.
I catch a ton ton of fish on the 90, too, but fishing from the bank, on bomb casts, I don’t think that we’re high enough to have our rod high enough to get it to run right. The angle we stand at on flat land just makes it want to nose dive.
I fish mostly the 110, but own several others. They were the size I learned to fish and have a lot of confidence in. I would love to hear how you fish them and what you fish them on. I fish with a a high rod tip and keep as much line out of the water as possible. My buddy fishes the 90 a lot, it is what he has confidence in, and he probably catches more fish than I do, but I am ok with that, just looking for a couple of really good hits.
I will stick with my Whopper Plopper. I don't really care how much cheaper these other baits are and for me the frugal fisherman that says a lot.
The WP is one of the most economical baits I own. I still have my original Bluegill colored WP 90 that I bought 2 years ago. I have caught dozens of fish on it and have not had to change the hooks yet.
I might pick up a Choppo, just because I love all things Berkley.
I have 3 versions. The original, the choppo and the smashtail. Haven't got to use the last 2 yet but if they're anything close I'll be happy. I have a 5 year old who has all 3 too. He caught a 3+ one day and has been hooked on it since. And while he's a good caster for a 5 year old he's 5 so I'm sure the tree monsters at the creek will acquire one and hopefully it's the cheaper ones
I used the Choppo a fair amount this past year just before its release in September. Honestly couldn’t tell the difference between it and the WP, but at 2/3 the price I’ll be buying them pretty much exclusively now. I for one think tackle prices have skyrocketed and this is a more reasonable and economical route.
I want to try the Savage Gear Smash Tail Minnow this year. They are a few bucks cheaper than the WP's and from what I've read and seen in reviews the fins on the body keep it from rolling.
Man, those KO's look great. I'd keep one unpainted!

Shhhh!!
The KO's are just as effective as the originals. Think about the ChatterBaits. When they first appeared on the scene, everyone had to "only" use the original - if you wanted to catch fish. Now many lure manufacturers replicate the same bait. All are effective. Same holds true for the WP bait. And as it will be for any other lure to come down the pike (pun intended!).
As I've always repeated, from the father of structure fishing (E.B.P.), lures are just tools. It's up to the angler how he uses those tools. There is no "magic" in lures.

What size hooks do you use on 110’s?

+1 River 2 Sea or Berkley - buy on sale or discount.
Ko's (Chinese knock off) are good. Try Dinger baits for the unpainted blanks.
I heard the Berkley has a bigger tail and it's hard plastic. Might break on a bad cast.
Hate to break it to you guys, but if your familiar with musky fishing at all, you’d know that the whopper plopper is maybe the original knock off, these guys have been around for years.
And yes, I have caught some big smallies on these while Musky fishing, they seem to like the baby loon colour a lot.

That was a popular story when these baits were first released as bass baits. Thanks for sharing the information, probably some that were not aware.

I've caught some tiny largemouth on my muskie choppers, and one bigger one fish.
Anybody tried the vixen ko's? Are they the same
?

No, never did. I did catch a few prespawn bass on the original 130 though.
I hardly ever have used my WP but still just bought a Choppo to try out.

Yes. I'm glad I'm not the only guy who doesnt think the wopper plopper is "origianal". I have 2 mini mud puppies that I bought 20+ years ago. They work well. I have a whopper plopper and it is a complete rip off of the mud puppy. I dont dislike the WP, but its irritating to hear people talk about it like it's something new and act like it's such a great lure. In my experiance, super spook juniors and other walking stick bait lures out fish the WP every time.

I loved my KVD Sexy Dawgs which I'm sure were a knock-off of the Super Spook and caught a ton of fish on them but never close as many as the WP's have.
