Wanted to know what was everyones favorite bait and why.
Spinner baits, You can cover a lot of water, you can crank fast for the surface or crank slow for the bottom, and they are fairly weedless.
i was sorta split between spinnerbait and worms...i really like finesse fishing. but i like to powerfish almost as well
"Other" is going to win because jigs are a pretty good lure...
I had to say other because Jig is not listed. I catch my bigger fish on the jig and more importantly I have a lot of confidence throwing it.
My confidence bait is a spinnerbait. My favorite baits are two plastics; Zoom 6" Lizard and Reaction Innovations Sweet Beaver 4.20.
A lizard is probably my go to bait. Both 4" and 5.5" for smallmouth.
My first choice is a jig, then my second choice is a Jig, and my last choice is a JIG. Besides those three, I throw a JIG.
I went topwater cause that is just plain FUN!!!! It may not be the most productive but its my favorite, nothing like a topwater hit!!!! If you mean most productive I would say plastic worm or other plastics.
The plastic worm is the only lure made that a BASS CANNOT REMEMBER!
I like cranks and worms, but i tend to fish more worms. Also love the topwater bite.
Plastic worms, but crankbaits are a close second.
I love to fish topwater but seldom do since the plastic worms have been the most productive baits the last several times out. Jigs with tubes have also been a good producer for me. Later this year I'll revert back to some topwater during the early and late hours of the day. Nothing like a topwater strike to get your heart pumping. IMO:o)
1. Crankbaits
1a. Buzzbaits
80% of my bass come from various rigs of plastic worms, 15% from crankbaits, 4% from topwaters and 1% from everything else.
Fat Ika
Jig,with various soft plastics added as trailers
Jigs. Becuase you can use it all year round, and can catch fish all year roud.
Jig
Jerkbaits for me.
8-)
jig
Creature baits....a different look and can cover a variety of conditions.
Top waters are fun to catch 'em on but Plastics work best. Especially creature baits!!!Plastics got my vote
crankbait because they are pretty darn effective, but mainly cuz theyre FUN!!!!!
A lot of you guys picked what was most effective and I don't think there is any wrong answer. I catch most my fish Crankbaits and plastics but my favorite has to be the buzzbait. There are few things that can get your heart thumping like pulling a buzzbait through some Tullies and have a hawg just crush it on the surface.
spinnerbait
plastic worm has caught me the most fish
I voted "plastic worm" but spinnerbaits and crankbaits are close seconds.
A topwater bite always "takes the cake"
The Tube. The bait that looks like nothing, but imitates seemingly everything.
Quote"Other" is going to win because jigs are a pretty good lure...
Yeah, jigs should definately be a choice.
Jigs are winning as they should.
i like plastics, jerkbaits, and topwater. those are what i use the most.
Nothing better than a plastic worm (your choice). You can mimic almost anything with a worm and proper technique. You can fish it slow, fast, texas rig, carolina rig, drop shot, split shot, morning, afternoon, evening and in the winter, spring, summer and fall. You can fish it in any water and around any type of cover and it is good pre-spawn, post-spawn and everywhere in between.
All lures have their place and time but the plastic worm is the one bait that has stood the test of time.
I'm telling you, "swimbaits will catch big fish in your waters too" !
Anyway, I picked "other" as swimbaits were not on the list.
Specifically, a Hud #12, in natural, or holdover trout color (which will also work in lakes that have never seen a trout).
Peace,
Fish
I had to cast my vote for others since the good old Jig is not in the list.
In terms of productivity my choice would be a flippin' jig and in terms of pleasure that would also be flipping a jig.
As for the trailer, I'll go with a Zoom super chunk for what I fish the most ....and a BigDaddyFrog Pork trailer (Uncle Josh) for pleasure of fishing (It's far from being a productive trailer for me... but I love it when I catch a bass on it.
I go with plastic worms. But I do enjoy the topwater bite! It is a blast!!!
