BASSMASTER has just uploaded a number of new items which will be shown at this year's ICAST Show - what are your favorites ?
The new Minn Kota, if it is what it appears to be, a foretrex with anchor lock!
Disappointed in another split grip GLX...
Trapper hooks look really interesting and so does the line welder if it works as they say it does.
Gantia Jointed Swimbait ~ Z-Man TRD TubeZ ~ Shimano Metanium MGL ~ St Croix Legend Glass Rods
Minn Kota Ultrex ~ Bass Mifia Deep Cranking Coffin

More curious rather than excited about what gloomis new focus on "balance" means to them on the new glx

Cool new hardbaits from Megabass. New Glx looks good I dont have a problem with the split grip but like kickerfish I would prefer full...

Thanks!
The new Mustad hook. Looks like the ole classic worm hook, just updated with heavier wire and a nice keeper.
The TRD Tubez which I had heard about a while ago, so hoping we don't have to wait to long for that one to hit the shelves.
The trapper hook is intriguing, I can't figure out if if is legit or just another gimmick. I will probably pick some up to find out which it is.
New GLX MBR's could have full grips like the E6x ones.
I'm interested in the Zoom Original worms. I still have about 20 bags of the original pours of these worms. They are deadly on a shake head. I still pick up every pack I run across in older tackle stores. Maybe these newer ones will be as good as the older ones.
Also I'm interested in the new Zman TRD Tubes.
The Gill shorts look nice, I switched to softshell hiking pants for winter/fall and have yet to find a pair of shorts that I really like.
The Trapper hooks look interesting as well, I fish a lot of small, weightless plastics and if these things work they seem perfect for me.
The Zman micro-finesse jigs are an instant buy, but I wish they offered one in 1/16oz.
And finally, the Zman TRD Tubes. I am going to buy enough to fill my bathtub and swim around in them like Scrooge McDuck. A cut down Hula Stick is my goto lure most days and this looks even better. I was literally pining about something like this just a day or two ago. Excited beyond reason here.
Zman tube and creature bait (going to be a killer swing head bait).
Pfluegar President baitcaster looks great, and if it's anything like the spinning reel.
Do-it Ned Rig mold with a keeper. Please, please, PLEASE have more than 1 cavity per size so I can stop pouring these things one at a time.
Seaguar Finesse fluoro and Rippin mono
Hardbaits were pretty disappointing.
My I-cast wish of a ned rig do-it mold came true! I can't wait until barlows gets the new mold in stock, plus the new baits z-man is releasing look awesome, especially the tube. There goes my savings for a new topwater rod.

Debs thumper tail swimbait that butch brown keeps teasing me with!
I was really thinking of picking up a GLX but these new ones just don't look as nice to me as the last ones..
I may try the Yo-Zuri TopKnot fluorocarbon since I really like Hybrid for cranking
Sunline BX2 may go on my frogging rod
Standup Fish head spin could be an awesome ripping bait
Zman tube looks good, By the way any of you lucky guys in the industry that are going to Icast, if you have an extra ticket for a guest, I would love to go. Please let me know.
So no crankbait rods in the new GLX line.
Am I just getting old? None this crap really looks new to me. Just rehashing old stuff, telling us it's new and better, we can't live without it. and upping the price. Spot lock, or whatever they call this year, trolling motor. Who cares? I don't see nothing that makes me reach for my credit card.

There are two things I'm over the moon about.
1- anything Z Man is releasing
2- the FeelFree pedal/troll/coast module that you can use with any of their pass-thru console boats. That's a GAME CHANGER for me!
Popping perch is interesting. Hopefully it's Sexy Frog price and not Livetarget price. The pike are hungry for my wallet.

The Rapala Shad Dancer looks like a winner, will have to pick up a few of them, darn bait monkey
To me, iCast really isn't that that exciting. It's a very important part of the fishing industry, and it brings a lot of exposure and everything. But an icast best of show really doesn't mean much to me. The things I listed caught my eye in one way, shape, or form, but I don't really see anything that mind blowing.
I'm pretty dang sure the Savage Rat or Duck will get the best of show this year, the duck being the most different thing I see being offered so far.
I like the new Ned Rig stuff, always fun to experiment.
I've been looking forward to the Strike King Popping Perch for at least a year since I first read about it.
The Yamamato Zako swimbait looks pretty cool for a trailer.
Considering how good of a company they are and the value of the spinning version, the Pfleuger President baitcast reel just might prove to be the best $80 reel on the market.

No kidding. For that kind of money just get the needed glasses if you can't read numbers on small screens. Anything beyond 10-12 inches would be overkill IMO. What are people trying to do? Display their graph info so everyone on that lake can see it.
My buddy runs dual 10 inch screens on his Ranger. I can read the graph up front from the back of the boat during low light periods. He also has 5 locators on that boat which IMO is overkill, but hey, if you can, than why not

Strike King downsized the Bullworm. I may be in the minority but that 10" one is humongous. I will like the 8" better.

I think these were made for commercial fishing boats. I've seen one that big on a tuna boat. The captain can see it all the way from the stern.

Seems to be aimed at the off shore crowd, where this isn't much compared to the boat. The large screen would be useful to show radar (other boats and weather), nav, sonar, and gauges/auto Pilate at the same time.
bass mafia blade box. that is one awesome spinnerbait/buzzbait box. The new terminal box looks over the top. The standard coffin is great as is and probably holds more.

the line welder doesn't actually weld the line to itself, it basically holds it together with some epoxy type stuff... It could be practical in some situations but a lot of times the fish are gonna see a chunk of plastic in front of the lure. That's just the impression I got from the classic this year when I tried one

Several new canoe/kayak offerings this year from all the major brands. We shot a bunch of videos today on all of them, and will get them posted asap. FLW just put up a post with the "Best Of" winners - http://www.flwfishing.com/tips/2016-07-14-icast-2016-new-product-showcase-awards
- The Savage Gear duck looks awesome in the water.
- Looking for a price on those St. Croix Legend Glass rods.
- Those Trapper hooks have me scratching my head, can anyone explain the theory behind that hook design?
- I've been eyeing the Old Town Predator kayak since i first came out, but was trying to figure out if a Hobie with the pedal drive would be a better option, but now the Predator has it's own pedal drive system, so that ends the debate.
I've been watching some of the product videos, and the Bass Mafia stuff really caught my eye. I'm a sucker for organization and these things look freaking awesome.
Hackney's been making me smile. A lot of his Icast presentations have been delightfully flippant and amusing.
Saw a short video on "JigSkinz". Allows you to put a new cover on different baits like topwaters, jerkbaits and cranks. The video says it works with lead jigs too. Not sure I'd buy it but looks interesting.
I'm excited for the storm arashi spin to get my foot wet into spybaiting. Also going to get a pflueger president xt casting reel . The new live target swim baits look good. Also might try the new seaguar lines.
seriously.. what are those "trapper" hooks?
It looks like you can sign up for free samples of those Trapper hooks (shipping Dec 2016) - https://trappertackle.com/sign-up-for-free-samples
The Yo-Zuri Top Knot flouro is something I'll probably try out. Same diameters as Seaguar/Sunline and priced right to compete with Red Label. New colors in the Rage Bug and Menace plus the bigger size in the Rage Bug will also find their way into my boat. Bass Mafia Blade Box probably will too.
I'm very interested to see how the Ultrex trolling motor plays out over the next year or so too...
Me too^^^
only thing interesting to me is the pflueger baitcasting reel and some zman stuff. Other than that this years icast is garbage

Reminds me of a couple of Musky swimbaits I have that will do a 180 on a twitch to tick off a following fish enough to slam the lure.

honestly, I thought they were just unsegmented swim baits before I they explained the action in the videos. As we both know though, even if you keep one of those on the surface, there not gonna disrupt the water much. That tail moves water like a backwards popper. If you look, the shape of the sides does a lot of work too!

Has anybody had any on the water experience with the z-man big trd, tube-z, or the shroom-z jig?
I spent a few hours one afternoon fishing the trd tube for smallmouth in a small river. It seems to have more action then a TRD, but is lighter and doesn't cast or skip as well. Action-wise, it looks much better when swam then the TRD, but not as much as a half zlinker it shortned Hula stick.
It was durable and preformed well on the zman jigs, with a perfect fall rate on the 1/20oz one. It faired less well on Gopher 1/16oz jigs, it didn't stay on well without glue.
Where it really shined, was rigged weedlessly on An Owner 1/16oz-#1/0 Ultrahead bAll jig. The solid head held the shank well and the hollow rear allows much much better hook sets then a TRD or other solid plastic. The durability is also amazing rigged this way.
The tentacels didn't have much action and stuck together until I lubed them up with scent. While the plastic isn't nearly as absorbent as a older hall zlinker, the tentacels and hollow butt really help the scent last. I am going to look into a more viscous scent to try and fill the hollow butt with it.
All in all, I like it. Right now 90% of my MWF fishing is done with half zlinkers and shortned Hula sticks. I use the former for more swimming presentations and the latter for more more hop/drag ones. I plan to fish the TRD Tube against the Hula stick to see if one or the other performs better.

I posted my review on the stutter step on another thread.
The President has really wowed me so far. It's been a lot like the spinning version so far, feels like a solid workhorse that is probably worth more than they're charging. Obviously only time will tell if it has the durability of the spinning version, but I'm pretty confident it will prove itself worthy there too in time.

I know it can cast a 90 Whopper Plopper out of sight but I haven't used anything super light. I have no doubt that it will handle light baits without issues. It's nice and compact, very easy to palm.

Mine should be here next week. Have to admit, pretty disappointed that they didn't make it with the traditional Ned Rig jighead weights. Seems like they're trying to cash in on the rush and didn't do much homework on it. I was hoping for a mold with 1/20, 1/16, and 3/32, maybe 2 cavities of each. Oh well, beggars can't be choosers, I just won't have any use for this mold and anything above 1/8oz most likely.

I was also hoping for and expecting one with smaller weight sizes than 1/16 ounce, something like two cavities for 1/32 oz, 1/20 oz. and two or three cavities for the 1/16 ounce mold. Not sure why you would ever use a 1/4 ounce ned rig jig head, or for that matter anything over 3/32 ounce seems overkill to me. At least it has few more choices and the option for a wire keeper. Thanks for the heads up on it being for sale though, I might just get it anyways.

I haven't heard anything on it. It's really a shame that companies don't release lefties at the same time. It can't be that hard to switch the handle side. I think it's going to be worth the wait for the lefties once they're released though.
