Strike King Silent Red Eye Shad for me . Caught the fish about 20 foot deep on a point , hopping the lure like a worm . I dont know the weight . It had the length of an 8 lber and the girth of a 5 .
Gambler Big Ez swimbait. stick marsh 9-7 .just random casting through submerged trees.
Whopper plopper 90 size. Caught one a little bigger but it says the file is too big to upload and did not have a scale on me to verify. It was the same whopper plopper though.
Rage Space Monkey, can't remember which color. 1/4oz jig rig in about 18" of water.
A MB vision 110, 6.74lbs
Black trick worm
I caught several 6+ lbers this year.
A couple on a SK KVD 200 size suspending jerkbait, and a couple more on a swim jig.
What was odd about the 2016 season for me...........is I usually catch my biggest fish in mid-to latr April, early to mid August, and late Sept.- mid October.
This year it was early May, and mid July.
berkley power worm
Crock-o-Gator Head Knocker buzzbait.
Pretty sure it was on a Yamamoto Shad Shape Worm
on a drop shot.
Sadly, I never broke 5# last year. Caught several 4#'s on old triangular style 6" black Power Lizards.
Scum frog and a Rage Cut R...Love Those things
Mike
Booyah pad crasher
Mann's Baby 1 Minus that was 8.13. Caught it on July 5th on a pretty hot day.
An old, cheap BPS Uncle Buck's white double willow, hammered nickel blade spinnerbait...on the trailer hook.
I also didn't break the 5lb mark last year. This one was 4 something on a GP t-mac finesse worm on 1/4 ounce shaky head. About 15ft of water
4" jointed swimbait from LTB. Little over 6lb. LMB out of Pat Mayse Lake.
just under 22 inches and on Excalibur 1/4 oz Zell-Pop-R in a bluegill finish.
6" Zoom Dead Ringer in Green Pumpkin with part of the tail dipped in chartreuse dye. Texas Rigged with a 1/0 Mister Twister keeper hook and and a 1/8 oz tungsten weight on 8lb Nanofil with an 8lb P-line fluorocarbon leader. Weighed 8 lbs, 4 oz.
Zoom horn frog. Throwing it to the bank then twitching and letting it die about 2ft off the bank. Caught several good ones that day.
4 pounder on a black buzz bait.
I didn't break the 5 pound mark this year, and only broke the 4 pound mark once. That bass was on a Chrome/blue back Cordell Super Spot.
5.84 on a june bug Zoom U tail worm in late June
Reins bubbling shaker 4" green pumpkin fished on a dropshot is what got me all my biggest fish this year. Biggest went 6lb and I lost a couple more good ones.
Sadly, I don't know the weight of her. The length was 22.5 inches and FAT! Obviously take it with a grain of salt seeing as there's no scales to back it up.
Caught on a Cabin Creek Salty Critter Jr tube (2.5") in watermelon blue flake.
Spro Bronzeye in Rainforest Black
Keitech 4.8" swing impact fat rigged on a weighted swimbait hook.
Caught 3 between 6-7lbs on a chart./white chatterbait.
Lethal Weapon IV swim jig and a kietech 3.8 trailer.
6 lbs ~ Zoom Magnum Trick Worm ~

Your facial expressions are hilarious. Nice bass
This one was caught on a keitech, but the 8+ pounder i lost was on a neko rig skipped under a dock
this is great

Beleive it or not, there were dorkier ones! . Thanks man, she was awesome! I'm hoping to find her next season too.
LM was on a wacky rigged stick worm following up a buzzbait miss.
SM was a spinnerbait running parallel to rip rap on the river.
When the wind is gusting to 30 mph and you're in a 14' aluminum boat it's very difficult to stay steady enough to get an accurate weight - which is why you see this smallie, which I estimated at 5+ lbs., resting in the net in the bottom of the boat. She ate a 5/8 oz. vibrating blade bait which I had assembled from Barlow's components.
Biggest LM last year on artificial 7lbs on a Stanley Top Toad ( Is it spring time yet??)
Biggest SMB 5.5 on a swimbait.
I had 2 PB's in 2016. My best Larry came on a black/blue Chigger-craw and the smallie came on a 4" wacky rigged Senko in baby bass.
gambler punch skirt with a Gambler Why not trailer. Black/blue. 1.25 Oz reins tungsten and Trokar 5/0 Flippin hook with a high speed Curado and IRod punch rod. This isn't my biggest, but biggest I have a picture of. My best 3 of the year all came on same bait and setup.
3/8 Jig - Black/Green. It gets my biggest LM of the year more often than not...and stuck my #1 and #2 LM of the year on the same tournament day this year . One of these was 6-1 and the other was in the upper 5 range (didn't weigh the second one).
Coincidentally, my biggest smallie of the year was also on the same jig, but it was only in the 3 lb class...It's usually a little better and on something different, but oh well...No complaints .
4.5 lb largemouth on a strike king banshee (DSG house version) buzzbait in "chartreuse belly craw."
Interestingly, the same bait I caught my top bass of 2015 on, and I throw a wide assortment of baits for a bank fisherman.
Just have to add in an honorable mention for my 8 year-old boy's best bass:
4.25 lb on a T-rigged YUM mighty bug retrieved on surface like a buzzbait, with heart-stopping blowup. All I did was a little coaching -- I am probably more proud of him getting that fish than any I caught myself in 2016.

Man, that is a real BLACK Bass!
I caught several around this big.I THINK this one was the biggest. It was caught on a strike king 5 inch watermelon stick-o.Caught it on August 8 th, on a hot day. 23 inch long.
My best 2016 LM was 3lb6oz my avatar pic caught on a 5" senko. I also caught my personal best smallie at the exact same 3lb6oz weight on a 4" senko. Blue/black for the smallie I don't recall the color for the largemouth.
5" Yum Dinger wacky rigged. Got a 6-8 and five or so casts later nailed a 5-1.
a 7" savage gear 3d trout caught me a nice 5.6 during the pre-spawn when the water was just about 60o

Nice fish, man! Notany largemouth that big around me, just big smallmouth.
Yeah, they get real dark as the season progresses! This one is nearly black haha
Rapala Skitter Walk on a cold, foggy September morning.
Rage Blade (white skirt)/ Rage Structure Bug (white) trailer.
No pics, but during the early spring I was "testing" my new ulterra trolling motor, utilized the spot lock , (awesome option by the way) and while using a rapala perch patterned x-rap, I targeted females moving up towards a spawing area. I was catching them off a submerged stonewall in about 15 to 20 feet of water anywhere from 4 to maybe 5 1/2 pounds (probably ten of them). Three old ladies enjoying a nearby shaded back porch kept yellin out to me, and they had fun at it..."Thats a good one!",... 'Wow!, another one",.. "You got the magic bait mister!",... and finally,.."Come pick me up ,..I wanna catch some too" (she was kidding).... Sadly,.. I only got to fish 6 times last year and this was the "most" successful day I had of them. There was another good day up on Winnipesaukee with my daughter, with some decent 3 to 4+ pound smallies and the biggest being her first smallie ever, but nothing to compare to my "spawning highway" day
Keitech Crazy Flapper on a finesse Owner Ultrahead!
5lb 11oz on a 130 perch whopper plopper.
11.12 lbs on this very 8" Hudd
1/2 seibert jig- bamabug color. Yum craw for trailer
She was 8lbs 12oz
White skirted Zman Chatterbait with a White Ice Zoom paddle tail trailer.
Just over 8lbs dropshoting an MMIII
Super spook jr.
First post here, I've been reading up for a long time and trying to absorb as much knowledge as possible.
Anyways, my biggest bass came while fishing a Musky tournament on big Whopper Plopper 190. Unsure of length/weight, but it was by far my biggest of the year.
I caught a 7 lber on a dirty jigs swim jig in citrus shad with a reaction innovations skinny dipper in pearl trailer.
8.64 largemouth on a strike king 6xd and a 5.2lb smallie on a lucky craft jerk bait
3" Solid Black Senko at Dale Hollow Lake in November in less than two ft of water in heavy grass and 6#test line. It was a fight......lol
I caught my best 2 fish ever this year within 10 minutes of eachother on a yumbrella flash mob junior. Didn't get weights but got length and girth and used the estimator on here and it said 5.2 and 4.6.
4 pounder on a green pumpkin humpin toad on a 3/0 bps ewg hook
Bass Assassin Tapout on a shakey head
Baby 1 minus, about 8 1/2 lbs. Funny part is everything else I've caught there has been like 10-12"
Biggest fish of the year was a 9.7lb (fish on the right in profile pic). Fish came off a a rock that came up to 4ft from 8ft on a Spro Rock Crawler Crank. Btw, the fish I'm holding up with it came off the same bait as well.

Does that happen a lot that you catch big bass while musky fishing? It seems like the same type baits, just bigger.

That's one big fish! How have you liked the Spro Rckcrawler? I really like the look of it. Does it come through rocks well? I don't really fish a lot of deeper water, so the 11' depth kind of scares me. I canoe fish shallower rivers mainly.

Not usually, but on this particular trip we caught 4 big bass on musky baits. We caught 2 on a big, ugly Suick, and another on a big walking bait. It was odd how 3-4lbs fish we hammering baits that were over 6 inches.

Not odd at all swim baits have been catching 3 and 4 lbrs forever. I have caught a 6 inch bass on a 9 inch ms slammer in michigan. Out here in arizona a Deps 250 10 inch swim bait will catch 4 lbrs all the time. Same as back home in michigan. Even better in michigan cuz bass dont see those baits often. Nothing like catching giant bass on swim baits especially up north where people say they won't hit baits like that.
Popped a pair of 6 pound pluses on a black blue pit boss!

Hm, that's definitely something for me to look into in the future. But for now, I'm going to keep telling myself that it is odd, because the last thing my wallet needs if for me to get hooked on throwing big swim baits...

haha they definitely take a hit on the wallet. but i recently over about a year ago started to just target big fish and throw swim baits. So instead of buying all the conventional stuff constantly just have 10 or so nice swim baits to throw. Unless i break one off mid cast or pike takes it lol then that would be an expensive problem,. But that hasn't happened yet.

The biggest problem is that they would get absolutely destroyed by pike up here, I'd have to almost exclusively fish hard swim baits.
7lb 1oz on a green pumpkin senko
20" smallie on the Ned Rig. I was lucky this year to have caught a bunch of nice river smallies, but this one took the cake. Didn't get a weight but I'd guess about 4#.

Great river smallie! And beautiful rod too! How do you like the Elite? I've been dreaming about one since they came out last season.

They do come through rock well, and that extra bit of depth over the Wiggle Wart makes them a great 8-11ft crank and they come in at a 1/2oz. They are now part of my crankbait arsenal.
@WI_Angler1989 It's sweet rod and handles very well for being a Light power. Hopefully can get some trout on it this winter.
Black and blue senko
@smr913, is it super sensitive? I have a Legend Tournament Bass that use for most finesse baits. I fish bottom contact lures for river smallies a LOT, and am looking into an Elite this offseason.
Good luck finding some trout this winter!
5.2 largemouth / live target frog 2 5/8 emerald-Brown / AEP
@WI_Angler1989 Yes, it is very sensitive and light weight. The combo is only 8 ounce. I am still playing around with line, but have liked using 10/2 power pro. A ML would probably have been more practical, but I've always been drawn toward to light rod.
@smr913, wow that's a light combo! I could fish that all day without any fatigue. I like that line setup too. I went with 15# super slick power pro and a fluoro leader.
My Legend Tournament is a ML and perfect for my needs. But if you like those light rods, then who's to stop ya!
Smash-Tech Convict in Olive Shad, 8 lbs 6 oz. Had a great year on Fork as did a lot of anglers after all of the rain East Texas got. Not as many DD's as years past but the numbers of slot fish in the 5-6 lb range were fantastic. In a couple of years, this old lady might be back.
4-pounder. Silver blue back Rat L Trap.
Rage Space Monkey, can't remember which color. 1/4oz jig rig in about 18" of water.
Smallie was on a Keitech Custom Leech in Ice Fish.
Sadly, due to work i didn't get out nearly as much as I would've liked to in 2016. Heck my biggest wasn't even caught out of the boat! It was on the way home from work at a pond near my house. Caught it on a live target 6" golden shiner swimbait. I usually get at least one over 10lb a year..... Maybe 2017 will be better.

Surprisingly I've only had 2 pike attack a swim bait in michigan. I caught one and the other hit at the boat and missed it. But with jigs and other baits i get cut off at least 5 times an outing in our lakes. But i only spend 30 days a year in michigan while on leave and 25 on the water. So I'm sure those numbers would go up lol.
Rage Bug
5lb Largemouth on a Black Berkley Power Worm
5lb Smallmouth on a green pumpkin trd

Ya'll catch some nice smallies. I think I need to make a New Year's resolution to chase them more this year.
1/2 oz Saphire blue fish-scale homemade chatter bait.
Kustom Kicker Jigs 1/2oz Dock Monkey in pumpkin/watermelon with a Zoom green pumpkin chunk
On a 5/16 oz Santone finesse jig. Really kicking myself for forgetting my scale on that day but I'd guess she's about a 10. Could be wrong though.
One of those greenies just topped the 6lb mark. Got him on a 3/4 oz jig with a 4in chiggercraw trailer.
The smallmouth was caught my last trip (Thanksgiving day) of 2016. 6 lbs 2 oz on a 3.5in coffee tube.
Best LMB, 3/8oz white/chart chatterbait. I wasn't even trying to "fish" it, just practicing casting with a baitcaster and she hit it like 3 feet out from the dock. I didn't even set the hook, was just reeling in and thought I got snagged on the rocks, until the rock pulled back. Every other fish I have gotten from this spot has been maybe in the 12-14" class at best.
Best SMB, Keitech Shad Impact on a 1/8oz Draggin Head. Not a huge fish, but my first large one on my BFS combo and I caught it right as a huge group of rafters was passing by, so I go some applause for her.

Awesome! So when are we goingoing then?!
Biggest LMB 19 inches, biggest SMB 20 1/4 inches. Got the smallmouth on Mille Lacs in early June pre-spawn. Caught the LMB on a bass oreno jerkbait in the pouring rain and the smallmouth on a green pumpkin tube.

Spring is the best time. They are shallow but the weather is hit or miss. 5-6 foot of water you don't have to go far from shore.

Metro Detroit area about 30 minutes from St Clair and about an hour to Lk Erie.
hmmm...lets see if I can remember now.
My biggest LM was caught on a old Bulldog 1/2 oz blk/blu jig w/Producto Crawdad in junebug/blue glitter claw. Didn't weigh and no pictures but pretty sure it wouldn't have hit the 5lb mark, probably 4 1/2. She come off jet ski lift on the side of a dock. I probably caught 5 or 6 others about same size but remember this one best for some reason.
My biggest SM was caught on a Prowler 4" Big Butt tube in junebug. Again no pictures, didn't weigh it but I know she wasn't much over 4... if she hit that even. Hard bottom flat, inside weedline 5-6 ft of water.
As usual, wasn't my year for big bites but had a lot of fun anyway!

7-2, Bass pro exclusive chatterbait in a bluegill pattern.
The biggest I caught last year was a little over 7lbs using a Siebert's Outdoor fogy in summer craw with a lime purple passion pit boss rigged vertical. Got the idea from @Bluebasser86 and it sure has produced.
I caught a 5lb on a strike King 1/2oz black and blue spinnerbait with a kvd caffeine shad in green pumpkin as my trailer.
home made jig..... and it felt so good!!!
Texas rigged Strike King Shim-E-Stick in Smokey Shad.
Not sure of the weight but she was around 21 inches long.
8.27#'s out of local pond in my sub-division using culprit 7.5" red shad curly tail worm sorry no picture definitely was not expecting to catch that fish there.
