What's your favorite soft plastics? I usually use a light green 6" zoom worm, Texas rigged. I've been trying tube baits for smallish lately and I'm really starting to like them!!
Whichever one is getting bit. If I had a favorite it would be RI sweet beaver in gp.
As long as they catch bass I like all of them.
I'm still hooked on Senko's.
Too many to mention but here are a few.
1. Reaction Innovations sweet and smallie beaver. (black/red, fried watermelon, black light, houdini)
2. Reaction Innovations skinny dipper. (bull frog, houdini, and bad shad green)
3. Zoom, dead ringers(red/shad, black, watermelon) finesse and magmun finesse(black, houdini, and redbug)
Danny Joe Humphries original floating worm(red/shad, catalpa, and white)
Rage Craw, Havoc Pit Boss, Zoom Trick Worm, Zoom Ol' Monster, Zoom Baby Brush Hog, Zman Diesel MinnowZ, Netbait B bug. There's seriously way too many that I like to narrow it down much.
As mentioned - the choices are almost endless and on any given day several can be anyone's favorite.
But to narrow it down, for me - the versatility and ability to consistent get bit makes the SK Rage Craw / Lobster a real fan favorite. A 10 inch Black Berkley Power Worm comes in at a close second.
My wife will tell you that if she absolutely HAD to catch a bass - she'd be throwing a 4 inch *** Trick Stick in the unusual but seriously effective Phantom color. And I'd be reaching for the net - again.
A-Jay
Have any of you used the Berkeley 4" baby bass? I have it in my tackle box and Ive been wanting to try it out for a while
Favorite? A ringed Curly tail worm made by a small maker here in Missouri. I probably have more Havoc Pit Boss than anything, though. Great baits, work well and are cheap. Got a ton of senko's, too.
GYCB Fat Ika.
I like almost all soft plastics and often just use whatever tickles my fancy .The two that I have caught the most on are Mann's 6 inch Jelly worms and the old BPS Squirmin Lizard. The old Squimin Lizard I like to use when bites are light because it is shiny and smooth and shows teeth marks well . The Guido bug is another one that shows teeth marks well .
berkley powerbait worm
zoom lizard
culprit original worms
I HATE SOFT PLASTICS !
But, if I have to fish with a soft plastic you´ll see me fishing a Zoom Trickworm most of the times.
Anything roboworm. They've quickly become one of my favorites. Followed by 3 and 4 inch swim and regular senkos and fluke Jr's. Lake fork baby shads on a small ball jig are also always on hand.
1.Stanley Ribbits
2.PowerWorms
3.Senkos
4.Baby Brush hog
I've been using Zoom Magnum Speed Worms lately. So versatile. I usually fish them weightless either on top or just let them sink.
Zoom Magnum Trick Worms (8") in Dark Green T-Rigged on offset BPS hooks is a killer
-Senkos.
-Regular old grubs on a plain jig head.
-Creme Scoundrel and Angle worms (rigged by me, rather than pre-rigged).
-Tubes that I stuff so they float as topwaters (a new favorite of mine). I guess the smallmouth think some type of "freshwater squid" is struggling on the surface
Really though there are just so many soft plastics that work...and almost infinite ways to rig and fish them successfully.
Case plastics buzzin frog. Gotta love it because it'll float a 5/0 ewg.
I like Zoom Magnum Trick Worms/Black on a stand up jig head
I like Culprit/Zoom 10-12 in. worms texas rig or wieght less
I might throw a Horny Toad over shallow grass if bass are aggresive.
Yum christie critter!
Number one for me is a tube, super versatile bait. Hop it on the bottom to imitate craws or swim it to imitate baitfish.
Second is a 5" Kalins grub. They have a super soft tail that moves at very slow retrieve speeds.
The rest I will use whatever is working, worms, craws, etc and when that stops I rig up numbers 1 and 2.
Curious that I didn't see the hot rig on the boards mentioned yet?
Cut R
Sweet Beaver
Skinny Dipper
If we're talking worms it would be a black Mann curly tail. I've been throwing them since 1983.
I've caught many Lunkers with them.
Culprit would be second place finisher.
Texas rigged with a True Turn hook and a sliding bullet weight.
I usually keep coming back to the original 5" Senko. I also like the Fat Ikas and Sweet Beavers.
Right now it's the Havoc Pit Boss. Ask me again later and it'll probably be something else.
I have two. the zoom ol monster and the horny toad.
Strike King Smokin' Rooster.
I've caught a lot of bass in ponds this year on Yum Wooly Bullee and Yum Dingers, but I have no idea how they'd perform someplace that gets fished more often. I like the 6" Yum dingers the best b/c I can cast them a mile and can also do a lot of different things with them.
Rage Craw, Keitech Swing Impact Fat 4.8, GYCB Fat Ika, Havoc Pit Boss,
Hard to choose, but for versatility I would say a pit boss. For catching numbers of bass in clear or lightly stained water it's a senko.
If i had to choose one bait it would be a 6" straight tail worm. Honorable mention to lizards and creature baits though. Variations of purple, green, and black are the colors I fish the most.
Senko or a d bomb
Toss up between Gene Larew Ring Tube and a Dbomb/Beaver
1) senko
2) havoc pit boss
3) fat ika
4) super fluke
Rage craw...so many rigging options.
Fluke
My dad and I went to a fairly heavily fished lake today and I got the biggest bass I've ever caught on a white 5" Yum dinger. I have a pack of Yamamotos coming in a trade, so I'm interested in using them. But honestly I just don't see how there is going to be any $5 worth of difference between Yamamotos and the packs of Yums I've been grabbing in discount bins for $2.
The Banjo Minnow! Or the Walking Worm? Their kinda at a tie for...................................................................................................................... The biggest gimmik ever.
Yum Dinger 5 inch. It seems to catch fish when nothing else will.
Come on, this is a loaded question. I fish so many soft plastics. Arkie twin-tailed skirted grub, senko type bait (senkos are too dang expensive), zoom super chunk, fluke and about 100 other soft plastic baits. I got them all baby....and that's not even including the drop shot plastics.
1. Culprit 10" ribbon tail worm
2. Zoom baby brush hog
3. SK Rage Craw
4. SK baby Rage Craw
5" YCB Senko
95% of my soft plastic fishing is done with Culprit, Zoom, YCB and Rage Tail.
The other 5% is Z-Man and Robo.
If I had to pick a favorite producer it's the Mann's Jelly worm color Grape and Black Grape.
If it's just what I like the list is endless. Lately it's been Zoom U Tale motor oil / chartreuse tail.
Yum Ribbontail worm tequila sunrise is a close second.
And last a Havoc Pit Boss in several colors PB&J, Big Texan, and Green colors in general.
-Zoom Trick Worm. Thing is awesome.
-Rage Craw. Best craw ever.
-Zoom Brush Hog.
-Zoom Super Fluke
-ZMan TRD
