I'm getting a real sweet deal on rapala lures so i was wondering what everyones favorites were??? Lure, size, color.... Thanks in advance.
the DT series , the deeper diving ones ( DT10-DT20 ) . i like the more realistic color lures like the bluegill color, shad color , craw colored ones , etc...
X2 and add the DT-6
hey get some X-raps. XR-06 and 08 have caught me some nice bass.
original floater and shad rap.

^X2.
Silver w/black back and bluegill colors work for me.
Sizes 11 and 13 for the Original Floater and the 3/8 oz. Shad Rap.

They've already been mentioned but I agree that the DT series cranks, original floating model, X rap & Shad raps would be great additions to anyones arsenal. I've also been hearing good things about the DT Fat shallow runners but it's a bait that I haven't got around to using yet, maybe I'll try it next season.
DT series.
DT Series.
My favorite thing about Rapala is their natural finishes like the Bluegill and Baby Bass baits. The DT cranks are all I really use and I don't use them much. I also like the shad-raps.

skitter prop. best prop bait on the market. especially after it receives a custom paint job by dsaaavedra.
The discontinued Down Deep Rattlin Fat Rap 5 & 7 in Natural Shad. I'm down to my last 6 and I sure wish I could find more of them.
Shad Rap
My very favorite rapala for deep applications for smallmouth is a deep tail dancer TDD09 dives to 20 feet. Best colors for me are clown on cloudy & sunny days & perch on sunny days. I caught my biggest smallie on them. Best shallow application is the original floating rapala in F11 or F13 size pick a color.
Another i use but for Lake Michigan shore salmon
Is the j-13 fire tiger
shad rap.
around here in my home lakes sr-7.s---best
but use #6---7---8---#6 when there hitting short &7all the time and 8 when large mouth are hitting good.
DT is my favorite.
like them all though.
Huskey Jerk, H-J 12 or 14. Oh yeah, I forgot the best top water lure on the market, IMO, the skitter walk in bluegill.
X raps are not bad. does anyone ever use the rapala sub walk?
shad rap(shad color)
huskey jerk(shad color)
xraps
Another vote for the DT series. Also the Xrap, and Ratlin' Rapala.
Shad Rap in Yellow Perch.
If i need to decide to choose only one rapala for fish in brackish water or bass I 'll do with a silver count down 11 or shad, shad rap 9.
David
Jointed floating Rapalas are #1 with me.
Jointed shad raps in shad color or parrot.-Use it like a jerkbait and crankbait mixed
The dt "flat" series.- Crash this over submerged humps and watch what happens
X-rap #10 in gold,silver,white ghost
Around here, Shad-rap or x-rap shad color (silver/black). Optimal depth most time of the year for these is 7'-10'. There are some coves here will these will pick up fish year round guaranteed. I also keep a shallow runner 3'-5' around for shallower coves in the late fall early winter. I have come behind a guy working a hole for 45 min without a bite and caught one in < 5 minutes.
Course Wylie has a HUGE shad population, so it is what the fish are looking for.
DT6 in bluegill pattern.
3" minnow - white blue back
so... to summerize-
dt's, xraps, original floaters, husky jerks, skitter walks, skitter pops, skitter props and shad raps... all sizes... most colors....
cant go wrong with a rapala... get em all! lol.
(p.s.- yes i use the sub walks occasionally, though mostly for redfish. theyre great for shallow water subtlety.)
Thanks everyone for your answers. I made my choices and baught about 50 items from rapala, vmc, and storm. I will post pictures when i get everything.
I've had great luck with the Skitterpop in the evening/night. Other than that the basic, floating Rapala
in about 3 1/2 inches has been a standby and I use it about half the time I'm fishing.
I've never met a Shad Rap I didn't like. Sizes #5 & #7.
I've been catching ALOT of fish with them for the last twenty-five years. Then X-Raps, DT Series, and Skitter Pops.

I like the dt series 6,10,4 in baby bass and shad. I also like the rattlin rapala lipless bait in silver/blue as it has a really tight wobble and is very affordable.
Went to the fishing expo in Raleigh this weekend and attended one of the seminars with David Fritts. He talked about how he uses a crankbait and said his favorite was the DT6. Even stated his favorite color was a cream body with a dark top.
There was a vendor selling all Rapalas for $5 each but they didn't have the color combo that DF mentioned. I got some anyway, couldn't resist.
DT's and xraps
DT-6 Baby Bass and Bluegill color
Take an original floating #11 and wRAP some soldering wire around the treble hook shank.
this makes it suspend in about 3 ft. Killer!
