I'm looking to see if there is enough interest for me to offer a swing jig. If I do this I'd offer it with an Owner hook. I'm thinking the All purpose plastic hook.
Weights would be
1/4 4/0
3/8 4/0
1/2 5/0
Maybe 3/4 5/0
So post up guys if this is something worth me perusing more!!
I've seen some people recently saying that they wish they could find some in lighter weights. Maybe a 3/16 with 3/0 hook or even an 1/8 with 2/0.
So smaller sizes also like:
1/8 3/16 1/4 5/16 3/8 7/16 1/2 5/8 3/4 1 1.25
I read this like fifty times and kept thinking "what is he talking about he already sells swim jigs!"
Then I finally read swing correctly, I think it would be cool. I'd definitely look into trying some out!
Spent last weekend with Biffle swinging a Rage Structure Bug. Absolutely loved it. The way it came through cover and the action imparted were best thing I threw all weekend. I'm definitely getting more
I would definitely try a bunch of them. I've never fished one.
Tight lines,
Bob
Personally I'd prefer just the head without hook so I can put split rings and my own hook on it. I'd buy a ton in the 1/4 to 3/4 range.
What would be super is if you found a way to add a skirt.
Interested in the smaller sizes also...How about the swing jig with removable/replaceable hook?
And would the line tie be horizontal or vertical? Just asking.
can you make one with a snap so hooks can be swapped out like on the mustad fastach swing head

This ^^^^^^^ figure out how to make one that you can easily attach a skirt to if desired.
Great idea, especially a couple smaller sizes like 1/8th and 3/16ths. They would be killer for rivers and spots with current.
I got off my phone, grabbed my computer, and logged in just to tell you yes.
Swing jigs would be great! Personally I would use 1/2 & 3/4oz footballs, 1/4 & 3/8oz with 3/0 if offered with your brush head but they would have to be super line hooks
7/16 and 9/16 have been my go to sizes. I rarely hang up a bait but they usually get discarded because of a bent or broken hook. Different hook options other than an EWG would be nice as well.
I'd be a buyer. I love the skirt idea as well.
Brush heads would be okay. But football heads are more useful with swing heads as they don't tip over and deflect off cover. I haven't had a problem with snags when pitching to wood with football heads.
I prefer football heads and heavier weights, 1/2 oz & 3/4 oz.
I'm not a big swing jig user. My buddy used to make his own, but they had a collar that held a skirt. He's passed on, so I'm not sure where the he got the heads or how they were molded. They had a pyramid, "wedge shape" head.
I'll be honest, there's a ton of good ones out there in heavy, football head configurations. Maybe a lighter, light wire hook, as a shaky head change up is a good idea. I'd try that. Something in the 1/16 to 1/4 range. No one would buy it though, lol.

Wouldn't this be where a jika rig would be a better option?
Not for dragging on the bottom. A jika rig is for penetrating weeds.
Mike, I would be interested in some swing jigs in the lighter weights like those discussed in earlier posts--also like the idea of having replaceable hooks so you can change sizes to match your fishing conditions and lures
Mike-
Wouldn't a plastic hook break on the hookset?
Barlow's now carries a swinging jighead with a collar. You add your own skirt and hook.
Lighter weights w/ easy hook change out sounds sweet, of course adding a skirt would be nice, but not necessary, but nice!
I have never heard of this setup, cool!
Looks like an ideal way to fish a fluke on the bottom. (Regardless of what they were intended for)
I'll have to experiment with these
Well, Give me about a week or a little more and I'll have both types available!! The skirted jigs will have sizes 1/4-1 oz. The non skirted will have more sizes.
Cool, looking forward to them.

Thanks, I am going to check those out.
I answered on Facebook, but for good measure: Bullet head with EWG!
yes!!!
Interested, lighter sizes, as well.
Mike - I would start with the new football head shape you are developing but with added swing jig eyelet on the back .
Next , add a split ring and a 4/0 Owner hook in weight sizes from 3/8th oz to 3/4 oz. For colors I believe your Green Pumpkin themes , Orange / Brown and Black / Blue combos would cover the majority of useage for this bottom dragging technique.

Might want to at least consider throwing white in as a color choice as well. Plenty of guys using this technique with "shad" style baits too.

I'm planning on offering the skirted swing jig in all the jig colors I have and the non skirted in all the head colors I have. Thats the plan as of right now.
Can't wait to see them. I'll be looking for some lighter sizes.
I think the swing jig is going to be one of the next big things in the terminal tackle portion of the industry, Kind of similar to how the stand up shaky head jigs have been. I notice that the guys on ebay who make and sell them (They never look like good quality so I am afraid of using custom tackle from Ebay) but I can see alot of people are buying them.
I don't think most casual anglers or even serious anglers are aware this product exists, and once you fish the swing football jig on a hard bottom it is kind of hard to not like it. I like to tie the Rapala knot to give lures and jig heads extra swing at times for finesse fishing, but now that Gambler has the wrecking Ball, and Rage has the Structure swing jig, I see this product taking off especially for people who flip and get tired of losing fish due to a pegged weight and having to keep adjusting the bait etc....I started using the Freedom Jighead which are only available at Kmart and yes, I said Kmart, but for $5.99 they have 2 1/8, or 1/4 3/0 bullet shaped swing jigs that are awesome. Fish have a harder time throwing the hook, you get extra action, and you can change out hooks if you need to...
It would be great to have a place to order them in different weights and hooks as I love them since it makes rigging so much easier, and gives a swimbait, worm, or any creature bait a more natural falling action, and it also allows the bait to swing freely and not lay on its side if it falls the wrong way. I have not seen them in stores except in Saltwater Section of Dicks and they are in a 2 pack, small hooks (1/0-2/0) 1/8,3/16 but I have been using them with swim senkos and soft craws as much as possible and the football jigs are a no brainer in my opinion for hard bottoms. I know some companies made them with eyes and all that, but I would love to get some heavier sizes up to an ounce, and I think they would be a hit as pegging a 1 ounce weight and then making sure you leave enough room for hooksets is not bulletproof, I feel it is a more efficient way to go weedless over a standard jighead because even with a slider bullet jighead, it is not easy to keep the bait straight, it always curls up on the shank, and I am not a fan of the shape that Gambler uses personally, I am looking to order some on my TW order in new shapes. People who use the Jig Rig by owner really like it, I have a hard time getting used to how it looks, but I see why they end up using it exclusively, a Tungsten small 1/2 bullet shaped or casting jig/swim jig shaped swings would be a really good item. I actually looked for them a few times on the Siebert site hoping to see them because I wan't to start using them alot more than standard weight, bead, snell, hook-too much to go wrong especially when it can take hours to get a strike some days and this jig keeps em on and they will not spit it like a huge bullet sinker slidiing...Just my .25 cents...I kind of like them you could say, I always have liked weedless jigheads over light pegged weights, especially a nice snug fit....
be cool to have a swing jig interchangeable like the Lindy jig head system where you can adjust weight and color of the jighead without retying, just snaps in, but that would be tough to do with different shapes..I am on board for one for penetrating mats, or shape of a swim jig, casting jig style....I will be on board for sure... I like everyones idea of changing hooks which would be great, hope they work out for everyone.
I'm not sure which hooks you may be leaning toward using but I've really had great luck with a variety of Owner Twistlock hooks. I've tried the Beast, regular Twistlock w/ CPS, and the Zo wire flipping hooks. All have worked great and you can decide which hook matches your particular bait choice on a given day. Personally my bite to land ratio really improved when I started using these hooks, I was having trouble with my plastic sliding down the shank and "balling up" causing me to not be able to get the barb in the fish. The Twistlock hooks almost totally eliminate this problem for me.
I know you're (Siebert) a fan of Owner hooks as well so I just thought I'd throw this out there and see if you might think it would be worth trying. I'm using Owner hyper wire rings as well.
I've been using an Owner Twistlock XXX on mine, either a 3/0 or 5/0 depending on the size trailer I'm wanting to use. The nice thing is you can switch out hook sizes since there's a split ring on them.
tungsten would be nice too. Like the skirt idea as well and the lighter sizes with interchangable hook system.
Any updates?
Yes sir!! I have all the parts for them now. I will be adding them this weekend. I will have an owner and a gamakatsu option.

LOL,
The Sway jigs are up and ready to go. http://siebertoutdoors.com/Sway-Jig_c31.htm.
I have added a Sway Jig in a hooked version and one with a skirt. I will be updating the description soon with more info. Both have options between a Gamakatsu Widegap hook or an Owner Rig n Hook.
Awesome....just placed my order!
Those look tasty!
They only come in football?

Mine were in the mail waiting for me when I got home last night. They look great. Can't wait to try em out.
There has been a lot of talk on the Forum about the Swing Jig.
I'm looking forwar to giving them a try!
