If you had 10$ to spend, what would you recommend for a topwater? I have none, and would like to get my aresenal started. Also do you know if Wal-Mart carries the yamamoto Kreatures?
Two Clear Super Spook Jrs.

Did some reading on it and all it had was good reviews. Def keep an eye out for it. I liked the look of "black shiner", I guess the clear is that good though?
Any other suggestions?
berkley frenzy popper (feathered hooks) and a good buzzbait
Spittin' Image.
Cavitron Buzzbait or a Spook
Can't lose with either
Check ***.com for the Optimum Popping Furbit. I have 2 of them & I really think this will be a great lure in the next month.
I've been looking for a weedless popper that was heavy, this fits the bill. It's 5/8 oz & cast great.
Kinami popper.

my first pick would always be a spook i mean for most fishing ... id get 2or3 of the sway-back spooks ... they seem big but the bass just hammer them ...
ohh if you get a spook add a big o-ring to the line tie ,,, then tie your line to the o-ring ... you will get easy action this way .. i also picked the sway backs cause they walk the dog easy
Original Floating Rapala F7 size in silver or gold. For another $1 or 2 you can get two of them. They are easy to fish and are very productive.

JITTERBUG !!!!!!!!!
Yup, THAT loud.
White super spook, it has spanned the test of time and it never quits working.
Thanks for all the replies.
Not sure which ones to choose. But looks like the spook is a definite.
The only store I have locally is Wal-Mart. So if they dont have any of them, I'll order a couple off the net.
QuoteJITTERBUG !!!!!!!!!Yup, THAT loud.
That cry just got twice as loud.
a super spook in Oakie shad and a buzzbait in char. and white.
I'd get a Original Scumfrog, which is a hollow bodied frog. And With the money left over a Pop-r or any Pop-r look alike for that matter thats made by a "known" company.

JITTERBUG x3 and my local walmart carries senkos but no Kreatures.
I picked up the super spook Jr ( in what I would consider white ) and the F7 rapala ( in silver ). Do you guys leave the small treble hooks on them, or switch them out? That is all that Wal-Mart had.
Also got the Strike King Jr buzzbait.
My choice would be the Reaction Innovation Vixen. It's alot like a spook but I think it's actually alot louder. I seem to walk the dog easier with the vixen as well. It might be a little higher than $10 though so if you want to stay lower than 10 bucks I'd go with the spook too.
This may sound like a dumb question, but what is a spook?
I've never heard of it.

Here ya go J. M. Richardson:

It is a walking bait. Made by Heddon
The Vixen is a better bait but much more than $10.00
Jitterbug, scumfrog, or hula popper. I would go with all three
A jitterbug and a devil's horse
I went out to the pond and tried out the super spook jr and the rapala. d**n that spook is big, but since this is my first time ever actually trying to use a topwater correctly, it seemed not to do what I expected. It had a "Z" motion to it.
First impression, might be a while before I catch one on this. But when I do, my guess is its gonna be a big one!
The Rapala on the other hand, did as I thought it would and looked like it was just a matter of time before a bass hit it.
First impression, I really like this one. Cant wait to get it out to some of the other ponds in the area.
The buzzbait does exactly what it says, d**n that thing just screams.
This is a great thread I believe and before I go out and get something next time, I will definetely come back here and try to get some more of what you guys have recommended.
Thanks guys and I'll keep you updated on what works for me.

Your living in Florida where big fish roam.5 lbers are very common.Believe me the spook jr is not too big.I have been amazed on numerous occasions at the dinks I catch on that thing are are maybe 1 inch longer than the lure : I now throw the full size super spook and still catch an occasional 1 lber on it LOL.
Bigger looking baits can be intimidating when you are beginning or when you just want numbers.Been there too. When you see so many times the kind of stuff these fish will "try"to cram down their throats those baits dont look so big anymore.
Some of my own feedback now on the the Rapala F7.
Went out about an hour before sundown and the FIRST cast with it, had a bite and reeled in a winner! Maybe 8 inches, lol. Have to be happy with that! Bout an half hour goes by and I get another one, maybe a 1/2 inch bigger.
Cant wait to get it to a lake with some bigger bass in it, as this pond has maybe been there for a year.
You defenitely have to pick up a Devil's Horse especially living in florida. You can pick some up at any Wal-Mart. Get the Silver and Orange one.
CFFF 1.5, I'll keep eyes open for it next time Im there.. Thnx

x2 its a florida standard
bagleys bang-o-lure. and a super spook in okie shad.
I'll give you a couple of ideas and a few are some old school topwaters...
1. Zara Spook- put O rings on and then attach the hooks to the o- rings to catch those that slightly miss the lure....
2. Billy Bass Lure- is also deadly as a shallow running crankbait....
3. Powerpack lure- shad and frog... is a funny looking lure- I admit, but really hammers those big bass......
4. Super Spook Jr.
5. Pop-R and the original Tiny Torpedo
However, I don't know if you can put this in the topwater category, but
Zoom flukes rigged weightless and 5" Senkos are the best in my opinion......

x2
Also a bag full of white ZOOM Fluke Jrs :
