whats everyones favorite ribbon tail worm? i find myself grabbing zoom u tails just because ive always fished them. how much of a difference is there between culprit , berkley , zoom and others?
Culprit is my usual choice (in 7.5" and 10") - they have the same action as a Zoom but seem to be more durable. Sometimes, Plan B is the Yum (7.5") - because you can often get them marked down at Lurenet.com.
Zoom U tails and Culpirt 7.5" are my staples. Zoom has a smaller profile, and they have slightly different color selections, but I haven't noticed that fish have a distinct preference for one over the other at any time.
I guess I've never really had a favorite. I've used Culprit, Zoom, Berkley and others. They all catch bass. The last couple of seasons, I've been using these: http://www.barlowsta...ntail--P67.aspx
They've worked very well, and the price is definitely right.

I use Berkley Power worms but I'm going to try others this season just to see if there's anything better. I haven't ever tried anything else.
Culprit and Deep Creek. If you've never tried any deep creek lures I would pick up a pack if you ever see them.
I've tried others, but Berkley Powerworms and Zoom U-Tails are the ones that I normally find myself going back to. Guess it's a confidence thing.
I fish a Zoom Mag II, it's a smaller 9.5" "big worm" when I want a smaller profile
I fish a 10" Gambler which is when I want a bigger profile. Its a bit more slender than the Power Worm but longer.
I have some Power Worms always somewhere in my worm bag, they always work
MAG II and Yum Ribbontails
Culprit 7.5" and 10"
Manns Augertail Worm
Culprit and Berkley. I also like the big Ragetail Anacondas.

YUP!!!
Culprit 7.5 inch and Zoom SS U-Tale
Powerbait 7" and 10" is my favorite (Sour grape, shhhhhh!)
Culprit. Love some of the colors they've come out with.
Charlies Worms 8" Swimming Worm
I started using the 7.5" Original Worm from Bitter's Bait and Tackle about 3 years ago and have been very pleased. It's a duplicate of the Culprit worm but it the plastic is more durable and holds up better. And at $2.50/pack, the price can't be beat - even with the shipping.
This link will take you to their site -

Culprit and Zoom. They still making Charlie's? Have a bag still, like them a lot too.
Zoom mag II, YUM, and Rage Andacondas. Don't fish ribbontails alot around here though, so many sunfish that like to steal the tails off my worms.
7" Powerbait and Zoom u-tail are my go to worms with the Anaconda 3rd.
Zoom u-tails....
Culprit 7.5"

Really like the Zoom Ol' Monster and the LFT 10" Worm. I fish the Berkley and Culprit 10" as well.

Wow.Here's a story
15-20 years ago I fell in love with the charlie's "chugo's" salt &pepper color
bought about 20 bags(10 in each) at k-mart when we still had one for $3.39 ea.
used them conservatively
just when I thought I was going low on supply- around 2006- I hunted the makers down with the address on the package and dialing 411
I reached them and talked to a lady said they weren't doing much of anyhing plastic wise, just selling bait
I told here how fond I was of these things and how I really caught tons of fish (1 chugo would catch from 8-10 fish before rendered useless)
she told me to hang on as she looked around a bit- she found a big plastic bag with hundreds in it-and other big bags with bulk amounts of other colors.MISSED OPPURTUNITY 1: Her offer was this: 100 chugos for 20 bucks well I didn't have a credit card at that time so I got a good address and said I would send a money order. never did.
MISSED OPPURTUNITY 2: For $150 she'd sell me a mold, since I didn't know the inner workings of plastic worm making I passed on it
I guess I didn't act on any of this because after we hung up I intensely searched my hoarded amount of plastics and found several packages and other colors as well
still have 4-5 bags somewhere
just went to the link you supplied(thanks for that)
new owners new location
now I'm really heartbroken...new price...and new amount...less
oh well thats how it goes.
I like the Kicker Fish Hightail Ribbon Tail 11" worm for a more power approch. If I want something a little more subtle then I usually go with a zoom u-tail.
Well I ended up ordering some 7.5" culprit and 4" power worms. with all the different replies I had to get both.
I go with the Zoom U - Tail, in black, green pumpkin, or watermelonseed.
Sadly, it's a bait I don't throw much any more. IDK why, it always produced. When I did use them a lot a 7.5" Red Shad Culprit and 7.5" Blue fleck Berkley power worms were usually what I used.
I haven't bought Culprits in years, got a bag the other day, they are not the same bait. They seem to be much thinner and lighter as I remembered them. Not a negative or positive comment, just an observation.
For me i have to go with the Netbait C-mac and the T-mac. I fish big worms after the spawn. I fish 10 to 15 in. C-Mac's because have alot more tail than body! And that is what I am looking for in a ribbon tail< MORE ACTION. And I have fished them all and I love the Netbait ribbons!!!!
