after years of constantly "upgrading" my rods and reels i've finally come to the point that i'm content with what i have!!!! I still look at the flea market everyday but I'm not really out buying up new stuff to try all the time!
anybody else gotten to this point?
No and when I see posts by Raul, T-rig, The_Natural,
Jimzee, Alpster and others, I feel like I'm just starting
out! Although I'm probably pretty close to what I "need",
it's not very close to what I "want". I hope Megabass
NEVER offers a warranty on their rods!

I keep telling myself I am. I never end up believing it.
Yes, only because I am starting to look for a new ride.
Me too. Glad to hear I'm not alone.
The real question is; how long will this last?
I'm not sure I'll ever reach that goal, but it sure is fun trying.
Falcon
No.
Now, I am happy with what I have, but, always looking for more. Too many nice upgrades and new "toys" but not enough $$$$.
Nope. Not here.
I accept that the equipment I currently own is "satisfactory," but I still desire other tools of the trade. On the other hand, my wife is more than satisfied (or maybe that's dissatisfied) with the amount of fishing equipment I own.

You think this guy is content ?:
You can never have "too much" tackle.
I will never probably be done.

Now we know where all the Bailout Money actually ended up!
I'm Jealous!!! :)
Never!
I have everything I want and need, except more 25+snook and 50+tarpon on light tackle and throw in a few bonefish for good measure.
I got two good legs and arms. I'm healthy and I still love to fish.
I got all I need.
Ok, maybe just a few more things.........
I think i said this last year. But then i joined a club and now i need more.

This might be closer to reality in the coming months ahead. Megabass and Daiwa have joined, might see some USDM rods headed this way across the pond. We can all hope right? :
I thought I had gotten to this point a few years back, the madness continues.

I agree with the warranty, but I also think Megabass is wanting to be more mainstream. I think we aren't far away from having megabass rods at our local retailer.
ive owned a few Megabass rods still have one, but i have to say I would NEVER again buy a Megabass rod... I used to go crazy every time Megabass came out with something (reel's from ITO i will still buy anytime something comes out) I would not buy another megabass stick i paid over 900.00 for the Megabass rod my ITO ABS spinning reel is on and other then being the only person in my club that fishes a megabass rod I wouldnt NEVER buy another one.. at one point I had 8 megabass casting rods and one spinning rod I still have the spinning rod and one casting stick (Brand new with a brand new TD-ITO on it) its only a show piece and I wouldnt even think about fishing it, and ill keep it till the right offer comes around.. I have bought up every TD-ITO thats new I can find and will sale them in a few years and make a really pretty penny off them.. im more then content with my arsenal and have more then i need.. and will only buy more as an investment.. the one thing I could never be happy with was my boat.. I bought a 2006 Blazer 210 with a yammy 300 HPDI on it because I wanted the fastest boat in the club and I had it but hated how it fished.. NOV 2008 I sold it and bought a boat thats truly made me content my Z-9... not the fastest around but im not in to having a 98-103MPH boat anymore.. I want comfort and fishes like a dream over life threating speeds..
So yeah im happy with what i got..as of now
I'm content where I'm at. What I have works good for me.
Being broke is the only true medicine.
What do you guys do for a living?
I'm not knocking anyone, but I read these forums and see people list thousands of dollars worth of gear. I do pretty well for myself and love fishing just as much as the next guy, and have a decent amount of gear. but couldn't afford a tenth of what you guys have. I must be in the wrong career or something.

I'm right with you buddy. My most expensive combo cost me maybe $120 and I've got a grand total of 7 combos to fish with. My wife would absolutely shoot me if I had any more than that.
Yeah, I, too wonder what some of ya'll do for a livin', especially Floridabassin. Old man once told me the difference between happiness and contentment: Happiness is gettin' what ya want, contentment is wanting what ya git! Lord knows I've got enough equipment and it's probably been to the point of committing idolatry, but I've come to learn that people are far more important, entertaining, and enjoyable than "things," so guess I'll go with I got!
G-Loomis Rods, IMHO none better.
As to reels, I swore by Abu Morrums until I tried the Revo. Who knows which reel will be next but as far as the rods go, like I said, G-Loomis
I have decided for the kind of fishing I do I have what I need. Some Avids and Carrot Stix matched with Revo's. Seems to work alright for me and I have 5 BC setup for different techniques even though I only take 2 at a time.

I 'm a veterinarian and businessman.
Nope, I don 't sweep the money from the floor, all you see I listed was purchased through time and through years, but it also has to do with what you earn and how you spend it, for instance, I own my house ( no mortgage payments ) so I can squeeze a few bucks every week from my earnings, I don 't drink on a regular basis, I can squeeze "beer money" from my earnings, when I purchase a vehicle I pay it in full, get a discount and don 't have to make monthly payments ( I do make "payments", the money of the payments is money I save for the next purchase ), I don 't spend much on clothing for myself, in my line of work you don 't have to dress like a dandy and so on; a few bucks saved here, a few bucks saved there and before you know it you have some extra cash..... to blow it on tackle.

Its all about priorities bro. Its just like when you see a guy who lives in a trailer driving a corvette. Some guys I know are low middle-class and yet they have $35,000+ boats filled with GLXs and $250+ reels. Its all about where your priorities are. Some people are willing to trade the nice house for the tricked out boat and expensive gear.
As far as the original post, the day I am at peace with the amount of gear I have is the day I know its time to hang up my rods. 8-)
