That new Patriarch XT is one sexy mofo.

Dom, you should set aside a jar for the money you would have spent on cigs and use it for one of the new Pfluegers or Abus...that is, unless you are too stuck on the round reels ;D
Hmm...
The XT Patriarch is listing at $50 more than a regular Patriarch. It has one less bearing and except for the handle and different drag assembly, I can't figure out where they saved 1.2 oz on it unless the standard handle is really that heavy vs. this new one.

Yea I am loving these round ABU's
I spoke with ghoti, he is going to switch out my drags and upgrade the bearings for me when the hard water sets in, one more change in the wind
going back to Fenwicks, What a long journey to end up where I started!

They also list the XT as having aluminum gears. Does the "standard" Patriarch have aluminum gears?
I am wondering if they did what She Man O did and went to Graphite side plates? I loved when She Man O did that, all the crowing about how She Man O. never would lower themselves to use Graphite on the Curados , then they did , and not a peep out of the posse :
According to Tackle Wharehouse, the sideplates are titanium-coated aluminum. They've dropped a bearing, changed handles and knobs, the drag star has changed as well.

Funny how that goes huh!?! :-X
How do these Revo threads always end up about Shimanos?
cart, I think the carbon fiber handle probably helps but also it seems as if the knobs are made of EVA. That would save a bit of weight as well.

Muddy brought it up comparing reels, NOT anyone in the Posse!
We don't do that anymore.
:
So far they have the new Revo STX, Premier, Toro Winch, Pflueger Patriarch, President, and Patriarch XT as well as some new Okuma casting reels.
I like the look of the new STX but I'm not sure about the gold drag star on the Premier. I actually like the look of the new President more than the Patriarch of the Patriarch XT. I think I'm satisfied with the deals I got on my older STX and Premier.

Oh, I am completely aware of that. The anti-Shimano posse likes to bring the comparisons up and then act like the Shimano posse always interjects their opinions. I think it must be an inferiority complex. ;D ;D ;D

Yep. Duraluminum.
I suppose they could be borrowing the lighter aluminum material their Pure fishing cousin Garcia is using on the Premier to gain some advantage. Doesn't indicate that though.
That's a possibility since they're also claiming a 20# max drag.
I can see right now that I'm going to have to start saving my nickels for a new XT.
For you guys that get one, let us know how the foam paddles feel. That's an interesting idea.

Way to fuel the ongoing Shimano/anti-Shimano battling while trying to look like you aren't. 4 stars for you, sir. :

oh please. I own all brands and have come to realize the posse crap is stupid. I'm just sick of it all being blamed on one side. Now I just take it as what it primarily is: an ongoing joke between both sides. Hence the three smilies.
Spose to be fun...
I don't know anyone that actually cares about what someone
else fishes. People are curious and many are just getting started
or need some help. A reason for some bias is the "been there,
done that" factor. Some products we just like better, but some
really do offer superior performance.
So, buy some new Revos and Pfluegers, post your initial thoughts
and observations over time. We have a lot of members very loyal
to both brands and many more that would like to consider owning
this equipment themselves.
Let's all lighten up, this stuff is not life threatening.
8-)

Did you miss my 1 smilie? Was I 2 short? my mistake.

This is an awesome quote. We're grown men explaining the difference in smiley smiles ;D (That's a happy, i think this is funny, and am not insulting anyone kind of smiley.)

well they are different for a reason: they are meant to aid in the discernment of tone through a textual medium

you cannot titanium coat a graphite sideplate so they have to be aluminum.
Kinda upset with TW. I literally asked them a week ago when they would be getting the new reels in and they said late october early november. I didn't want to wait that long so I bought the original revo premier from Fisherman's Factory Outlet for about 140 shipped..
If I knew they would have gotten these reels so fast I may have just bought my reel at TW.. They're loss.
Hopefully in 6 months the prices will drop... maybe.
