Which Pline? 2024

fishing user avatarlivemusic reply :

Which Pline do you favor? I see Pline 100% fluorocarbon, Pline CX and Pline Floroclear. I'd like to try this as a leader and also as main line, I've never used anything but mono and braid. I fish all kinds of baits but a lot of soft plastics. I have several rigs with braid or mono.

fishing user avatarCRANKENSTIEN reply :

Pline CXX 10lb is a go to line for me on my baitcasters.

fishing user avatarbigfishbk86 reply :

CXX.  8lb on spinning 10-20 on baitcasting depending on what i'm using, mostly 12 and 15 though.  Use a little KVD line and lure and you've got one of the best lines out there, strong, low stretch, and fairly sensitive.

fishing user avatarCTGalloway21 reply :

I use CX, CXX is too stiff for me, especially after a few uses.

fishing user avatarDarren. reply :

Floroclear. Never had problems with it,

though use Yo-Zuri Hybrid more these

days.

fishing user avatarjerzeeD reply :

I use cx and flouroclear. I have all spinning set ups. I would only use cxx on bait casters. It is like piano wire.

fishing user avatarIAY reply :

Pline original PF is my favorite. CXX is wayyyy too stiff, CX breaks fairly often on me, PF is perfectly nice mid ground.

fishing user avatarjerzeeD reply :

If you have breakage problems, try moving up one size thicker. The cx is very thin diameter line. I am running 12 lb test on 3 of my rods using 35 size pfluegers, and 15 lb. Cx on my frogging/bottom fishing rig which is also using a 35 size pflueger. I have no real complaints about line management either. The diameter is still thin enough to work fine.

fishing user avatardeep reply :

PF original. Thank you Bassindon.

fishing user avatarWPCfishing reply :

I've been using Floroclear 15# without issue on my bait casters. I bought 15 and 20# CX that arrived today. I'll be using both tomorrow. I'll post my review in this thread.

PS: Seaguar Invisx sucks!

fishing user avatarkingmotorboat reply :

I use cxx 12 pounds and just recently bought their 100 percent fluoro and love it in 15. I've never tried floroclear I've heard bad things and good things about it

fishing user avatarWPCfishing reply :

I used the CX today, cast well, no friction. No problem with knots, not as nearly as much stretch as Floroclear. I pitched into laid down trees most of the day. I didn't see or feel any Knicks or chafing. It coils a bit but that didn't cause any issue. I Like it and will continue to evaluate the line. I will add this, It's 100% better than Invisx.

I'm so happy it's not just me that hated invisx

fishing user avatarMontanaro reply :

Typically lines with thicker diameters (cxx) just means they underrated the break strength. Compare the line diameters to cx to see true break strength.

My 20 pound cx is similar to the 16 cxx I used to use.

I bought a 1000 yard spool... Junk all the way thru. Customer service was garbage.

fishing user avatarWPCfishing reply :

I used 15 & 20 lb test CX moss green yesterday and today. I was very impressed with the line. I'll keep using going forward.

Curious... What setup did you have it on? What were you using it for?

I had the 15 on a Lews Tounament Pro 6:4:1 and a St Croix Premier Rod. Light cranks and spinner baits.

The 20 was on a Lews Tournament Pro 7:1:1 and a Fenwick HMG  I was worming with it.

The other 20 was on a Pflueger XT 7:1:1 and a Lew Magmun One Bass I was using for jigs.

I ran the line out on all three and reeled the line back in to get a nice tight spool. I'm doing this religiously now on all of them. No line digging after doing it. It was flawless on all three rods and reels. I'm sold on it. Caught 3. Hooks sets were spot on and the line offers great feedback from the baits and it casts silky.

What do you mean by that, ran behind the boat? If so, how fast you pull?

2 mph with a single blade beetle spin.

fishing user avatarJoePhish reply :

Right now most of my reels are spooled with 8#, 10# or 12# Floroclear. I've tried it up to 20# and have been satisfied.

When I lived in FL I would use the CXX for my inshore fishing. It's a tougher line but you trade manageability for that.

I've never tried CX.

fishing user avataroffsidewing reply :

I've used Fluroclear for the past couple of seasons on spinning equipment and was pleased with it.  I've tried it along side of Invisix and the two performed the same for me.  No line management issues with either provided I spool the reel correctly.   Because so many people have suggested it, I'm giving Yo-Zuri hybrid a try this spring and like it so far.

fishing user avatardam0007 reply :

CX is flourocarbon coated??? That doesn't make any sense. Is it a mono or flourocarbon? Lol or co polymer? Does it sink?

fishing user avatarMontanaro reply :

It's copoly and it floats

So it's a mono basically

PS: Seaguar Invisx sucks!

Hate to break it to you but Pline is for people with no money, and invisx is the best fluorocarbon on the market, hands down. I've had the same 15pound line on my curadoI for a month and landed several fish over six pounds with no problem. If over all Pline is poorly made and far inferior to ANY Seguar line, especially invisx.

InvisX is literally the 2nd lowest grade line in Seagaur's lineup. Tatsu is known for its superior quality

Lol, this is why threads get locked.

I've used invizx and it's not that great, too much stretch and memory in my opinion. Sunline sniper is a better yet more expensive product.

I would say the prices aee pretty close so they are comparable. I would call them equals in terms of product lines... Shooter is more in line with a Tatsu and Super Fluorocarbon is about on par cost wise with Red label
