Whats your favorite? Mine is Abu Garcia.
The Sheriff will be along, pronto
Shimano
I checked Pflueger, WHAT ELSE However i have to be honest I am enjoying my BPS Reels just as much as my Pfluegers 8-)
From my signature line you can see what my favorites are, but I voted Shimano®
Tight Lines All!!
I voted Shimano because Daiwa was not a choice. My favorites actually are Daiwa for baitcasting and Shimano for spinning.
SHIMANO!!!! ;D
aaron
pflueger
Well, you probably need Daiwa in the poll and maybe "Other" just so everyone who wants to participate can vote for their favorite.
I'm still trying to decide. :
Im sorry I didn't put Daiwa. When I posted this I felt like I had left something out :-[
Daiwa spinning and pinnacle baitcasting. thats for bass, as for muskie I have a penn spinning reel and for trout I have a Zebco closed face reel. I have 2 Daiwas and they are my favorite because my dad gave them too me.
Shimano all the way. Abu would be my next choice. I fish nothing but Calcutta's (just because it's what I like). Mostly 100's but I do have a 50 on a little 5'11" M rod that I built a while back. It's my travel rod. It's really personal preference. I like strong, small, round reels. Calcutta fits the bill and they have a very smooth drag system.
Shimano has to be favorite but Daiwa is a close second. I have been spoiled by my Shimano Calais 201A. ;D

Ah Cumon, live on the edge! We only need ONE more Shimano vote
"Polls" don't seem to be very popular around here anymore. 10,274 members, 19 votes...
Well, 9 votes for Shimano vs. 8 for the field. My vote is included. 8-)

I was just kidding of course, but you make a good point, that never occured to me (0.18% turnout)
Roger
shimano here i love my new calais 200 ;D this reel is simply amazing
I picked abu but i like diawa too...
Hey spin as several people seem torn between 2 or 1 for spin and another for BC you can set up the choices to be more than one.
Shimano®
Daiwa for collecting, and Shimano for fishing...
There are manufacturers other than Shimano?
Well, I see the Shimano posse is out in full force ;D
I, on the other hand, enjoy an inexpensive, high quality, high performance reel much like the PFLUEGER Trion
To each their own, I guess...
Shimano's are expensive? :-?
My babies!
My little 50!
8-)
Well, here goes - Quantum - that's what I got and serves me well. Rapidly becoming a fan of Pflueger as well.
Hope to get a Shimano one day just to see for myself. Know its got to be good stuff.
QuoteShimano's are expensive? :-?
The Curado compared to the price of a Trion...yes. I find that they are similar in quality and performance.

:-?
I voted for Shimano, but I am have acquired a Daiwa Baitcaster. Only time will tell if I get more.
I also have a few Plfuegers which do not hold up in the salty to brackish water I fish ad one Quantum which may get replaced with another Symtre soon.
Big T
I voted shimano but i would like to see JAPAN shimano! ;D
Daiwa for baitcasters...
Toying with the thought of a japan daiwa exist in the 2506 model, but i have two stella 1000's fa's,one being brand new, watch out ebay!!!
QuoteShimano's are expensive? :-?
Some of us don't make huge salaries, and yes Shimano, while being excellent reels do not give those of us in the lower end the value for the buck that Pflueger,BPS and certain Cabela's reels give. I also want to put aside they don't last as long or work as well as Shimano Products. With several years experience with the Pflueger Products, as well as several of my friends The Pfluegers have very few issues and maintaince and repair is very available.

Muddy,
To that list ABU is coming out with some good looking new low profile stuff that is similar to the REVO...and you can tell I voted ABU. ;D
I voted for Daiwa spinning if only because I believe the sealed drag makes it a little better for inshore saltwater fishing as far as corrosion resistance goes. Although my primary fising is fresh, I do make a trip to the Texas coast a couple of times a year.
centx
One word, SHIMANO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Baitcasting Abu 4600C3
Spinning Shimano
Most Fun: Ultra Light Quantum my kids bought me last year, even goldfish are a fight! ;D
QuoteSome of us don't make huge salaries,
And I do?
The Citica can be had for $100 shipped from various online retailers. Show me a better deal on any reel out there.
Yea The Trions go on sale twice a year ( at least for the last 2 years) for 89 bucks delivered from Cabelas. The BPS extreme is always 79 bucks , the Cabelas Tournament zx is 70 bucks(Pinnacle) and thats just 3 reels with good reps and I find them reliable BECAUSE I PERSONALLY OWN AND USE THEM frequently. It's not the equiopment but the hands they are in 8-)
I like quite a few here have limited resources. That means by the grace of God I have a small alluminum boat with a trolling motor, more than one rod and reel and a decent amount of lues. I do not belong in the WHO HAVE HAS THE MOST TOYS WINS CLUB, because frankly i can't afford to be there. But those of us who search for the best dollar value we can find and still enjoy this sport are no less than those fellas who can buy all that top end stuff. I do not *** these fellas, some of them i am quite friendly with but i get the sense from some that they look down their noses at those of us who can't play in that league.

i would but a trion narrow spool over a citica any day.
I have all Abu baitcasters right now.
(1) 5000
(1) 5600C3
(1) 5600C4
When these wear out I'll either look at getting some Shimano reels or the Abu Revo.
i've loved all the Quantum products i've used
Abu Garcia for me.

Just get one now. If you wait 'till one of those wears out, you'll be an old man, and the only place you'll be able to find a Revo is at an antique sale.
I use Abu Garcias,Quantums, and a couple of Shimano spinning reels.I voted Abu because I have more of them(10) than the others.
shimano
abu garcia and quantum
Shimano, with quantum a close second.
My favorite for both spinning and casting is Daiwa. But I do have a few Pflueger spinning reels (Presidants) that I love, and a Quantum casting reel (Accurist) that has really surprised me, and I love to use it as well. I had some BPS Extreme casting reels, they served me well, but, I dunno, I just would rather have Daiwa.
Crankbait - Abu Garcia revo STX baitcaster, all other baitcast applications, Shimano Calcutta TE (digitals), Spincasters - Shimano..
I voted Daiwa...but I was on the fence. still have Shimano spinning reels for now,but love the precision feel of my TD-Z's for baitcasters.....
Another vote for pflueger. (Shimano people are dominating! :)
BTW, were up to 103 votes.
I have heard that there are people who don't know Daiwa's rule, but they must be
I had to vote Abu for a couple of reasons (though for spinning reels I like Shimano).
I HATE low profile baitcasters.
Almost all Abu Garcias have levelwinds that move during the cast. It's very rare in other reels. The other companies that make baitcasters this way only do so for specific sizes of baitcaster. No low profile reel does it either and it's one of the reasons I dislike them.
Good quality reels for the price that will last a lifetime if taken care of. I use them for many different species and the hold up to my smaller catfish as well (less than 30#).
Diawa (free) spinning reel primarily.
Quantum (low end) bait casting reels primarily.
ive got an okuma spinning reel, never let me down. but im getting a shimano citica soon so im gonna try that out before i vote for anything.
i only use daiwa and shimano, and i love both brands. my top 2 is my Daiwa Steez, and my Shimano MG 50
