Im looking to buy a new reel, one that is going to get casting distance of a e7 or even better
Why not try the Curado I?
Curado I Core 50 the list is endless between Shimano and Daiwa..
Yep.On 1/11/2015 at 7:13 AM, Jrob78 said:Why not try the Curado I?
Pick a reel in the 150 -200 price range and you would just about have to try to find a dud.
I know I shouldn't look at it this way, the price of $179.00 seems too cheep for a good reel
As far as the "I" ? You should celebrate...

Lol, Isn't that what the E series cost?
Chronarch e7, lol.

Interesting. I guess a "good reel" is subjective. IMO these are good reels and can be found under a 100 bucks: BPS Pro Qualifier and Citica G. They are solid work horse reels. 100 dollar price point imo is where you start seeing good quality baitcasting gear. Also, my Curado Gs casted just as well as my Es did so I'm sure the "I" would've been fine. Maybe you should've re-titled the heading...looking for a high end baitcaster that is better than Curado E and here is my budget.
I can part with my Curado 200E7.
Send me a PM if you are interested.
I'll admit the reel has a little to do with how far you can cast, but the rod, lure and bozo holding the rod have more. You don't need to spend $200 to get a reel that will cast more than far enough for just about any fishing situation.
I think the new curado I or chronarch e would meet your needs. I just picked up my first lews bb1 and it casts as far as the curados.... Given you use the same rod line and lure.
If your talking casting distance i have a 5500c3 without the levelwind that i can consistantly throw 1 oz spooks all day long 150 180 yrds on a 7 foot uglystik and 10lb braid pretty accurate also

If you need to spend a bunch of money, go JDM. Get a great reel and an empty wallet at the same time.

I use Lew's and they are good reels. If you want something to compare to your Shimano, I would go with a Lew's Team Lite or higher model. On 1/11/2015 at 9:07 AM, BIGGUNZ said:Anyone use a abu mgxtreme? Or lews

Ya they're somewhat similar.
A little TLC and TSI = 200E7 casting machine in my opinion.
It's hard to beat a 200E distance-wise, but I'm going to try. Step 1, Daiwa Zillion. Step 2, HLC spool. Totally necessary step 3: MB X4 Destruction. Hopefully I'll be putting 3/4 oz 'traps into orbit.
No one tell my girlfriend.

EDIT: I would stay away from Quantum reels and sadly the Duckett reels too.
Duckett and Lews are manufactured by Doyo, and Quantum and *** reels are manufactured by Banax.

Makes me think I need a retail operation.

Yes, I am aware of this, thanks. The truth is still that they fish way different than the other reels listed IMO. I Hate quantum because of the design and acs braking, they never seem to cast the same way twice. The duckett reels were ok but I don't know they didn't click with me. I liked everything about the *** *** and I enjoy Lew's reels very much. Having Said that I will stay a Daiwa Man.
A zebco 202 it changes shapes, colors, materials just like a curado

150-180 yards? That's pretty far...
I would say the Chronarch. It is a little smoother and personal opinion, the drag is better too but when you put in your hands it feels about the same.

I can throw them 3 1/2 miles. I mean, c'mon, if we're gonna....well, you know. If we're gonna sling it, let's sling it...lol.

The latest quantums have the same braking system as the 13s, same exact dial and everything. I personally don't like them because the the line guides pinches my thumb because it sticks out further than the front of the reel. I've also had good luck with the 13 reels, but I prefer Shimano and Daiwa as well.On 1/13/2015 at 4:13 AM, SenkoGuru said:Yes, I am aware of this, thanks. If you are looking for a reel that will outcast a Curado 200E7 there are quite a few that will out perform them in casting distance alone, but if you look at every aspect of the reels performance, it is hard in a price range under about 250 to compete with the E series. Personally the best casting(not all around) reels I own are quantum kinetics, the ACS system I love, but if you do not have a good thumb it is not the reel for you. It has a heavy spool that is deep so it has lots of line capacity and maintains its speed for a long time. I have replaced the handles(stock are way to small) and bearings(hawgtech) on all of my Kinetics (3 of them) and with a 7' glass cranking rod and 12 lb YZ hybrid and a Rapala DT-10 I can cast most of the capacity of the spool, and with a 1/2 oz lipless crank its just silly the distance you get out of it.

do they run about a hundred bucks?

I got mine for 60 off the bay... after all the upgrades its about 100-110 depending on the handle and bearings you put on it...
Mitch
you are right about yourself !! no need to spend an arm or a leg to get a quality reel.
