What would be a good match with the Pflueger President Spinning Reel under a $50 price point?
I got mine on a 7 ft bps tourney special it was fifty bucks it's a good combo
Daiwa procyon is what I have paired with my size 25 president.
I would second the suggestion to pair it with a BPS rod. I have mine on one and it's a good combo.
You will get a good deal if you stay with a BPS combo as others above have suggested ... Otherwise you should check out a Shimano Sellus series spinning rod in the application you most use.
One rod I've never seen anyone mention but always reach for when space limits me to one rod is a Diawa Crossfire.(Insert laugh track here.) It's probably the least expensive rod they make, $20 at Academy Sports. I picked up a 6'6" m/f for my girlfriend when she broke the tip on her Tournament Choice Lava combo rod and swapped the reel over. Together they make a lightweight, sensitive, perfectly balanced combo. She has since given up on fishing so now I use it when no one is looking (the reel is pink).
Get an Ethos rod on sale for $40 from Academy.

This or the All Star Classics which are on sale for $40. The Ethos is a better rod, but both are a good buy.
BPS tourney special.
I bought a Diawa Laguna for my dad on his birthday. It was on sale at Academy for $20. It's light and sensitive. Can't give you a great review on it because I've only used it twice.
The BPS Tourney Special is a decent rod in that price range.
Berkley Lightning Rod is a good one. I've got an original and a Shock model, both 6'6" Mediums. They are both great, the Shock has a little better construction. It is $60 I think. I've got a President on the Shock and an Abu Orra S on the original.
For < $50, I'm gonna recommend a BPS or Cabela's rod, though because a rod's feel is so subjective, I'd take the time to handle as many rods in your price range.
One of my favorite spinning rods is BPS's Micro-Light, in ML, which I have a President hanging from. It casts a mile with #6 mono using light baits. A friend of mine has a 2nd gen Ugly stick which I like a lot too.
Best of luck with your search....
Berkeley Lightning is said to be a good rod under 50. Cork would look a look better with the President that would EVA. The BPS Graphite series is available for $40.00 as well, and Cabelas has some rods in that price range too.
I have no idea who thought the grip design on the spinning Lightning Rod is a good idea. To me, it feels completely awful, no matter how I try to hold it. Your mileage may vary.
My Lightning Rod Shock though, feels pretty darn good in the hand.

+1 on this. The reel seat is my least favorite thing about the original Lightning Rod. The Shock is definitely worth the extra $10. Better guides too.
Does Anybody have experience with the Pflueger spinning rod that comes with the president as a combo in most big box stores?

Not sure about the rods that come in a President combo, but the one that came with my Trion combo was pretty terrible. Really whippy. But, it was only $60 for the combo.

I don't have experience with it. But usually the rods in those combos aren't very good. I agree with the others who suggested a BPS rod. I got a tourney special for $50 and I think it is a good rod for the price. It would match up with a President well, imo.
Hands down, best rod under $50 is the Berkley Lightning Shock rod. I own 3 and you can find them under $50 at any Wal Mart.
I have held the President combo spinning rods and reels and the Rod is an IM8 Graphite and feels nice especially when you figure the combo is only $25 more than just buying the reel. I like the President reel and for the extra money you can always use a decent spinning rod as a spare for that price. I recently was checking out a rod my friend purchased for I think half price for $35 and it was a Field and Stream Tech Spec blue rod and I have to say it felt really nice, and was very light, I looked it up online and it sells for $69 but I think that is still a good value but the Academy rods are sweet, and so are the Bass Pro rods. I have 3 extremes that are over 10 years old and I still use them even though they are a bit heavy, but I trust them and are good rods.
Cabelas has the ABU Veritas for $49.99 right now spinning and casting. + free Hoodie

Dude....If I had known that a month ago when I got the Vengeance.

Wow!
There are lots of inexpensive spinning rods out there, go to the store and see which one you like best.
Bring your reel with you and see how the reel fits on the different rods. If they won't let you do that, they really don't want to sell to you, go somewhere else.
I don't know anything about the Academy house brands, they get decent press, so if there is an Academy Sports near you, that's an option.
Nearly every Walmart has Lightning Rods, they are a viable option. I'm not a big fan of their handle, but if you mount the reel, tighten it down and then you can modify the handle with rod wrap tape, or that stuff that they sell to modify tennis racket handles. For that matter, most of my spinning rods, even the much higher dollar ones, I modify with the rod wrap tape after fixing the reel to the rod.
Wal Mart sells the Lightning Rod Shock everyday for $39.99..........you can't beat that. I have several casting, as well as several spinning. The spinning rods pair very nice with a 30 size Pflueger reel. I have a President on one, and a Trion on the other. I use them side by side with my more expensive Fenwicks and Abu rods, and am very comfortable and confident fishing with them, and many a nice fish (as well as other peoples tournament money LOL) have been captured by these rods.
I'd say a cabelas or bass pro rod. You probably won't find anything too impressive in that price range
I would suggest A berkley lightning rod shock great rod for the money!
