Best Knot For Braid To Fluoro Leader 2025

I've seen some videos for the Albright or Albright special knot for tying on a fluorocarbon leader.
Any suggestions or "how to" videos?

I have been using the uni to uni through knot. Its strong small and flies through the line guides with not problem. Check it out. It takes tying the knot a couple times b4 you really get the hang of it. I wont use any other knot>

Alberto is one of the more popular knots used, it's easy to tie and as strong as a bimini twist. Sometimes you have to experiment to get the right number of wraps for the diameter of lines being used, mine is usually 7 or 8 and 2.

I dont use any other knot but the double Uni... in all fairness, the Alberto kept failing me because when I was using Vanish for Fluro.
Make sure you wet the lines when you're tying the knots.

I've tied a LOT of different knots in my day and I must say that the double uni does not "flow" through the guides without resistance. It can't....it balls up each knot against one another, creating a larger ball. It "clicks" it's way through the guides. Not good for smooth casting. The alberto is not a knot....rather a type of braid that cinches the lines together like the old Chinese handcuffs we use to get in Cracker Jacks boxes as kids. It creates a long, slim joint between the two lines. Been using it for many years now. Never had a failure. And it's slim, long diameter flows quite well through the guides.

I have to agree with Crestliner. I've had a lot more practice tying the Uni Knot (use it for all my lure & hook connections), but the Alberto is a longer, slimmer knot. Still awkward for me to tie freehand. Makes a beautiful connection (and super strong) when done right.

Chalk me up as another Alberto knot user. I started with the uni to uni, but found the Alberto a lot easier to tie and remember.

i do really well with the double uni knot. Ive tied the alberto and its definitely a slimmer knot, but i have more trouble with that knot for some reason.
I can tie a double uni quickly, and it passes through the micro guides on my cumara with no problems at all.

What pound test are both your lines. Reason I ask is BC I was thinking about buy a Duckett rod with the micro guides buy was worried the knot would catch in the guides.

10lb braid, i use 6 and 8lb flouro leaders.

I was telling my step-dad (fishing buddy) about all the trials and tribulations I've been through lately trying to learn new knots to tie. Braid to fluorocarbon and fluorocarbon to the hooks.
He's one of those guys that means well, but he thinks he knows everything about everything.
Anyways, he suggests that I try a "Nail Knot". I've seen videos on tying it but it seems like it's primarily a fly fishing knot. I'm not going to try it because I don't feel like losing any of my lures.
Am I correct in assuming that this is NOT a knot I should use?

That is a real nice skinny knot .. low profile.. and I will give it a shot but I'm feelin its not going to be strong enough.
Its grip is based on the grip of the braid over a slick fluorocarbon line add in water and instinctively I'm not feelin good about this..
Plus you cut the fluoro at the end and each small slip of the fluoro under the braid loops makes the knot loose and likely to slip over the fluoro.. but will give it a shot.. maybe add in a variation.

A fine knot, but not easy to tie, IMO. I experimented with it a couple weeks back....
I pretty much tie the Albright most of the time, the Alberto/mod'd Albright with lighter diameter lines, usually 7 or 8 wraps up, 4 back down. Uni-to-uni if I don't feel like Albright.

I tied it up the other day and it holds STRONG! I posted a good size largemouth that I caught and it held solid. I have a 9-10' leader so that even if I have to change lures a bunch, I will have plenty of leader.
I will be happy to let everyone know if it ever fails, but it's actually pretty amazing.

Looking at the video of the GT knot I don't see how it's thinner than an alberto, with both knots it's basically one line over another, I'd think the total thickness is the same or very close to it. It may be in fact a very strong knot and quite useful for some of the larger pelagic species. The alberto ties in seconds, and the GT looks way more time consuming than I care to deal with. I'm not so sure how powerful the bass are that other people are catching, but the alberto seems to hold fine for the bass I catch and my snook, tarpon as well.
