Thoughts on 832 superline? 2025

Ordered a reel last night and decided I’ll go with braid. Never used braid before. Heard some good things about the 832 line. What do you guys think? Or any spiderwire braids worth the money as well? Blue Camo seems popular with SW. and miss green seems to be an all around popular color. Using with mainly spoons, Rapala, large mepps style spinners, maybe some Crankbait.

Ditto...Have reels spooled with both 6 and 10 pound test and never had issues. Been using it for half a dozen years and thousands of bass. Would buy again.

I have had the same 50lb 832 on my frog reel for three years and it is still going strong.

I have some of the 50lb of roughly the same age, its faded a ton but it's hanging in there.

It's good line, but I don't like it. I like a braid that breaks in, and flattens out a bit more. It's also noisy, which I can't stand.

I got 3 reels spooled with 50#, the reason I like it is because it's quite.

I have used Ande 4# braid in up to the surface weeds & young Lily Pads. It cuts them AND your skin easily. Weeds can require a sawing pull & relax ryhtem to cut weeds. The 4# is 2 seasons & used with surface lures. Plenty of U V still strong enough.

I have been using Sufix braids for years. I started out with the Performance braid and then tried out the 832 when it came out. It is good stuff. I use it on jig and other bottom contact bait rods on which I am not using fluorocarbon.

Or, it could just be the type of rod guides.......

It's good line, but it's bigger than Power Pro at the same strength. Both are solid lines

It's also stronger at the same stated strength. 6 lb. 832 is the same breaking strength as 10 lb. PP. Should be standards in the industry but there's not.

I had a friend show me a video he did of different braided lines rubbing against wood under water.
It changed my thoughts of some popular brands. ????

832 has become my sub 50lb goto braid. Out of the package it doesn’t seam as stiff as power pro. Nothing is as bad as fireline though that takes a bit to work in on a spinning reel.
I have found that the 30 lb 832 has been tough as nails for me with zero break offs. I tried the spiderwire flouro braid, name may be wrong but similar idea to 832, and power pro 30 lb and had a lot of random line failures. 832 on same rod and reel no issues. I do stick to 50 lb power pro for Musky and heavy bass applications.
As far as sound it might be a bit quieter than other braids, but not like mono or flouro.

Went to the store after work and apparently 40# braid is popular around here. Sold out of most brands. So I got some 50# 832. I’ll give this a whirl and see how I like it. At 12# diameter I should be able to get about 140yards on the reel I ordered. Tatula CT type R. Hopefully it makes a good combo.

UPDATE:
The new Tatula CTR showed up. Got the 50lb 832 on and I got it casting really good. No backlashes! (Yet). However is braid louder than mono when reeling in? Seems to be quite a bit louder than my Pflueger supreme with 12lb mono.

Yes, braid is louder than mono. And some braid is louder than other braid. 832 doesn't have the reputation for being really loud. jj

Seems pretty loud to me. Part of it could be the line guides too.

It’s not quiet on my reel. Quite loud actually. I read that over time it can get quieter? Also if I grab the line in front of the reel and slide it back and forth through the guide there’s a decent amount of noice. I also get noise with the mono but not as loud.

If you're hearing noise with this line & mono, something wrong with your rod!

There's a great possibility one of your guide inserts is cracked, gouged, or totally missing. This will cause noise and help you lose baits on casts and fish on hook sets...

I checked my guides and none were missing. I guess I’ll have to look closer for gouges and cracks. It’s a brand new st Croix avid x. It has those kigan micro guides. Maybe it’s just because of those? I don’t know.

Maybe so. I own several St. Croix rods and have never heard MONO passing thru the guides. But, then again, my ears have a lot of mileage on them, LOL!

I also own several st Croix rods and none make the noise of this one. I emailed st Croix so I’ll wait to see what they have to say.

832 is on the noisier side of braids. Not as bad as 20# sufix performance though thats a buzzsaw. PowerPro super slick is one of the quietest much more quiet than 832 and 20# vs 20# holds higher knot strength than 832.
