i dont own one but my buddy owns 2 and he said he loves em. theyre not as light as the endurance line but still everybit as sensitive and tough. hes been rough on em and they havent given him one issue thus far. ive used em and they do feel preetty good. imo i think people run their mouths and make assumptions a little too much before even trying something themselves as is what ive seen when it comes to these rods and other gear.

Your right. Why would people make assumptions just based on what they see on a webpage without actually handling a product? Its one thing to take a leap of faith to try something out, its another to bash something you don't know all about. In some ways I think people are more price conscience and believe that more expensive sticks are better. Maybe they are right but times are changing fast and a cheaper more affordable rod can be considered just as good as as some of the more expensive ones depending on who you ask. Do you think they match the Max series in performance and durability though?

yup, your exactly right. these days theres high quality materials to be used at a fraction of the price and the way things are now, lack of jobs, cash, ect, people wanna spend money, they just dont have 250-400 to spend on a rod. powell is a trusted, proven name in rods and doubt very much theyd attempt to ruin their reputation by putting out a junk product. to answer your question, so far yea, theyve held up nice in both departments and i, nor does my buddy see them comin apart any time soon. weve put those things through hell, seriously and they havent disappointed either of is yet.

Thanks guys! As a college student I'm strapped for cash and I wanna build up an arsenal of rods and this new line of powells seems to be a good bet for a low cost, high quality product!

lookin forward to it elk river. lol man i work and im still straped for cash so i know exactly how you feel. im gettin some cash back from taxes so im gonna buy a couple dobyns champion rods and a couple new irod air that are comin out 2nd week of march. you should check out the abu veritas rods also, for 100 bux you cant beat em.

You are right, with a bad economy and wages down tackle companies had to do something and what they did was focus making lower priced rods. The good thing in all this is everyone is trying to get in on market share of the value rod market and Abu Garcia was without a doubt ahead of everyone. They set the bar pretty high when they came out with the Vendetta, a low priced rod that looks and performs more like a rod costing much more and then they followed it up with the Veritas which had SiC guides which up until then, weren't on a rod less than $200. Now all the Manufacturers are trying to develop better rods than the next guy but still keep the price within reason. Powell rods were always about performance, they are affordable and fish really well, they use good components, not the best but not the cheapest either and their rods perform above price but this Diesel line bothers me, if they had a 30 day warranty I'd be all for them but no backing at all, what happens if you are the unlucky person to get that rod that the blank got nicked when it was being shipped to the store or to your house, you go out and the first fish you set the hook on the rod breaks. Well now you need to get another and suddenly you're $140 into them, not much of a deal now and it is going to happen, there isn't any product made that is going to have 100% of the inventory perfect and flawless and that is why I think that they should have some type of coverage for just that sort of scenario. They do look like they would be good rods but I'd be scared to chance it, especially if it was something I had to save up to get.

TW told me to inspect the rod as soon as I received it and if there are any flaws to contact them that day. Not to wait even a day and they would make it right. They told me after that Powell wouldnt allow them to do anything. As far as the warranty goes Im gonna risk it for the rewards.

I think someone said Powell was going to offer a 30 day warranty possibly but im not sure. Anyway I think if you take care of them they should last. If they come damaged then you should get your money or a rod back.

heard that too but not sure if its gonna happen just yet. also, i agree. if you buy a rod online you should check it out right away and if there are flaws, send it back and get it taken care of.

I got mine but havent used it enough to give reliable feedback. It does feel and look good, no flaws. I'm happy so far just waiting for the weekend to get some more time in. Also should have a new smoke to put on it tomorrow. I know you want info on the rod so I will let you.

Elk River, That Diesel and Smoke is a fine looking Outfit. Let us know how it works out after you use it. I am starting to think about another BC Rod and the Diesel is one I am considering.

Good to see the Sahara too, I have a couple of them, they are really good Reels for the Price.

ive used a couple of the bc diesels. they dont suck lol theyre a d**n good rod for the price. dont be afraid to pick one up, ive had a wal mart special berkely lightning rod for the better part of 5 years now and have not had one issue with it. if that thing is holding up just fine, im 100% sure that the diesel line will as well.

i just picked up the 7'6" mh a few days ago and was able to get some fishin done before this storm hit here in central cali. i love this rod! its beefy yet light, the action is awesome! horsed a 6 pounder out of a tule mat with no problem at all. seriously if youre thinkin about gettin one, stop thinkin and just do it, you honestly will not be disappointed. this thing looks awesome with my lews ss.

What you get is a nice, lite rod that excels at throwing crankbaits. I couldn't tell you how much it weighs. Honestly, I don't care. It feels marginally heavier than a comparable graphite rod, but you'd expect it to since it's glass. The blank is flat black except for where the windings have been finished. The accents are wrapped in red thread. EVA grips. There's no foregrip. The downlocking reel seat has exposed threads at the front of the reel seat. If you have rough threads (mine had the reel seat assembly loose and up the blank when I took it out of the tube and bag and it bouncing around may have caused it) or grab your rod in front of the reel, this could be an issue for you.

I used it to throw everything from squarebills to 5 and 6xds this weekend and it handled them all with zero issues. Sensitivity is good. You can feel when you are ticking weed and hitting bottom or wood. The shallow runners loaded up the rod perfectly without it feeling too stiff. When running the deep divers it has a nice gentle parabolic action when bowed up without feeling mushy, if that makes sense. I never felt that the rod lacked backbone or was overpowered by the deep divers. Hooksets are easy with a nice gentle sweep. Most importantly, after losing a tourney last week because of fish pulling hooks out with the other rod that I was using, this weekend I lost no fish at all. Zero. Thanks to that, we finished 2nd.

Would I buy another one? Hell yes, in a heartbeat and not just because it made me some money this weekend. It's a d**n nice rod, especially for the price. The lack of warranty does not bother me at all and don't let it bother you. It swings way over it's weight, price wise and isn't that all you can ask for?

Very good to hear! I ended up getting the 765 Diesel as a frog, rod and it's AWESOME.

I picked up a Diesel 6'10" medium spinning rod last week and really like it. Only used it one time so far, but it seems like its going to work well for me.

I have the Diesel 7'2 MH and I love it. I have it paired with a Shimano Citica 200e and it's been a sweet little combo. I've caught numerous stripers and largemouth on it....handles all of them like a dream. I've fished a thunderstick on it mainly but I've also thrown a jig and small swimbait on it. It's a great rod. I will be buying more of them.
