Beast
Interesting, I thought the ike rods would be taking the place of the veritas. I wonder what price point the ike series will be in. Since i assume these veritas' will be in the $99 range, maybe the ike rods will fit in where the verdict was?
Nice looking rod
Heard about the Beast for a while. Should be a nice reel.
I like that they made an upgrade to the hood. To me it was very uncomfortable and was the only reason I didn't get another one when my 7'3" snapped in half. May have to try another one.
The Veritas and other Abu rods where all really nice. I just hate the size of trigger, to darn big.
That thing was notorious for scratching up the reel foot too on the old veritas. On 7/15/2014 at 9:33 PM, cbass12 said:I like that they made an upgrade to the hood. I like how they got the breakage problem covered
Looks like a nice rod, and 31 models is nice. I think at the end when he says; "if you're looking for the ULTIMATE in rods, check out the new Veritas 2.0..." that's a little over the top, but I'm always happy to see competition in the more affordable rod category.

You gotta look at it from a marketing standpoint....they aren't going to say "Check out the new Veritas 2.0 if you're looking for a decent rod, but not the best one out there."
Hope the Veritas 2.0 has better QC than the original. I've never owned a rod that was so hit or miss with guide placement.
Hopefully these won't snap in half on 2lb fish..

Yes. Marketing. One thing about marketing; you don't discredit everything you said previously with a silly statement. There's nothing wrong with a rod being a great value. Anyway, I just said it was "over the top." I'm not upset about it, and look forward to seeing the rod in person.
Abu and Andrew Wheeler's faux hawk have always been over the top. I hate how they market their gear.
Andrew wheeler sounds like he learned about the rod 2 minutes before doing the ad videos for them whether it be at icast or whatever else. Harsh but true.

Best hair in fishing as voted by readers of GQ magazine. I find him very mellow in comparison to Mark Zona and Dave Mercer. What do you hate about the marketing? Abu customer service has been so good, that they'd probably change the marketing for you
The knobs on the beast look NICE!
Stuff is up on TW. Rods are fugly. Real fugly.

GQ is right lol. Abu's commercials aren't bad imo, but their youtube promos suck. Wheeler and his look/style doesn't appeal to me as a fisherman. I appreciate their modern approach to marketing with their commercials, as everything seems pretty futuristic and well done but Wheeler and his faux hawk and thumb rings? Lol. Nice image Abu.

The Revo Beast just won "Best New Freshwater Reel", and beat the new Zillion along with many others (13 KP, Tatula HD, ...)
What's the big deal with the new beast reel? Its basically an all aluminum revo premier with big knobs and a stupid amount of line capacity, no? It weighs over 9 oz too. im no weight weenie, but 9 oz is pretty heavy. Is there something I'm not seeing??? I don't understand how this wins best freshwater reel.
Basically a new revo toro beats an all new lineup from lews? I understand not giving it to the zillion as it is basically an upgraded tatula. Beats the new Stella? New conquest?
Strange
Is Pure Fishing the Government of the fishing tackle industry?
The beast is a sweet reel man!!!
