STX or Energy PT or Curado 2025

I am going to be getting a new high speed reel this weekend and am looking for a reel in the price range of the three mentioned. It has to be available in left handed retrieve.

So these are the three that I am looking at.

1. Revo STX

2. Energy PT

3. Curado

Darn then it has to be the high speed Zillion, but its much higher in price range. I think their was one in the flee market, but not sure if it was a righty or lefty.

I have fished with all three and I prefer the Energy PT hands down. It is an awesome reel. The Curado would be my second choice. But the Energy is a significant winner in my book.

Hold them all, imo the Curado is too small for me to palm comfortably, and the weight difference between the STX and PT feels like a lot. I would take the STX...

I had the Curado E 7 which did not feel comfortable to me so i sold it an got the 09 Energy which i really like . I already have the 09 Tour so i guess i am use to the Quantums .

I returned my Energy PT, and bought a Revo HS SX. The Quantum felt like a great piece of machinery, but it didn't work for me very well. After a couple of hours screwing with the break and drag, I was still getting the nest, and the whining during cast was awful.

First cast with the Revo went a mile - no noise, and incredible smooth (11 bb).

This is the first 7:1 I have owned.

Tough decision, so I bought an STX and a Curado 210E7. BAD BAIT MONKEY!!!! So I spooled them both up yesterday and took them out for some fun.

They both were smooth and casted very well. They both had very smooth retrieve. The STX's drag is something else, smooth and powerful. The Curado's drag was very smooth but not near as powerful. As for casting of different weight lures I was very surprised. They both casted the same weight lured extremely well. But the STX required a little more adjusting then the Curado did. Not that big of an issues though. I do like the cast control knob on the Curado better then the click cast control know of the STX. The Curado just seemed easier to dial in. Loved the handle of both reels, both felt very natural.

Will be doing some more testing and comparing of these 2 over the next few weeks.

Go on Ebay they have new Daiwa Zillions for like 219-229.00 free shipping get you a 7/1 Zillion and have an AMAZING reel thats built like a tank but preforms like a LAMBO

Not crazy about buying stuff from ebay. I like to hold the actual reel I am buying and try it on my own rod to see how it feels first.

Well, after another weekend of testing I have some more thoughts on these 2 reels.

1st the day was perfect, 65 sunny with a very slight wind. Went to my favorite local pond and started out with the STX. Tied on a Cavitron made some adjustments mad a cast and bam a nice 2.5lbs bass to start out the day. Threw the STX a few more times throughout the day with some jerk baits, jigs and some other top water lures. Very pleased with the performance of the reel today.

2nd, threw the Curado the last half of the day, pretty much used the same lures, Cavitron, jigs and some other top water lures. The one thing I did notice was that adjusting the spool tension knob on the Curado is a little easier and I never had to adjust the brakes at all. Did have to tinker a little more with the cast control knob and brakes on the STX(could be a learning curve).

But as of know both reels are still in my arsenal and both are still excellent reels. Going again this weekend. Suppose to be very nice again, but it looks like it could be a little windy.

I have both STX and Curado 100D. I love both for differnt applications. It is true that the STX is hard to adjust and stay adjusted when casting cranks. To solve the problem I use the STX for jigs and T-Rigs as normally where I fish I like the higher drag rating the STX has. The Curados I use for cranks, spinnerbaits or anything I will do multiple casts on as I find the brake is much easier to keep adjusted. In a nut shell both have a use and I love both.

I've have(had) all three. For me, the curado owns them all. The PT was pretty close and I really disliked the STX.

I'm replacing all that I have with green machines.

Not to complicate things but I would consider the Quantum PT tour - 2008 model with the infinite casting system. Its a little heave but what a great reel. My son and I use them and he definitely beats it up and it takes it all day long. it comes as a 7 to1 and a 6.3 to 1 so its plenty fast. They sell on EBay for around 100 to 130.00. Worth the look.
