I want to know what you all think the best brand of reels is out there
Baitcasting-
For price: Pflueger
Price not a concern: Shimano
Spinning-
For price: Quantum
Price not a concern: Shimano
the longest lasting and also some of the smoothest reels are penn imo, but for baitcasters i like pfleuger. and this is a bass fishing forum so pflueger got my vote.
I voted SHIMANO hands down the best made reels in the world!
i think shimano has good high end stuff, but there overpriced and there cheaper stuff is junk.
I agree w/ the above statement but when it comes down to it they do have the best imo. BUT I love my Pflueger President WLPL to death!
i voted shimano but i also love my quantum tour edition
I voted pfluger because I am a big pfluger fan and own 2 casting reels of theirs(President and Supreme) and also 2 spinning reels of theirs(President and Medalist) There reels are made as high quailty as shimanos are and are a much better price. But once you get up to the calais or the chronarchs and even the curados I dont think shimano can be beat
shimano all the way! hey kfx400rob, shimano makes the best reels, PERIOD! and their reels arent over priced when you get what you pay for and your paying for a reel that will last for a lifetime with zero or minor problems.
Quoteshimano all the way! hey kfx400rob, shimano makes the best reels, PERIOD! and their reels arent over priced when you get what you pay for and your paying for a reel that will last for a lifetime with zero or minor problems.
100% correct
I use both high-end Shimanos(Anteres ARs & Calais) and Daiwas(JDM models). The Shimanos are built like the finest bank vaults and Mercedes Benzs while the Daiwas are built like a Corvette(sleek and quick/fast). I voted for Shimano .

I voted for shimano. I kinda dont agree wit the person who said their cheap stuff is junk. I bought a ten dollar reel bout 5 years ago and its still working perfectly now:). But i wanted an upgrade so i bought a penn.
id have to say its ether daiwa or shimano i cant deside
I like them all, Voted for Daiwa.I have , or had a lot of different brands, but they are all good. I have a Pflueger President that is one of my favorites as well as the Abu Revo. ;D
shimano hands down also i never had problems with there bottom end reels
pflueger.
Shimano all the way.
Shimono or daiwa

agreed. Shimano is a great reel for my loot.
i have a diawa ss spining reel and it is a peice of crap but keep in mind its realy old, i dont realy have anything against daiwa. i realy like my penn slammer, and my bros pflueger is great. but shimanos cheep stuff realy is junk, my brothers 40$ shimano fell apart, the drag clicker broke, it sounds like shaking a spray can whene u reel it in and it clunks. my vote would go for pflueger. a shimano of the same quality as a pflueger costs way more
i went for shimano but dang daiwas are nice too
I voted for Shimano. Their spinning reels have never let me down. I have Symtre that has seen a lot of saltwater action, and it is still smooth as can be. For baitcasters, I don't have much experience but I like Abu Ambassader round reels.
my freind has an okuma spining reel and it is by far the worse reel i have ever used, absolutely horible... im not sure what he did to the poor thing but it is realy bad
Every rod I own except for 2 have a quantum reel on it...I wouldnt think of switching..........I love them to death........My 2 favorites are the energy pt(I have 3) and the tour edition(1).........the energy pt is by far the best reel I have used.............Just my .02............
#1 and #2 - Daiwa and Shimano are the leaders in bass fihsing reels IMO.
#3 - Quantum finally has some good reels IMO with the Tour and Energy PT models.
#4 - Abu Garcia is much different now that they are owned by PureFishing. There will never again be Abu's like the older ones from pre-PureFishing days.

I'm gonna have to go with deuce on this one. I've always been a Daiwa guy, but couldn't help myself and bought a technicolor dreamcoat energy pt two months ago or so. It is by far my favorite reel. Not quite sure why Quantum isn't more popular.
I'm looking at the Poll graph at the top of this thread.
Did I make a mistake jumping on a great price for a carton of Browning Reels? : ;D :
