How long have you been part of the Shimano Posse?
Bantam 100
Curado 100
As of today I hve joined the Shimano posse. I just bought a new Symetre 2500FI via E-bay ( lets hope this purchase goes better than the last seller ). It should be here in a few days but it will prob be a month to get it on the water. I want my badge and spurs!
Actualy I joined the posse a couple of months back with an older Aero Symetre from E-bay but this is the first modern / legit one.

Bantam Mag 10 XSG I think I bought this in 1980 . I still fish with this reel.
Ronnie
For about a month now with the Citica 200D.
Been a member for about 4 years. I've amassed a collection that includes:
5 Chronarch 100SF
1 Chronarch 100
1 Symetre
1 Sahara
2 Spirex
2 Sedona
Do rods count, too? If so, I've got 4 Crucial, 2 Compre and 1 V-rod.
I've paid my dues!
I think right around 10 years or so (When I REALLY started to get into fishing). First one was a Sedona ..... I think. It sleeps with the fishes. :
In the "starting line-up" these days I have:
1 Scorpion 1000 Mg (This is brand new and I see quite a few more of these in my future)
2 Curado 200
1 Curado 200B5
1 Castaic
Then I have some spinning reels that don't get much use anymore. I keep them around in case my dad, one of my buddies, or a newbie goes along with me:
2 Symetre
1 Sedona
1 Sahara
Catt. Long enough to have 7 of the Bantam 100s that you started this with. Great little reel; love them and still use - largest bass on one went
10 1/2#s; handled with no problem. 6 Curados and 2 Symetres joined them in the last year. The 100s are still going strong but decided that I would baby them a little and give them a helping hand with the Curados. lol I do love the Shimanos but then, I also love all my round Garcias -5000s; 5500s; 4500Cs; 4600Cs. Monthly maintenance/cleanings keep them going strong.
Bob
A very looooooong time .
Been at least three years I was lucky enough my first two reels were givin to me by Travis Loyld for a very minimal amount of money. Both Bantum Curado Super Free. He fishes for a living and ever since that day I was hooked.
In three weeks it will be ten years.
four years or so but i hadnt bought a decent one until my symetre and cronarch last year
As long as I have been serious about my fishing...which has been a couple 2-3 years. I only have three set-ups so far.
1 Shimano Stella FB 2500
1 Shimano Spirex 2500RE
1 Shimano Citica 200D
I plan on buying either a Calais 200A or the Japanese equivalent of it which would be the Antares if I am not mistaken.
Right at thirty years now. Bought a Bantam when they first came out. Then some more. I've strayed a few times. Had a 521 XLT or two. Bought a couple of Quantums eight or nine years ago, that didn't last long. Everything is Shimano now and the world seems good.
MY DAD'S REEL FROM THE 80'S...SO THAT IS 20+YS...family...LOL...FOR ME....5 YEARS OF PURCHASING MY OWN SHIMANO RODS AND REELS
not that long, tho i do have one of the mag10's that alpster showed, but, pretty deep.
in less than two years, i've bought:
1 - stradic 4000 - returned for a 2500
1 - stradic 2500mg
1 - stradic 1000
1 - sustain 1000
2 - stella 2500
2 - calais 200
2 - metanium xt
3 - chronarch mg50
1 - curado 100d
1 - curado 100 high speed (returned)
2 - chronarch sf
oh yeah, i bought a crucial rod, as well.
ronnie
A little less than a year, started off with the new Citica and then got the Symetre 2500.
I posted this several days ago, but in case you didn't see it. I got my Garcia Ultra Mag 1 (1982) back from Reel Mec. He worked his magic on it and it's at least as good as new if not better. After this many years and that many hours on the water it was like putting my hand back into a well worn leather work glove...
As Ever,
Skillet
Will be 2 yrs in April. Current line up is 2 Curado Cu200, 1 Citica 100DSV, and a Sedona spinning reel that hasn't been used in about a year. There are a couple more Citica 100s in my future, and possibly a Chronarch.
I bought 5 Shimano Bantam Magnumlite 2001 Gt Plus in 1976. They are still in excellent condition. As of 12/01/06 I had 23 or 24 Shimano reels counting casting & spinning reels. The came the Bait Monkey. For the year 2007 I'll be fishing with 6 Scorpion 1001 MG's. 3 Antares AR, 1 Speedmaster, 1 Quickfire & I recieved my last one today. It's a Antares DC.

Wow! That's quite a collection.
Over the years I have given most of my reels away, but as far as I know, they are all still being used by the guys I have given them to. My current collection is:
2 Stella 2500FB
1 Stella 1000FA
1 Sustain 2500
1 Calais CL200
2 CTE200GT
My next reel will probably be the Calais 100 or maybe the Antares. We'll see.
It's only been three years for me, and the same goes for Daiwa. I was a Quantum Pro Staffer in high school, and that was all I owned up until I started fishing again 3 years ago.
I started with 3 red curados. They were the only reels I had until the Daiwa craze hit me.I bought a few Shimanos , but more , or less only to trade.I did have a Chronarch SF that I ended up trading for a Kistler Flipping stick.I wish I had never traded that reel away.I have been meaning to get another chronarch, found a super nice 2006 Metanium XT, traded 4 Abu Garcia Torno 3004 HS reels for it. That Shimano is here to stay, gonna build a few select more around it, looking for Chronarch SF, or a Chronarch MG50, or Japanese version of.I have met a super knowledgable person here who stated in a message to me " Better spend once and for all , than spending twice" I couldn't agree more. Ivan
Hey RW how does one enter the free Stella give away contest! LOL
about 7 years so far I have;
3 curado's (green one)
2 sahara's
3 citica's
5 stradic's
1 cronarch
1 calcutta
fish-fighting-illini,
Man, if I could get ten guys to kick in $100 each, we could have a drawing and one guy would walk away with a great reel and the $100 they put in the pot. How's that for a deal? I wouldn't mind doing that every week!
RW
LOL good comeback I enjoyed that.
Can't blame a guy for trying?
About 35 years. I have owned several off brands during the time but always have had a SHIMANO to fall back on. I have several of the Bantam 100s.
It hasn't been real long for me. I am only 17, so i have been a member for aout 3 years.
5 Curado BSF
3 Chronarch 50MG
1 Calais 200
1 stradic
3 symetres
Most reels were inherited from my Grandpa who passsed away this summer.
At the 1978 AFTMA Shimano exhibits the Bantam 100, this starts the full-fledged sales of fishing tackle abroad. Three months later I purchased my first Bantam 100 and my first Kunnan Stick graphite rod.
I have used most of the brands out there, not really loyal to any particular one, most get the job done equally as well IMO.
I've used calcutta's for years on my smaller saltwater stuff and even have a bantam mag 10, same one as Ronnie. (from back when reels weighed 2 lbs, lol)
I've never been "stuck" on Shimano though.
ooh grasshopper,
"May you find light at end of tunnel."
:
I have the same reel Alpster has, think I bought it in 82-83, still use it all the time.
I was a Shimano BC only guy till about 5 years ago.
I would say that about 2000-2001 is when I think other CO. started makeing BC reels as good as shimano's quality. I think Shimano saw this too. They hadn't changed much in years, then in the past 2-3 years their whole line up has been upgraded.
I fish Shimano, Pinnacle and Team Daiwa reels now.
My favorite reel is still a Chronarch 100MG
