Seaguar Red Label or Vicious Pro Elite..? 2024

fishing user avatarDBL000006 reply :

I've decided i need a, 100% Fluro. Both of these brands 500 line on one spool. I have 4 Baitcasters that need new line. Feedback on these brands would be great.

fishing user avatarcottny27 reply :

Red Label no question.

fishing user avatarJd_Phillips_Fishin reply :

red label

Anything but viscious

fishing user avatarJustinU1X reply :

You didn't ask but yo zuri and izorline xxx would be great great alternatives. I don't think anyone NEEDS floro. It's not the most manageable mainline. Plus you can get a 1200 yd spool of xxx for $16.

Fluro line catches more fish. I was with a Buddy, he has Fluro Line and i had Grand Slam Coated. Well he out fished me

Have you ever thought about using a leader?

I did, but i rather have Fluro as my main Line.  I use 60 Yards of Mono Backing before i'll put the Fluro on.

fishing user avatarcottny27 reply :

Red Label will work fine for you if you keep some KVD line conditioner close by.  Its pretty soft and easy to manage, but I've never tried anything higher than 12# test.

fishing user avatarbuzzed bait reply :

red label is a pretty solid line for the money.

i steer away from fluoro that begins with a "V" (vicious, vanish)

I got some KVD coming. I may be getting some 12 and 15 not too sure yet. The Diameter for 15LB test is like some 12LB Test Lines. I'm confused by that though.

what are your intended uses for the rods/lines?

i would use 10-12 for cranking and 15 for jigs/texas rigs

fishing user avatarJigMaster4 reply :

Ive been using the 15 lb test for about 6 months now as my first flouro and has       performed pretty good. Moving to yozuri hybrid now to see the difference.

fishing user avatarcottny27 reply :

Seaguar is quite thin.  The Seaguar Senshi mono is even thinner.  I have one combo that I throw cranks all day on with 12# RL and have no issues.  I just soak it with KVD the night before 6 or 7 sprays and you're good to go.

Yeah, 15Lb Test is for my Jigs and Worms. I'm mainly a Swim Jig, Vibrating, and Jerkbaits.

Yozuri hybrid, i rather get a Fluro and not a Coated Line.. I've heard about the Line though.

fishing user avatarPennBass reply :

I highly recommend you steer clear of the Viscious fluoro. Got it in the 8 lbs. test and the memory was worse than 20 lbs mono despite stretching.

fishing user avatarcottny27 reply :

.....and Vanish.  Its terrible.  Them two are on the same level imo

Thanks guys.. I'm sold on Seaguar.

fishing user avatarcottny27 reply :

Good cranking line/very manageable, but not sure I would recommend it in heavy cover with jigs.

I used Grand Slam Coated 12Lb Test in Lilly Pads and around timber. I think the 15LB test is, perfect for all types of fishing

fishing user avatarcottny27 reply :

Ok, its probably similar in line diameter.  I go as light as I can get away with.

I do like flouro, im just trying yozuri for a season to see if theres much of a difference. Especially at its price!

fishing user avatarBluebasser86 reply :

I've had very good luck with Vicious in 12lb for finesse jigs, above that I'd go with Red Label.

fishing user avatarrangerjockey reply :

I got a several spools of vicious free from them several years ago.. Fished the 10 and 12 lb. on my jig and plastics rods. I never had any issues with it either.

It's not as manageable as invisx or sniper . I never use any kind of conditioner.

fishing user avatarww2farmer reply :

I am a fan of Red Label, but I only use it as leader material. For main line, you might want to go up the price point ladder to something made to be a little more handling friendly.

I see what you mean. I just don't have the extra Cash to spend on high end Line. I'm using 60 Yards of 12Lb Mono for Backing. From what i've seen in here and reading reviews. Red Label seems very good. I have KVD Line Conditioner, so i should be good to go.

fishing user avatarcottny27 reply :

I use Seaguar InvizX & AbrazX...I can't tell much of a difference other than it will fray more than AbrazX. It handles really well for me as a main line.

fishing user avatarSMITTY0045 reply :

I definitely like Red Label. I use it on most of my reels

fishing user avatarRobert Riley reply :

Red Label is my go to economy line.

fishing user avatarRyneB reply :

I use 15 lb red label for jigs for the past 3 years. I have never had a problem. If there are pike in your area, they will slice it like a hot knife through butter though. And a non pegged tungsten without an insert will fray it.
