Just curious since I can belong to the Shimano posse, Is it possible to belong to the G-Loomis posse ? I just scraped enough change together to bid on a MBR783C IMX rod at Fatfish.I am thinking I would rather have a 6'6"MH for plastics than a 7' rod. I wanted to thank Fletch, Raul, Alpster and anyone else I might have forgot for the help in the G-Loomis dept, you guys are the best. Ivan
Good luck with your bid. I know you'll be happy with that rod. A great all around choice.
Not sure about the G Loomis Posse though......that would get really confusing with having to be on a reel and then a rod Posse ;D
sure you can be a member of the Loomis Posse. You will love the Loomis
What are you guys talkin' 'bout'?
The Shimano Posse and the G.Loomis Posse are one in the same! You ride with us.
You're welcome to have a side arm, a back up weapon with any other brand...As long as you own a Shimano, just one, you are part of the Posse. If you don't own a G.Loomis, well then...Go get one!
I was thinkin if you put a Pflueger reel on a Shimano rod then you would be on the Mook Posse and that slow midget hooker guy would be the sheriff
G-Loomis?
Wouldn't you rather buy an American Rod?
QuoteG-Loomis?Wouldn't you rather buy an American Rod?
I wanted a G-Loomis rod.I did consider buying a G-Blank rod ,I haven't ruled anything out after this purchase. This time I am getting what I have wanted, regardless of where its made. Ivan
I feel like I am in a group counseling session. Well here goes, " Hi, my name is Jim, and I don't own a G. Loomis ", now go ahead, everyone say " Hello Jim ".

The last time I check Woodland, Wa was part of the USA

If I am thinking correctly I think Loomis is one of the few who don't outsource there rods.
The strongest agrument favoring G.Loomis is quality control. They are fanatical!

Yeah...but this doesn't make Loomis any more American than Toyota. Last time I heard ownership discussed, it appears Loomis is owned by a overseas company. Loomis is just the American name.
G-Loomis is owned by Shimano American Corporation since May 1997. Gary Loomis still works for the G-Loomis company.Toyota is also right here in the United States.Currently, Toyota has six North American final assembly plants in operation. Toyota's six current factories in the U.S. employ approximately 24,230 American people. Ivan
My favorite combo....GloomisMBR843C Glx with a Shimano Calais...
Simply AWESOME.

What I like about RW is, he is so subtle. ;D
I heartily agree, BTW.
Ronnie
I am not so sure Gary Loomis is still at Shimano. Keep you ear on the ground & you might hear something real soon.
Good luck on getting the rod. You won't want any other rod from now on after you get a g-loomis. I 3 and just got a custom made g-loomis IMX 844 with titanium guides and love it. Nothing better then a g-loomis.
hello Jim...
I love my loomis and shimano combo's and I currently have 5 of them. I am always looking to add more. I am planning on puchasing the Japan version of the sustain... and an antares DC 7 within the next few months... I am most definately set them up on a new IMX or GLX...

Out of curiosity what rod would you recommend Vermelho
Who cares where the rights to the company lie...it's not like they shipped over busloads of Asians to work at the Loomis Factory in Washington when Shimano took the reins. Shimano didn't pay millions to buy a brand and then change things...they are smarter than that. They simply provided Loomis with the financial backing Gary could never dream of. Gary still worked there when I talked to Marshall (a guy I know in the Loomis marketing department) in November, and still has his office, even thought he admitted he doesn't see Gary all that often. According to him, Gary was behind the design of the BCR and SMR series. Go figure...they don't have smallmouth in Asia . The only people I have ever heard try and say the quality went down when Shimano purchased Loomis are people that don't fish or can't afford Loomis rods. I've asked some nay sayers directly what part of the rod has suffered, and I haven't received an answer. I've owned pre-Shimano Loomis rods and I have a quiver of post-Shimano rods...maybe someone can educate me on the difference, because I can't tell.
sorry im new to BR and was wonderin wat is a rod/reel posse?

It's something the folks here have been having fun with. It started with folks that like Shimano reels and they became the Shimano Posse then the Pflueger users named themselves the Pllueger Mooks and it kind of grew from there. The posts have been a bit "spicey" at times but it's all been in good fun. Folks just seem to be passionate about their brand loyalty. Kind of like we all used to be Ford or Chevy fans.
o thanx for the info.... p.s shimano's are the best

Do they make a Rod???? ;D ;D ;D ;D
I just want to clarify... G Loomis is still American made, right? I read somewhere recently that some of their rods are made in China. I really hope that isn't true.
Well,
The State of Wahington is kinda considered "leftcoast", but it's still part of America.
As a matter-of-fact, our Administator (Glenn) is from there...
I got the Fatfish IMX MBR783C today, paired it up with the Metanium XT, can't wait until I can wet a line with it.Fatfish was an excellent person to buy from,Super Quick response on a shipping question, super quick shipping, received the rod in 2 days. I am already beginning to figure out how I can come up with enough change to get a GLX next. Ivan
