i was in gander mountain yesterday and was checking out the new powerpro super slick.it seems smoother than 832 or fireline braid.anybody using it yet?i was thinking about giving it a whirl.looks like powerpro might has stepped back into modern times with this line.

I was in dicks sporting goods last week and that stuff feels awesome! and its practically the same price as normal power pro! But for some reason i fee like it will fray easily or not last. I cant say though, gotta get me some tho!

So what your saying is it has the same negatives as every other braided line.

Ive been using 20# timber brown for over a month, fishing 4 or 5 times a week. Its held up better than original PP. The color faded just as fast as any other braid though. The slick stiff coating wore off within 3or 4 outings. Its very quiet through the guides, more so than any other braid Ive used.

Being the braid hater I am, it takes a pretty good line to meet my approval standards. At this point, there are two that have done it, Super8Slick and Kanzen. The two are quite similar in performance and overall feel. The S8S is likely the quieter of the two, but lacks the feel of Kanzen. The coat does wear rather quickly, and it does fade fast; although I don't think it's any faster than PowerPro.
Both S8S and Kanzen have superior resistance to abrasion than any other superline, Kanzen has slightly better of the two. S8S is more round, and it does feel like it's a tighter weave than Kanzen. When it's worn in, they're quite evenly matched. I'd be willing to bet that if you fished the two side by side and didn't know from color, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the two. Put any other line against either one, however, and the differences are immediately apparent. S8S is a little touchy with knots, as can be Kanzen, I suppose. Tie a Pitzen as terminal and an Alberto as a leader connection, though, and you'll be golden. I'm currently fishing S8S on a spinning rig and a deep jig rod, and the line has performed well, as far as braid goes. It's right up there with Kanzen, and I'd fish either of the two as braid when needed. Just for the added shock effect, I'm going to leave the S8S on the Core for the coming season and fish 3/4 and heavier jigs on it when needed...

In the current Bassmaster article on line, it is reported that the PowerPro brand manager suggests using a seven-times-around Uni knot to make knots stick in this slippery line.

Exactly my point, but guess what? It is more expensive than than others. I hate braided line and don't plan on using this line. Like I said, it is just what I have heard from others and posted it because no one else was responding at the time.

Uni knot is good info for PP Super Slick. For standard PP and any other braid I've used so far, improved clinch 6 wraps works fine for freshwater and inshore fishing. For my pelagics I'm using 30# PP improved clinch 6 wraps, then double over before cinching, this knot has yet to fail me, going thru the eye twice imo did not improve the knot. I saw Henry Waszcuk demonstrate and recommend this knot on his tv show, been magic ever since. I'm going to give the uni a try this morning.

Here's my take based on about five or so years using 15# PowerPro:
Fraying--hasn't happened with me.
Fading--it fades, although I can't say whether it's quickly or slowly. But so what? The fading hasn't hurt anything that I've been able to notice; it's just a lighter shade of green.
Noise going through guides--I haven't heard it and I use inexpensive $40-50 rods for the most part.
Abrasion resistance--I've read that it's terrible with rocks, but I don't fish in rocky environments, so I don't know. Abrasion resistance to wood and vegetation is nothing short of incredible, one of the main reasons that I started using it.
There are some annoying aspects of braid, but the pluses greatly outweigh the minuses for me.

you're talking chinese to these bass guys of the north and midwest. i have been hitting the flats for two months now w/ #15 super slick , it has preformed flawlessly.I have straightened out super line gammy hooks with just a plain 5 turn uni to the hook. far as connection uni/uni ,improved albright and reverse albright works well with both pp lines..try this knot for your live bait hook ~ trilene knot.

Quit quoting me! I haven't used the line and was just relaying the other things I have heard about it. This thread is about the new Power Pro Super Slick not the regular Power Pro by the way.

I'll let you guys give this PP Super Slick a good work out... then I might try it. 
I tried another "super slick" line... the Diawa Samurai braid and didn't care much for it. Yes, it was smooth, and casting distance was excellent. However, I didn't like it's knot strength and abrasion resistance. Maybe this new PP line won't have those issues.

What you want to know that hasnt been said as far as experience with it? Ive been using it 4 or 5 times a week since it came available. More snook than I can count. At least 20 bass. A few reds too. Its quieter than all the other braids Ive used. It fades just as quickly. It seems to take color from a sharpie better than Suffix 832 did for me. The slick surface does go away after some use and it gets limp as all other line does. But I have never experienced a wind knot with it in 20# or 10# and I fish very windy conditions this time of year. At least in my area, it is easier to find locally than Sufix is. It cant be worse than original power pro, because along with spiderwire, the original was pitiful to begin with.

On the subject of windknots, recently I viewed a video on what cause them. This may or may not be marketing ploy, but on the surface it did make sense, for me the jury is out. The video is on my signature line. This is not freshwater, but casting with spinning gear is the same anyplace.

Yea, I read around quite a bit on the Super Slick, and most people seem to like it... a few don't. At least not as much as some other braids. All in all, it sounds like a good line, but not necessarily better than the 832 that I happen to like (particularly the Ghost), and 832 is readily available around my area. When I start running low on the 832, I'll probably pick up some Super Slick (also readily available here) and come to my own conclusions.
