Hard to find decent reviews on them.
1. Best Value? They work for the price.
2. The Best one Period. Expensive but worth it.
Also the best deal on Powell Rods?
I use Rapala Braid Scissors. Work great. Not sure on the Powell rods.. I always use TW
try this. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002BX0QXK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 they work great.

Love those Boomerang Tool Company The Snip Fishing Line Cutter !
Use Pitbull Cutters. They are a little pricey but worth it. Have no idea on the Powell Rods.
Use the el cheapo Rapala ones. They work well until you drop them on the garage floor a few times.
Thanks so much guys
BPS scissors. $2.00
Several good options have been mentioned above. Just to muddy the waters, here are four cutters for under $10.00. The two Rapala products came from Dick's. The green-handled Cortland scissors and the KVD tool came from Walmart. All seem to work although the Rapala nippers have to be fully extended for max efficiency. The Rapala scissors and the Cortland scissors work, but I feel the rivets holding the two pieces together seem to loosen. That being said, they both lasted a year for me. I really like the KVD tool because the serrated blades are a much thicker stainless steel and are mated by a screw which can probably be tightened if necessary to insure the blades are snug. The split-ring pliers are a bonus. Unfortunately, there is no way to easily attach a lanyard. Oh, and I realize now I've duplicated some other responses, for which I apologize
i've seen ads for a cutter called the Pitbull Tackle Cutter which is touted to be the ultimate braid cutter. Search YouTube for vids on this tool. If I remember correctly it is about $20.00. Demos are very impressive.

I have these too. Only one I have ever used but works like a charm on the braid I use.
Any shears with a cerated (sp) edge will do it. I used a pair of childrens shears for a long time. The edge is the key.
Another vote here for the Boomerang tool. Priceless.
Hemocuts:
I'm all for the boomerangs, but I tend to use my
hemocuts ^^above^^ more. A multi-tool, of
cutting line, getting a hook out, and piercing a
coated line eye. Great tool.
KVD braid cutter/split ring tool.Like 5 bucks at walmart
I use the Rapala Braid Scissors. There's apparently two different models of their scissors, one with a serrated blade, and one without. I have the ones with the serrated edge and they have worked great, for somewhere in the $2-3 dollar range that works for me. I also had a pair of the KVD ones from Walmart, and they only lasted about a year before I junked them. Wouldn't purchase them again.
I've been using the boomerang snips for several years, but my daughter just ripped the split ring off because she wanted a ring. The mind of a two year old... They still work great and have never tried to sharpen them. I like those hemocuts though. Never seen them before. Will check them out.
In response to the Powell rod. Buy a crappy or broken endurance. Mail it in with $60 or so and they will give you a new max.
Boomerangs are awesome, I've got 4 of them, I think.
The serrated edges of the bladed makes a difference.
I've also got a bunch of these: http://www.scotchbrand.com/3M/en_US/scotch-brand/products/catalog/?N=4335+3294529207+3294602456&rt=rud
...floating around too. They also work great. <$7 on Amazon Prime.

I looked them up - interesting.
Thanks.
Boomerang snips as everyone else said.
The hemocuts from bass pro are okay the thing I don't like about them is they are really snug on my fingers and I have a hard time getting my fingers out of them lol. Could just be me though.
Gambler evolution braid scissors. Only 7 bucks and is also split ring plier.
I have tried a ton of braid cutters and they all dull pretty quickly (especially the Boomerangs). I get the cleanest cut from the Pitbull. They are the best I've used. I have had them a while and so far, they have remained sharp. I highly recommend them.
Edited by Rodney SmithI use the new KVD split ring /braid cutter......works great....you can get the field and stream one at Dicks for about 8.00
Well been using stuff I had after seeng all the responses.
THEN I bought Lew's reels and both had Lews pliers as "Rebates"
Guess I;ll go with all I have

I have these. The Split ring part of it is close to useless. The cutter snips braid like butter. The Boomerang likes a like a good deal, too.
Powell is coming out with a new Endurance line of rods soon. They seem priced right! Cheaper than the purple (older) ones. If you get on Facebook and follow them, there should be some recent postings about them (no mention on Powell's website). I own a Max 3D and definitely prefer my Endurances over the 3D.
Wdy Crankbait What do you like about your old Endurance over the Max 3D? I have an original Powell Max 683CF which I love. I was curious what you disliked about the MAX3D? Have you fished an Inferno?
FishnKamp,
Well, there are a couple of things. First, the split grip handle is longer on the Purple Endurances so, it fits me better with the butt of the rod against my side. Two, the reel seat on the purple Endruances, it lets the blank seat against your "underneath," finger.
Send me a message with your email address and I will provide some pictures of what I am talking about. Also, I have a lot of health problems and have to go to Hopkins a lot! My buddy lives in Ellicot city, next time I come up I'll hit you up and bring a couple of Powell rods if you would like.
Wdy
I normally just use the Fiskars safety scissors from walmart which are pretty cheap and work great. Up here the Boomerang sells for $25, but on my recent trip to the US, I snagged one on sale at Basspro for $10 and it works great and definitely more portable.
For those that are interested in the Hemocuts that @J Francholinked, Sierra Trading Post has them for $8.99.
