Need a reel under $150 2025

fishing user avatarAbuGarcia-4-Life reply :

Ok I have been looking at the Citica, Revo S, Quantum Kinetic, And maybe a Quantum Reax I know they are gonna peform about the same and it is all about the looks or company I want and I love the color white in a reel so im gonna pair these reels with a Varitas, so what reel would you buy?

fishing user avatarNick94 reply :

I've heard that Revo S is quite the reel.

fishing user avatarKYntucky Warmouth reply :

I have had 2 Revo S reels, both were subpar for their price, they were rough, didn't cast very good, and felt labored on retrieve.  I would say go for the citica, I've had one for a while and really like it.  I've not used the quantums but I have a code and have really enjoyed it.

fishing user avatarhmongkidBee reply :

the citica is reel nice.  Check out the curado if you're looking to buy a shimano reel because on ebay you can get a new curado for $145 shipped which is an awesome deal.

fishing user avatarAbuGarcia-4-Life reply :

Well I can get Citicas for $85, Kinetics for $80, Curados $130 so im gonna keep it under $100 for my first combo cause all my combos right now are borrowed except for my Cruxis and all those prices are wholesale NEW!!!!!

fishing user avatarKYntucky Warmouth reply :

If you can get a Curado for 130, that's where it's at.

fishing user avatarBig Tom reply :

I would say the Citica is the best choice here if you are keeping it under 100.  They are decent reels.

fishing user avatarhookingem reply :

I'd like the link to a 130$ new Curado?

fishing user avatarBoogey Man reply :

Having used both a Revo S and Citica, my vote would be for the Citica. I do have a Catalyst, which is a step up from the Kinetic but still favor the Citica.

fishing user avatarAbuGarcia-4-Life reply :

Yea I couldnt find em and a Fly Fishin company making Bass gear? Id stick with Bass companies

fishing user avatarsmallwatermayhem reply :

Curado E7 would be absolute best, but the Citica would work well too.

fishing user avatarsouthtexasbassin reply :

Revo S!!!

fishing user avatarAbuGarcia-4-Life reply :

Im gonna get a Citica for now and im probably gonna get a Varitas to pair it with thx for everyones input

fishing user avatarflippin and pitchin reply :

Tackle Warehouse has the Revo STX on sale for 139.99.  That would my choice.  I have both STX and S and would spend the few dollars more for the STX.

fishing user avatarAbuGarcia-4-Life reply :

My friend keeps telling me that the Citica sucks and he has sent 4 back to Shimano, he is also sayin that I should Go with Abu Garcia instead of Shimano cause Abu's lower end stuff is way better.

fishing user avatarPieman reply :

Look into the Browning Citori. I just bought one for use as my backup and it has replaced my Abu as my primary now.

I would question the friendship of anyone making such a statement.

id love for your friend to have that talk on this forum. please, schedule a time for this debate. we could sell tickets, buy you some good gear...........

fishing user avatararul reply :

I love my Basspro Pro-Qualifier combos for $189 or so...  Edwin Evers uses them.  They got great features for the price-  Not sure what the reel is by itself, but probably not a lot.

fishing user avatarSlip Gun reply :

I had both a Citica E and a Revo S. I gave the Revo S away and still use the Citica E daily. Buy the Citica :)

ONE MILLION DOLLARS!

Uh no.  100 bucks regular price, usually 80 on sale.

fishing user avatarBigGame0892 reply :

Gotta go with the Citica here, have a hard time believing someone would have to send 4 back.  If that indeed was the case, why would you keep asking them to send you another vs. getting your money back and going with a different brand sooner?  Having a hard time buying that story here.

I fish only Shimano and have only had one break down ever, and Shimano was more than happy to fix and never had any problems since.
