Most Sensitive Co Polymer Out There? 2024

fishing user avatarkingmotorboat reply :

What's everyone's opinions. I'm completely out of line and need to respool. No one here carries yo zuri either

fishing user avatarretiredbosn reply :

What do u mean by Co polymer? Almost all line us a co polymer, by that I mean its a mixture of different types of nylon or fluoro, or a mix of both of those.

I suggest ordering YZ from an online sporting goods or flea bay, big fish sports is a real store that sells yz cheap on flea bay

fishing user avatarkingmotorboat reply :

I'm talking about in the vain of yo zuri and cxx or floroclear

fishing user avatarPreytorien reply :

I use either YoZuri Hybrid Ultra Soft or McCoy Mean Green for river smallmouth fishing, and it seems to be very sensitive, well handling, and low memory. Overall, both lines are great.

That's the answer I was scared of cause no one sells neither around here lol

McCoy mean green is awesome stuff!

Ha, I hear ya. I can't think of anyplaces near me either. I got mine off eBay. It's so inexpensive, even after you add in shipping it's darn cheap and works great. The YoZuri is some of the best casting line I've ever used, its incredible. I like McCoy for it's manageability. It hangs off my Stradic like my braid does, just limp as overcooked spaghetti.

fishing user avatarThe Fisher reply :

I use Silver Thread AN40 and it has been very good to me. Don't have a comparison to other lines because once I try something I like to stick to it. It's very limp, thin and strong.

fishing user avatarMaster Bait'r reply :

Yo-Zuri is probably my favorite rubber band line.  If you need stretch and clear, it's a great line.  Predictable, manageable, cheap and pretty darn tough.  It's all you can really ask for in a copolymer.

fishing user avatarkikstand454 reply :

:) @ rubber band line. I guess compared to braid or aircraft cable it is stretchy. Otherwise its just fine.

Order your copoly online. TW or wherever. I get almost all my YZ off fleabay.

Agreed.  $12 for 600 yds all over the place.  Killer deal IMO

I don't mean to describe the line's stretch as a negative, but going from braid to YZH requires a mindful approach to hook sets haha

fishing user avatarrobster80 reply :

love mccoy. use the extra clear and clear blue

fishing user avatarAlonerankin2 reply :

If you won't, can't or don't want to order online, then you are at the mercy of what is immediately available in your area. CXX & CX are great copoly lines as well as what has already been stated..

fishing user avatarShockwave reply :

I'll have to look into Yozuri myself.  I tried Izorline and have been pretty happy with it so far.  I didn't know Yozuri was THAT cheap tho!  Good to know!!

fishing user avatarTurtle135 reply :

I just put some 17 pound test P-Line CXX Crystal Clear on one of my baitcasting setups. Fishing after work today. Will post an update tonight.

Most Sensitive Co Polymer Out There?

I'll say that each Type of line (Braid, Fluorocarbon & Nylon) have certain characteristics that are associated with it.

As far as sensitivity goes - I don't find it to be much different brand to brand.

Frankly I adhere to the belief that "sensitivity" is a Skill possessed by the angler more than a product of any part of one's tackle.

In my experience, what does change quite a bit brand to brand and something that may be just as important (or perhaps even more) is knot strength, size vs. pound test ratio, abrasion resistance along with durability / longevity.

The lines mentioned here all have a decent track record making them worth looking into and there are many others in this category that can & do work well.

Mccoy and yo-zuri are the best copolymer out there, anything P-line sucks

P-Line Floroclear is very good (in my experience)

and it's carried at Bass Pro, other locales. CX

or CXX would serve well, too.

In the mean time, you can hit up eBay for some

600 yard spools of Yo-Zuri Hybrid for less than

ten bucks.

fishing user avatarhatrix reply :

Never tried McCoy. CXX is more sensitive and less stretch then yo zuri

fishing user avatarTurtle135 reply :

Tried out the 17 pound test P-Line CXX Crystal Clear tonight. First impressions are positive. It has that look of clear blue Stren so the line is very visible above the surface of the water. Should be good for presentations that require line watching. I had a sense of the memory issue that I have read about before with this line. Was not such an issue that a 3/8th ounce football jig could not negate. Will have to test some more with a weight-less presentation. It has about the same diameter as 14 pound test Trilene XT which I use so frequently. I had no problem detecting a 17" largemouth taking the football jig at the end of a long cast and a normal hookset did the job. Did not have enough time tonight to determine if sensitivity is an improvement over Trilene XT but I did not find any negatives about the line that would be a deal breaker so far.

fishing user avatarBluebasser86 reply :

While not technically a copolymer, Sunline Defier Armilio fishes very similar to copolymer but handles like mono but has lower stretch. I've been fishing it on my jig rod for a few months now and have been very impressed. It's similarly priced to fluorocarbon, so if savings is what you're after then look elsewhere. If you want a line that handles like mono, transmits bits like fluoro, with the abrasion resistance of copoly, then you might want to give it a look.

fishing user avatarWPCfishing reply :

I used PLine CX today for the first time. It's a quality line and priced very reasonably. Made in Japan. I like it.

fishing user avatarFishTank reply :

Yo Zuri Hybrid is my favorite.  It use to be Fluoroclear but it I went through several spools that had breaking issues.  Not sure what the issues was but I have not tried it in years.

fishing user avatarbigbill reply :

I been using Excaliber Silver Thread copolymer line for decades. I have tried other brands but I'm back to the silver thread every time. Years ago Excalibur posted on there website the testing results of bending and abrasion testing against other popular lines at that time and Excalibur out lasted all the others. I been using it ever since I read the results.

fishing user avatarkadas reply :

I have been using the Izorline XXX and have been very happy with its manageability and sensitivity

I'm not familiar with Mccoy I have used YZ. I'm having good success with P-Line CX.

Mike, What didn't you like about P-Line? Which lines did you try?
