Anybody use/buy this? I'm needing to upgrade (now) 4x T3's from 80mm that is just way too small. Few questions about them. Are they lightweight? I assume they are being CF. How big are the knobs in comparison to the Tatula knobs? I'm kind of a fan of the Tatula knobs but prefer rubber. Are they 4 bearings or come as 2 bearing but support 4? I was going to go hawgtech but unfortunately their handles don't support daiwa knobs =(, If anybody has a picture (i'm mostly talking to you 21farms ) of a 90mm handle next to the lews handle or a 95mm handle, i would appreciate it.
thanks guys.

Yes they are lightweight. I believe they will be 4 bearing but if not then you can add 2 more. The knobs are a tad smaller and aren't as flat feeling. Lews won't support diawa knobs either. You can use the Eva abu knobs on them and bps knobs.

Ha. my first instinct was to just PM you about this. I did find that you cannot use Daiwa knobs on these handles but i'm not too worried about that. Would you say they are similar feeling/size to shimanos septon? I'm pretty accustomed to 85/90mm. Do you feel much of a difference going from 90 to 95?
No the shimano's are kinda contoured. It's hard to explain. They aren't uncomfortable though at all. 90-95 a little but 80-95 you will notice a lot. All mine are 90 except one hawgtech that is 94. I don't notice it a bunch.

I figured it would be that big of a difference. I can't stand 80mm handles. Do you know why on TW website it says the handle is meant for RH reels? Aren't these handles universal?
Yeah 80 is way to short for my liking. I'm not sure why it would say that. It will fit either side. Lews sells the handle directly and it's pretty cheap. If you order 4 at the same time I think they give you a break too.
I have two of those handles, mounted on Zillions. Daiwa knobs do not fit. They are 4bb equipped. I know the handles are lighter than the stock, riveted handles they replaced, but, with the reel mounted on the rod, the difference is imperceptible. Actually, with the the reel not mounted on the rod, the difference is imperceptible.
The knobs are very flat and wide. I'm a big fan a Daiwa cork knobs. I like the smooth feel. I do not like knobs which have any texture. The Lew's knobs are very nice, in my hands. The shape is a little weird at first, but two casts in, they feel good.
i have a bunch of those lew's handles. i also have other handles in 70mm, 80mm, 85mm, 90mm, and 95mm. i'll try to take some pics tonight and post 'em up for ya. 80mm is too short and 70mm is just plain ridiculous. personally, i like 90mm the most...it looks and feels just right for me. however, most guys seem to prefer the longer 95mm length. i have to sheepishly admit, i think i actually like fishing with 95mm handles more but aesthetics matter a lot to me and they look disproportionately long to my eye.
the only reason that the lew's extended CF handle is listed as right-handed is because it comes with a right-hand-threaded handle nut; they fit a lefty lew's, daiwa, abu, pflueger, BPS, or quantum reel with a swept star fine as long was you have a lefty handle nut. i noticed that lew's seems to have made a running change to their 95mm CF handle...they used to come with a covered handle nut and a standard handle nut retainer plate. on the lew's website, it shows they now come with an open handle nut and a nut retainer cap...yuck.
the lew's 95mm CF handle weighs 0.87 ounces whereas the lew's 95mm aluminum handle weighs exactly 1 ounce but the difference is imperceptible...to me, it's more for the cool look and feel.
the lew's paddle grips are wide but thin and feel to me like they're made out of plastic whereas the tatula knobs are beefier (thicker and heavier) and are more tacky feeling, like molded out of rubber. i liked the lew's paddle knobs at first because it transported me back in time to the 70s when i used to fish with the original lew's and the early shimanos that had those same knobs. but, now that the nostalgia factor has worn off, i definitely like the daiwa knobs better.
thanks guys.
look forward to your pics sir.
The tackletrap has the lew's 95mm handles in stock. If you call Gary you might be able to get a deal on 4. If you are a member of another certain forum you get 10% also.

Already tried when looking for the tatula handle. He has 1 in stock. I need 2-4.
Looks like TW has them too. I believe there is a memorial day sale coming up in May if you wanted to save some money.

Sweet quick upgrade for a daiwa or lews. I happen to like the lews knobs and found them comfortable. The fact that they come with 4 bearings is a huge plus
I like an 80mm handle a lot more than a 95mm. Tackle Trap has the TD-Z 80mm 4bb handle for 50 bucks. I have those on all six of my Fuegos, and three of my Alphas.
Weirdo!
J/k. Im a fan of 85/90. The 80mm on all my t3 1016s are nice but just too small. I put tatula handles on my t3b and really like it.

As always, you're the man. Thanks!
I put a lew's carbon handle on my Tatula type R. I got one with the red accents so it looks pretty dang good. The handle comes with all hardware and 4 bearings. Easy upgrade for next to nothing.

So if I buy this lews CF handle and use it on my LH Daiwa could I use the stock Daiwa handle nut? I was actually looking for a longer CF handle for my T3. Glad I saw this post.
Yes but just be aware of what style nut you have. Like mentioned Lews uses/used a closed acorn style nut and a retainer ring. A lot of daiwa reels use an open nut and a cap to cover it. So the cap might not line up with the hole in the Lews handle.
So what would I need to make it work? I mean easiest path.
Handle,handle nut,nut retainer,screw
Just be sure to order a left hand or right hand nut depending on your reel.
What daiwa do you have?
Daiwa T3 LH.
I'm looking for a 95mm handle since I will be using this reel for shallow cranking. Just want to give myself a little extra leverage and torque cranking even though I'm just throwing mostly 3/8ths 3-8 feet divers.
So if I was to order the RH Lews CF handle I would need those parts you listed to make it work from Lews or Diawa?
The handles are universal. They'll fit lh or rh. The retainer ring and screw are also universal but the handle nut needs to be lh or rh specific. The t3 has a beauty cap that covers the open nut. So there's nothing that you would be able to re use except the screw. The Lews use an acorn style nut that uses a retainer ring to keep it from spinning loose. Like how the daiwa steez is. So you'll need all the pieces. Handle,lh nut, retainer, screw.
Here you can see what I'm talking about. The Lews uses an acorn style nut with retainer ring to keep it from spinning. The Daiwa uses an open nut and retainer cap to keep it from spinning. "IF" the pre drilled hole in the Lews handle matches up with the hole in the Daiwa cap then you will only need the Lews handle and nothing else. I can't say if it will though so the easiest route is to buy all 3 pieces from Lews.

good info provided by rippin-lips but let me expound on it a bit. it's really going to depend on which version of the lew's 95mm carbon handle you receive, the old or the new. if you're lucky enough to get the older one, you can just use your stock T3 closed handle nut. if you get the newer version with the "beauty cap" (as rippin-lips calls it), then you with either have to source a left-handed open handle nut or get a covered handle nut, handle nut retainer and handle nut retainer screw.
Ok I just called and spoke with Lews just to clear some things up for anyone interested, and myself. The handle assembly is $50 shipped. They are already pre packaged and ready to go. It's 100% complete. You get the handle with knobs, handle nut,nut retainer, and screw. So it's a 1 and done deal. Everything you would need comes with it. Just have to tell them right or left hand so you get the correct handle nut. The part # is CFH95B and just say left or right hand when ordering. It's the same assembly as on a tournament pro. She said they all are the same kit and their is no new or old version. Hope that helps someone out. Also for anyone interested. If you don't like the Lews paddle grips, abu and bps knobs will fit on it.
there are two versions...here's what's currently shown on the lew's website and the ones currently sold on ebay:
and here's my last unopened package:
kind of hard to tell but that's a separate covered handle nut (with gold trim around the top), handle nut retainer and handle nut retainer screw. the packaging is different as well.
Yeah it has a cap like the speed spool and the other is like the tournament pros. Well the one she went and checked was the older version. So I guess just try and specify which one you would want.
