To start off, I know this is a very subjective topic and everyone is entitled to their own opinion. That being said, is there, if one in particular, a Model is the G Loomis line that you would consider BEST BANG FOR THE $$$? ...... Obviously, you hear how great the GLX and NRX line of rods are, but for what you pay is there a certain line (GL2, IMX, GLX, etc.) that you would consider the best for the money?
Thanks in advance, all input is much appreciated!!

IMX
I used to own a GLX, couldn´t feel the $100 extra dollars difference between it and an IMX
Sincé I can´t feel the difference between a GLX and an IMX there´s no reason for me to try to feel the $200+ difference between an IMX and a NRX
I do have several of the old GL2 rods and shure you could feel the difference between thosse and the twice as much IMX, they are now relegated to perform the less glamorous jobs ( spinnerbaiting, crankbaiting ) however I wouldn´t get rid of them.
I have them all GL2, GL3, IMX, GLX, NRX. Sold the GL2. In my opinion the best bang for the buck.."IMX".
If you are not looking to spend $400 to $500 dollars. I am, however not referring to the new IMX.
One that I really like is the GL3. Probably won't get too many to agree with that. Just my opinion.
I think the main gripe with the GL2 was not the rod itself, but the price of the rod. Most just thought there
were better rods out there for that price. Like you said, "subjective". Anyhow, that's my two cents.
Good luck choosing.

The NRX and older GLX rods are some of the best bottom contact rods around. I would take them all day over my IMX.
Depends on the application you want to use the rod.
G. Loomis rods can be "technique specific."
I vote for the IMX rods if you don't want to invest in the GLX or NRX series.
As long as it is a Loomis you can't go wrong.
Let us know what you decide to purchase.
Thanks for the input everyone! I have been considering the IMX series, mainly due to the price point and the good reviews. The only thing i am hesitant about is the Newest series of IMX, from what i have heard it is not on par with the previous model, but once again that is just people opinions i have heard.
I will second Hootie on the GL3. The GL3 MBR 844C is one of my all time favorite rods, have caught a ton of bass with that rod over the years and its still kicking bass. I have recently switched over to Powell, but the GL3 844C and 783C will be staying in my line up.
Well, I am a fan of the GLX series, but the "bang for the buck" rod I would recommend to you is the IMX844C.
I would say the NRX is the best bang for your buck in the Loomis line. It's the only Loomis I've used that truly outdid all comers. All the other lines, I've found comparable performing rods for far less money.
in my opinion the IMX line is the cheapest G.Loomis I would own (unless I got a crazy deal on something else) but is also as high end as I would go also. I have owned a GLX and could not justify the cost.

Very good Zach. When I was your age I couldn't justify the cost of an Ugly Stik...lol.

Any of you recommending the IMX fished the new models? I haven't seen a lot of reviews on these since they've been out.
im very interested in hearing some reviews on those who have used the new line of IMX as well!!
I actually would have to say the GL3 is your best bang for buck. Keep in mind my IMX and GL3 rods are the older models but when it came to spinning, the GL3 had a better handle and to me the difference in blank wasn't really perceptible, the casting rod I chose an IMX only because the dealer had the IMX in a model I wanted and I would have had to wait to get the GL3. I later got to use the GL3 in the same MBR 783C and the difference was very small, maybe a tad heavier and I mean 5 grams or the weight of a nickel more than the IMX. I'm sure their is a difference in material that warrant the higher cost but I would have been happy with the GL3 and saved some money too. I don't know about the new IMX but I can tell you the new GL2 isn't worth the price, I love the handle, that is fantastic but the blank is heavy and dead and when I say that I mean it is heavy and dead for a rod that is $200, now bring it down to $120 and it begins to get better but in my honest opinion I'd say the GL3 is a good value.
The IMX is probably the best bang for the buck. The 844C is a good all around rod in that line up but the GLX line is noticeably more sensitive. Depending on the rod, they sort of have that magic wand feel.

I used the new version of the IMX 873CRR. I didn't really come away too impressed. The handle was very short and very skinny, which made the rod extremely tip heavy; the cork was also of poor quality, with a lot of filler. Carolina rigs are fished tip up almost exclusively, so you'd think balance would be something they'd take more into account. Sensitivity-wise, I didn't feel it was on par with my Kistler KLX rods and was certainly not even on the same level of a 13 *** or Megabass Orochi XX. It fished similar to a lot of $150 rods on the market, in my opinion; very similar in overall feel to my Tatula rods. The build quality was excellent, and I like the size of the Fuji K-series guides. All in all, the rod was extremely well put together and fished excellent, but I didn't feel like it was worth the money for the performance. There's similarly priced, and even lowered priced, rods that perform at an equal or higher level.
I agree with the IMX as a great value on a budget and the 844c is a very versatile rod. The GLX 844c is one of my all time favorites.
I hear if you want to get the best experience for a G Loomis rod it was the IMX line. I never owned one, but I'm thinking about getting one. I own GLXs and a GL2.

i have an old (weibe reel seat) imx rod, a 5-6 year old imx, and a couple of the new IMX rods. they all fish great. I love the looks of the older IMX rods more then the newer ones. I do like the handles and the guides on the new rods. I will continue to fish with them all for a long time. you will probably be pleased with either. JMO.
Thank you everyone for all of your responses. I greatly appreciate everything. It seems to me that one of the fan favorites is the IMX844c. Looks like i might have to check it out!!! thanks again

Let me know how you like it!
What weight lures will you be throwing and will you be throwing into cover?
I have an older MBR843IMX and I just regretfully sold both of my 844's. If I am using big worms and big Craws with at least a 5/16oz bullet weight, I am using the 844.
The 843 gets the nod if it's a 1/4 bullet weight and big worms and Craws or a 5/16oz bullet weight with smaller worms and Craws.
Oh one more question, has anyone had much experience with the Mossyback line of rods? i see they didnt get much popularity on this topic...

The Mossybacks were supposedly developed for "smallmouth bass fishing" but why spend in lesser when you have the IMX ?

Raul, the Mossyback is for largemouth. The Bronzeback is for smallmouth. But I suppose you can use either for whatever you want. A fishing rod is a fishing rod.

Sorry ´bout that ! It was the Mossyback that had all those strange lengths ( like 6´4", 7´2" n´stuff ).
The only Loomis rod line I do not own is the Venerable NRX... For my money it's the GLX, with recoils, I own and use 2 Gl2 re- vamped rods. 3 & 4 power these rods are not heavy and dead, in fact, I can feel quite good with them.. Is it my choice @ $200? Nope, is it a imx? Nope, a Glx? Nope.. It's a gl2..if you can grab them at 50% off retail, they are really decent at that price. I would not want to invest $ 200 in a gl2, it's money going toward the wildcard which has been discontinued anyway, I grabbed one Glx this past year, like new @ 200, you have to shop around. Many of the Neptune blue rods were tank tuff, and well made. The new gl2 rods are not bad, just not great. I have not used a re- formulated imx or glx there are mixed opinions on these. I tryed a new imx, in store/ with my reel and pitched with it. I wasn't overwhelmed by it and chose the gently used glx instead...
Next rod for me is a NFC rod!

You know, I can understand why everyone is saying the IMX as I have owned the GL3, IMX, GLX, Mossyback, Bronzeback, and a bunch of other techniques specific G Loomis Rods (e.g., Spinnerbait, Crankbait, Swimbait, etc.). However, Tywithay actually brings up a good point. The NRX truly is a rod that I think stands on it's own. The GL3, IMX, & possibly the GLX have rivals where the NRX is just in a class of it's own. I have sold or traded in most of my other G Loomis rods for the NRX models, as I feel this offering from G Loomis is truly a "Stand Out"
