So, mice got into my boat this year and chewed the foam part of the handle on my Stradic Ci4.
I want to replace the handle but don't want to order one from Shimano and pay $5 for the handle and $25 for shipping.
Where can I get a replacement handle for a fair price and how do I actually take the old one off?
order from platt and get some other things while your at it. Great store. I dont work on shimmano but if its like any of the others it will have a cover and a screw that you have to take out. Should be a youtube video on how to do it
check the 'BAY out. lots of new and used parts on there all the time. do a search for: ROUND EVA POWER KNOB FOR PENN DAIWA SHIMANO(around $16) . also search for Stradic Ci4 knob. several options.
From Shimano, the part is $4 and shipping is $6.

Thanks! Is there a link to that?

Thanks!
I fish two CI4 Stradics and love everything about them except the EVA knob. I replaced mine with left hand septon PGII knobs. The difference is like night and day. Part is listed under Chronarch 201 E. Cost is only 3 bucks.

Interesting. So it is ordered from the Shimano website?
I fish holding the rod in my right hand, and turning the reel with my left, I would need a left handed reel handle too?

They're contoured left (BNT 4240) and right (BNT 4220). You also need a knob cap. They only come in black but Tackle
Trap has colors. Japanese sites have all kinds of neat stuff (for a price). Also, don't forget there's a copper shim under the bearing in your stock knob. Move it over to the new one.
I've got a pair of Stradic Ci4's and a JDM Soare that has eva knobs, I dig them.

So you ordered yours from Shimano?
And I have to order a knob cap from Shimano too, I can't use the original one?
Using my left hand to reel, I should order a left hand knob?
Original cap is completely different. Simplest thing to do is to call Tackle Trap (256-281-6160). Look at their site first and decide if you want red or gunmetal caps ( they're under Hedgehog Studio tab). They're listed as Daiwa but I'm pretty sure they fit. You'll have to order the knobs as a pair from them. (Just get another reel LOL). Or, just keep it simple and get the EVA knob from Shimano. I really think you'll like the feel of the septon knob, though.

That's what I did on my CI4+ and it's one of the best reel mods I've ever done. I'd never go back to the foam barrel knob.

I'd be a lot less worried about the knob than the possibility of other damage. Mice LOVE wires. Check everything, and take some old pill bottles, put moth balls in them, and scatter them some of the compartments to drive the mice away.

Thanks. I'll check that.

So you ordered the new knob from Shimano but had to order a different cap because of the new knob and ordered the knob cap from Tackle Trap?
Also, can you answer these questions, thanks!

I thought I answered your questions. Yes, I ordered the knobs from Shimano. Part BNT 4240 works best for left hand reeling. Knob cap is only available in black from Shimano. It's in the same parts list as the knobs. Mine are silver from another handle. You can get aftermarket caps from Tackle Trap, Hedgehog Studio, and others.

Thanks! Maybe I missed it.
So can I order the part BNT 4240 (knob) from Shimano and use the original cap? Or is the cap ruined when you take it off and you have to replace it?
All your questions are answered previously. The red Stradic cap doesn't fit.

Can I order the Chronarch 201E6 BNT4240 Knob and BNT 4150 Handle Knob Seal (cap) from Shimano and have everything I need rather than have to order aftermarket stuff from other websites, because it seems like it would be a lot cheaper?

Sure you can. The cap will be black if that doesn't matter.

Thanks! Yeah, sucks not red, but I'm ok with that.
do yourself a favor and skip the foam knob and get one from a Metanium.
if you want the foam one, PM me, I have the one I can send you with the red cap (no bearings).

You mean a handle off of a Metanium reel?
