Too busy making TS rods.  Lol, couldn't resist.

fishing user avatarTywithay reply :

That's the new Fuji side wrap concept. Supposed to add 10 yards and more accuracy to sidearm casts.

fishing user avatarBluebasser86 reply :

Ever see the guides on the Rage rods when they first came out? I'm pretty sure I could get them straighter than those guides were with no previous rod building experience. That's the kind of thing that makes me worry about buying rods before I get to see them.

What model rod was it?

fishing user avatartomustang reply :

That's funnier than seeing the h2o ethos rods missing two guides in a row!

Avid

fishing user avatarWIGuide reply :

I'd say that's either St. Croix version of the Gary Loomis spiral wrap guides or someone was daydreaming of warmer weather while they were making it.

fishing user avatarHooked_On_Bass reply :

I wonder how that bad boy made it out of the factory looking like that?

fishing user avatarDelaware Valley Tackle reply :

The guides are lined up with each other so some one probably sighted down it and said good'nuff. From building rods I can see how it can happen, but shouldn't have made it out the door.

I looked at the Rage's today quite a bit and holy hell the guides aren't even close to being lined up.  I'm pretty sure you could line them up better drunk with no previous experience.

I've never seen guides so misaligned.  Even on cheap ass throw away rods.  I was quite disappointed as I really liked the rods otherwise.  I ended up buying an Avid, with straight guides.

fishing user avatarS Hovanec reply :

I repaired a Loomis Steelhead rod for someone that picked it up at the Bargain Cave at Cabelas. The stripper guide was 45° off of the reelseat and the rest of the guides. This one isn't as noticible as one guide way out of whack.

fishing user avatarTrippyJai reply :

I saw the same thing a few years back at BPS. Also on a St. Croix Avid, must've been the same person LOL.

I'm not sure if he reel seat was broken though. Didn't care too much about it and put it back down.

Next thing you knows that will be the new technique that wins the Classic. Those rods will sell like hot cakes.

fishing user avatarBigMoneyGrip reply :

Thats for casting "gangsta" style. Y'all don't cast that way? Accuracy is horrible, but it looks cool.
