fishing user avatarpaul. reply :

i got a deal on 2 carrot stix rods tonight - 89 bucks each.  they were regular 119 bucks. :)  i am so excited.  i think these will be by far the best rods i have ever owned since i am a notorious cheapskate when it comes to rods and reels.  i have pretty decent stuff now, but i hardly ever buy rods or reels except when on sale.   i have heard great things on these rods but i would like y'all's honest opinions.  was this a pretty good deal?  and honestly, how are these rods in comparison to the other big names?  i can take these back any time so let me know what y'all think.  thanks a bunch in advance for your help. :)

fishing user avatarburleytog reply :

The dealers can barely buy them for that.

You won't be disappointed.

fishing user avatarWhitepaw reply :

Which one's did you get.  The MH Fast -6-9 casting or spinning rig.  I think you got a very very good deal on them.  I got a casting 6-6 Mf and 2 Parabolics 6-9.  Trading one Para for a MH F 6-9 casting.

Enjoy. ;D

fishing user avatarFR0G reply :

I think I am gonna get one with this graduation money I got. Its burning a hole in my pocket!

fishing user avatarpaul. reply :

i got the mh 6-9 and the mh 7-3.  i will be using the 6-9 for kind of an all purpose rod and the 7-3 more for plastics and jigs.   :)

I hope you're ready for a mind blowing experience.

These rods seem so innovative!  They actually take fibers from carrots, and fuse them into the fiber itself, which gives it, it's color!  That is amazing, and really looks great!  I am a fan of bright poles, so that is really what has me hooked into the whole carrot stix craze!  I want one, maybe 3-4 of them! lol :)

fishing user avatarDavid P reply :

Enjoy!

What are your first impressions on the guides? Sounds like they're the only negative point I've heard.

They color the rod orange if you take that coat off it's probably black.

fishing user avatarmattm reply :

Can you get more for that price.  I'm so happy with mine I would buy several more for that price.  I don't need any rods by any means, but that is a steal.

fishing user avatarsoccplayer07 reply :

where did u find them at that price?

fishing user avatarEvan Pease reply :

Tell us how you do with them. Ive got two and love them.

fishing user avatarpaul. reply :

thanks y'all for the feedback.  sorry, but i can't get any more at that price.  i got 3 last night.  one for my buddy and 2 for me.  there were only 3 left i think and the guy at the store asked me not to say anything about where i got 'em b/c he figured they'd be out very quickly and he didn't want to disappoint customers by having to say they didn't have any more at that price.  i'm pretty sure they'll be gone by the end of today anyway.  but if i hear of any more deals like that around here, i'll try to post about it.

seems like i have had a real good streak of luck here lately with great deals on fishing tackle.  i had a guy at a store around here trying to get me to buy some g-loomis rods a few weeks ago.  he offered me 15% off if i bought 1, 20% off if i bought 2.  i almost did it, but in the end i just couldn't stand to spend that kinda money since i'm just a recreational basser.  if anyone is interested in that deal, pm me.  it may still be good and i don't mind checking.

thanks again for y'all's help. :)

fishing user avatarbooneangler reply :

these rods are more of a cranking rod than a finese type rod right?

fishing user avatarEvan Pease reply :

You can use them for cranks if you want but I would rather use super-sensitive rod for finesse.

Only the parabolic actions.

:-? Repeat They can be used as both, not the most sensitive rod.

Still  nice rod for a fair price.

They are nice...a good bargain no doubt.  Mind blowing?!  That seems extreme (as Chappelle would say...I'm just keepin' it real).  I dig'em, and they are nice sticks,  but they don't blow everything away in the middle rod market..  They are the lightest rods in that price range, but sensitivity I would put in the middle of it's class.  I think my Avids and Powells are more sensitive, and have better guides no doubt.  I chimed in because of similar threads I read before I purchased my Carrots.  I don't regret buying them one bit (I'll get that out of the way), but the threads I read had me thinking my GLX's were in jeopardy with these $150 rods, or they would do my laundry.  Good sticks, but they probably compete for second or third in the middle rod market IMHO, with the Powells being my favorite.  Between the Carrot and the Avid it's close; the Carrot is far lighter and more contemporary with the split grip, but the Avid is more sensitive and has better guides that actually have ceramic rings.  Just giving my .02 for those that might be in the market.

You must have gotten bad rods.  My Carrot is ironing my pants as I type this.

All of yours must have been bad. Mine acquires and harnesses the power of antimatter allowing me to travel with 100% efficiency and I can go to mars and be mistaken for bigfoot.

Notice that I scrambled the background so you wont know which Ice Cap Im fishing on. :D

fishing user avatarWhitepaw reply :

Cheese and rice fellas, ya'll are killing me!!! :D  Yep, the only thing about the Carrot Stix I frown on is the guides.  All else is A-1 gooders.  Wonder why they (Carrot Stix company) didn't put better guides on them.  Oh, the things that make you go hmmmm. ::)

fishing user avatarWillzx225 reply :

I dispise the hook hanger. Anyone else? When I wrap the line around the guides for traveling it always gets hung in the hook hanger. Also just the other day the hook hanger latched onto one of my Crucial's guides (let the power struggle begin! haha)

Loved the Jessica Alba response!
